  1. Interesting looking at Opta stats, paints a very poor picture of Martin. =24th for goals from subs (=3rd most subs made) 1st for errors leading to shots 10th for xG 22nd for xG per shot 21st for set piece xG 24th for fast breaks 1st for passes, 3rd for final third passes 24th for forward passes 5th for backward passes 1st for passes per sequence 23rd for attack speed 13th for shots against 15th for xG against 18th for shots conceded in the box Without checking I'm sure these patterns would reoccur throughout Martin's spells at other clubs
  2. Against 10 men. Opta says we've had 191 touches in the box all season and we rank 4th but we're 1st for possession with 68% on average. We absolutely should have scored more ut finishing isn't the issue when we were already winning against 10. What's the point in trying to tire the opposition out with the zealous brand of possession football if it doesn't work against 10 men? With the way they were pressing they should have been gassed out in the first half.
  3. We were 1-0 up against 10 men, we didn’t need to score again just controlling the game without playing into danger or inviting pressure would have been fine - theoretically possession football should do that but Martin’s coaching creates perilous situations which invite pressure
  4. And a manager that frees players up and facilitates more risk in the opposition third. I bet we have relatively few box entries for all our possession
  5. I think even 6/10 appointments probably get us up here. It’s just Martin is a 3/10 appointment for us with where we find ourselves. Cooper was an abysmal appointment, RVN was crap but he inherited a very shit situation, Cifuentes was mediocre. Maybe I’ve fallen for it again but not-Russel-Martin or-extreme-possession-for-the-sake-of-it should actually go a long way. This team is capable of getting promoted, it’s certainly much more talented than the rest of the division. There are still much bigger, background issues but the way we’re set up, especially defensively is fixable - we don’t have a curse or a hoodoo we just need to make some semi-sensible decisions. Keeping Martin jeopardises the sale, KP’s finances, the future of the club so they do actually have to sort something out. I hope: A) Everything pans out absolutely fine, we click and Martin takes us up (not happening) B) We realise our mistake quickly and sack him and appoint a sensible manager - ideally Challinor but anybody with a decent track record that works well with a young squad
  6. Possibly but so many gleefully love jumping into that - there’s gallows humour and then there’s this horrible overly defeatist wheeeeey we’re shit culture, yet there is no desire to *do* anything about it.
  7. KDH never looked like scoring double figures us until Enzo played him further up, they’re all capable of getting 5-10 (or more) but it requires more aggression and attacking risk - which Martin won’t do.
  8. Hopefully all the interested parties in purchasing the club stipulate he must go and they cave under that pressure
  9. He’s in the pub too often so I don’t have sympathy for him. If we got the chance to be a professional at Leicester we’d give up a hell of a lot. He’s looked just as detached as the rest of the shit heads have over the past 5 years.
  10. We haven’t seen enough of Doyle yet and Howell has been unfairly dropped imo
  11. It’s not unsalvageable - we just have to appoint a half decent manager rather than literally the worst footballing demagogue in the country. Page, Alves, Riis, Braybrooke et al are better players than were coming up against. I’d be on board with your theory if Challinor was serving this up but instead we’ve got Chairman Mao when we need economic deregulation
  12. Nicking it 2-1 against an otherwise poor 10 man Barnsley is also quite shit
  13. Which would have been grounds to dismiss if we were rationally setting out milestones we needed to be at. Soon it’ll be 7 and 8 points and then it runs away. We’re not going to improve - Rangers didn’t get better prior to sacking him, he didn’t look better at game 10 or 15 with Southampton in the PL
  14. You can guarantee if we went down to 10 we wouldn’t get back into the game like that
  15. Under this manager we’ll find novel ways to achieve abysmal results - it’s what he does! Here we are fast approaching the mythical, magical 10 game mark.
  16. Luke Thomas YAAAAAAAAAY!! We love you Luke! Wout Faes YAAAAAAAAAY!! We love you Wout!
  17. 👨🏻‍🦳: “We can’t just have a team full of young players”
  18. Ex Ipswich, 5’11, extremely unlikely he’ll ever play - are my three observations.
  19. Ad platforms are usually quite dishonest with the actual advertisers. It’s easier and more profitable for Google to just let them run and hope the business doesn’t notice.
  20. Well he’s delivered on the culture front and not at all on the results. Sacking him for a manager that has a career GA figure closer to 1.00 and better PPG would reasonably increase the likelihood of success. We lost 0-4 at home to Oxford precisely because of the manager and his methods. What if we give him more time and we’re just as bad, or even worse? We’ve binned half the season off with a manager who was predictably a poor fit.
  21. It’s a lovely place but I’m not sure it’s geared up for a stag, relatively few bars for a city of its size. Wrocław or Krakow are better suited.
  22. For some reason they cap the scores below a certain number too, e.g 144 was the highest you could score
  23. Laughed when I saw it
  24. I think most of our duds were poor signings from conception e.g Skipp was just a donkeyshit deal rather than he underperformed. The Daka and Soumare signings you can make the case they underperformed but they were exceptions. Perez, Vestergaard, Coady, Bertrand, Skipp etc were all signings I hated when we were linked with them
  25. Villa have been reckless with wages for quite a while and their transfer business prior to this season was actually quite poor, it was their longstanding players in Watkins, Martinez, Konsa, McGinn etc. Where they excelled was binning off a shit manager and landing an excellent one, even amongst their PSR strife they’ve had multiple CL campaigns and won the Europa. Purslow pushing the LCFC line is just expectation management.
