Not sure this is totally true any more. There's a lot of nationalism in the middle east and people absolutely do identify by nationality, admittedly more so in some countries like Egypt than others. Obviously 100 years ago what you say would've been true.

I'm not cringingly embarrassed by the British empire as much as some people and think it probably brought some good in some places but obviously British policy in the Middle East in the first few decades of last century is one of the great disasters of history

As they say Iran is a secular country kept religious and Turkey is a religious country kept secular, though not so much now.

We don't realise how lucky we are with the FA Cup when you look at other countries' cup competitions. There are very few sports, let alone football competitions, where big boys are routinely humbled as they are in the FA Cup. Every year it injects a bit of genuine drama and joy into an increasingly boring, sterile and aloof sport, and any fan, Leicester or otherwise, who states that they don't care if their club progresses should pack up and go and find another hobby.

I refuse to believe there are people who don't find Ryan Reynolds and his corny persona incredibly irritating. But I think the ambivalence towards Wrexham probably comes more from the documentary and what this represents about modern football more than the on field success itself. This is then compounded by the fact that anytime you express scepticism towards the project you are met with a million comments from centrist dads reminding you what Rob and Ryan have done for the community mate yeah?
