We're playing in a league lower than we would've been if the weak management, financial mess, and the cock ups we all know about, been addressed and players had been more motivated and committed,. That said, I expect we'll do OK on Saturday. Longer term, what's needed is a confident, vocal keeper (not convinced about Stol) and strong leadership from the back. Still a bit of a worry that the overpaid players that remain still won't be all that motivated during a difficult season.

Do you think FIFA are bothered if Cyprus or Uzbekistan et al, pull out? The more major participants might protest now, but they and the lower profile national teams can't ignore the bribe of potential increased revenue if they go along with this. It's horrible and for me, signals the death knell of truly competitive international football.

And still there's people who are in denial about corruption in world (and national) football. Sadly the real fans and supporters of their national and league teams have no voice anymore except to change tack and support lower league and to stop giving money to the big and potentially corrupt clubs. That's never going to happen as long as the likes of the PL, La Ligue, the Bundesliga etc and Sky, get the big crowds, the millions watching across the world and the big bucks that creates. Football has sold it's soul to corporate greed.

A year ago we got a cockerpoo puppy. He's a pain but also an absolute pal. We're still in the training process and it can be challenging but we wouldn't be without him now. I do wake up sometimes, worrying about how we'd cope when the inevitable happens. I really hope you have the best time with him till the end.

Can I also add that during my time at Gateway, they brought in the first computer to be used in schools. It took up almost the whole ground floor of the science block, it was huge and took ages to program an equation and get an an answer. Ever since I (and many on here of a similar age) can remember, school was all about a fixed curriculum, like it, succeed or not, this is what you will learn. I was fortunate to go to Gateway Grammar school as it was back then. It was quite progressive in it's curriculum in that it encouraged kids with non academic traits to try other things, not extreme and not far off the mainstream but if I wanted to join a class that was building a scale version of the Parthenon, I could (and did).
