There's crossroads near me which I use everyday. The number of times I'm waiting to turn right and I regularly see drivers speeding up to beat the lights. If the lights turn red before the get to the junction, they're going full tilt and can't stop. A few years ago an ambulance got T boned and was overturned by somebody doing just that.
