Just so I understand you correct, you dont want someone who thinks we beneath them, but you ok with someone using us as a stepping stone for a little bit over a year? I am struggling to understand the difference between the two sorry.
-
I think you have misunderstood at the very least my opinion. Enzo I think would primarily have two problems. Yes we would concede a lot of goals from defensive control play mistakes. Absolutely no question of that. But with the slow build up Enzo wants we would also struggle to get shots on goal, so it would be a problem both ends of the pitch, he neutered KDH telling him he was shooting and dribbling forward too much as an example as well. I am not sure what people were expecting with Enzo, being in the EPL with hardly any playing budget, a squad that doesnt match the ideology, one track mind, and we would somehow overcome problems that he couldnt even overcome in the championship. He was lucky the players had that behind closed doors meeting as well to get the promotion on his CV. Interesting the club isnt fighting to keep him, its as if the squad has already had a word.

We can still build on it. First get a manager who knows the league and can play suited to the current squad. Then over time build a squad to suit the ideology you want, then finally at that point bring in the manager. My issue is trying to push a ideology on to unsuited players, especially right after promotion. Our finances suggest (unless the club surprise us) we wont have the luxury of building a team the way we want for a season or two either. One risk with very young managers as we found with Enzo and Ipswich are finding out also is they are overly ambitious and more likely to move on as a result, which promotes more year to year.

You both are probably right. It would be a bad decision I think, but somehow we in a situation where trying to impose a way of playing (presumably to please Top). But one can hope they perhaps finally start thinking sense of getting a manger who is versatile and can adapt to the league and players, for this reason I wouldnt mind a change of DoF, someone stronger who can tell Top he is wrong. I also strongly think we should have someone with EPL experience.

How so? Under Enzo our most likely outcome would be relegation as he is stuck to one way of playing that doesnt fit the squad, Moyes probably would be 45-60 points.

Ironically Puel is the one who built the foundations for Rodgers. I think he did a good job.
-
To be fair 80% of Enzo games were boring to watch, and Rodgers was horrendous in his last 18 months. My favourite Enzo game, he tried to disown the football (Birmingham away, great direct counters).

Thought they wanted McKenna according to sky they having talks with Ipswich. We not a club thats just been promoted with a championship squad after after a long time out of the EPL, we were down there one season, still have much of the EPL squad, and can be argued our relegation was down to bad management decision making rather than the squad.

50 passes between defenders, then laying into them when one goes astray post match?
-
Enzo is gone, I think the club have decided the compensation would be nice and maybe arent confident he could keep us up. He wants to stay in the EPL, and Chelsea will be too attractive to turn down.
-
He is a solid choice if we want to stabilise the club and build a solid foundation I think.
-
I dont rate Corberan though, too over tactical and not ambitious enough in his play.
-
Wow wasnt expecting Moyes to be where he is in this poll given how the other thread went, I would accept the other popular choice Potter as well.

Premier League 24/25 Pre-season guff (misc talking points)

Nothing can stick until someone has the balls to carry out the punishment, more then likely it will just be a fine, or a small non meaningful points deduction at the most. -

Curious how Villa have avoided not been picked apart, no one in for manager or any key players. -
Keeping eye on smallbone, still rate the player, good moves, good quality.
-
Younger than the manager that won us the EPL, and what long term project.
-
Why do we need to keep the system? Isnt it better to adapt to the league?
-
Yeah it seems Moyes is agitating people, so in he goes.
-
We can still retain players, just cant register them.
-
My list to annoy all the football snobs on here. Big Sam Cooper Moyes Roy Pearson Wilder Bruce Mowbray
-
Clubs releasing retained player lists, wonder how slow ours will take to compile.
-
He deffo has potential, sell daka and keep him. Our budget is probably under 20 million, so not sure how people are expecting us to replace half the team.

That tends to happen when you play attacking football. What was your point? Rather win 3-2 than 1-0 personally. Fans also usually want to be entertained.
