I think he’s always been massively underutilised but he’s not quite backed his stats up with the same application. Modern football is incredibly transient but he’s been here for 7 years, surprisingly. He’ scored some truly great and important goals and as has been said dragged us to the FA Cup final. Average ratings aren't a great barometer really. Tries to incorporate far too much and relies so much on the manager, approach, teammates etc. Agreed on Szmodics though. It's his first good season in the championship at 28 and he's outperformed his xG too. Even Whittaker I'm not totally sold on. Philogene looks as though he has the most potential of the wingers but he'd be too expensive imo.
