Wilf Ndidi AGAIN. What a cross, and that control was absolutely sublime. Fantastic piece of individual brilliance from both there, top class.
-
Fantastic cross and top class finish that.
-
Yeah he's quite erratic defensively, it's his first off game though so I can forgive him for now!
-
The issue is how do we stop them from doing it? It's so so easy to counter our system, yet we refuse to change it. Does every single week have to boil down to a bit of individual brilliance or mistakes from the opposition? We've had 1 game this season where we genuinely looked good, and imo it was a lot down to the fact Russell Martin is a clown.
-
Really impressed by their structure, they are tactically far better than we are at the moment, very well drilled. They've sussed us completely. Hopefully our class comes through because we know our tactical approach won't change.
-
He's going to get himself sent off soon, trying way too hard atm.
-
There is a monstrous difference between risk reward and suicide football. That exact mistake is not a one off, it's happening 3-4 a game, week in week out.
-
Blackburn have us completely worked out at the moment, this will likely come down to them running out of steam or us having a bit more quality.
-
The principle is solid, the best managers in the world utilise it, but they aren't hardliners on it. When Man City have 5 opposing players in their 18 yard box they clear it.
-
A process of what? It's suicide football and we do it every week multiple times a game. There is no process here, it's just poor.
-
From everyone. The entire team dropped deep, our back 4 was 3 feet ahead of him. This shite has to be coming from Enzo.
-
I'll be honest, I'm getting really ****ing bored of Enzo Marescas Leicester CONSTANTLY playing ourselves into trouble, this hard line play out from the keeper shite has to end. There's no way this isn't being forced onto them by the coaching staff, this is absolutely ****ing ridiculous. Doesnt matter how any blackburn players are in our box we HAVE to try some shitty intricate play around them. Very poor. Every week we do the same thing 5-10x a game.
-
True but I don't think this was a change born out of Klopp realising we are better than we expected, more than Liverpool couldn't hit a barn door tonight Always good to see them forced to bring out the big guns though!

Tonight was a match we did not really have much to play for, i'd happily sacrifice every cup this season to focus on the league. Overall I thought we were pretty poor albeit "comfortable" in the first half. Tonight was all about how we applied ourselves and how our tactical system would stack up against one of the best counter pressing teams in Europe. In the end i'm still unconvinced by us, over time I'm hopeful that we iron out these creases, but the mistakes we continue to make week in week out are not really to do with our tactical approach, they are amateur mistakes. Positionally we are poor, every time we gifted Liverpool an opportunity we had players scattered all over the place with no structure. There is something fundamental missing from our play right now, we get cut open with simple passes, switch off too easily, every single position on the pitch making really simple mistakes and consistently choosing the wrong option, we have barely anything in the final third. Overall I can't expect too much from us, and maybe this looks harsh, but there were some bright moments tonight, Akgun and Hamza were great tonight, Hamza has been a breath of fresh air since stepping back into the side. Souttar thrown in and made some errors but on balance he stopped more chances than made errors. Great goal from Mcateer continuing his fire form. In the end it's a fair result, we were thoroughly outclassed which I fully expected, just very disappointing by how unstructured we seem to be when we lose possession, I made the comparison to Burnley as a team to watch this season as Kompany also has some elements of his style from Peps tactical approach, and the similarities of how unstructured they look is strikingly similar. We keep riding our luck, hope Enzo can find a solution as it could easily have been 7 or 8 tonight. One of the most corrupt Refereeing performances I've ever seen tonight.

Gulf in class has become apparant. We had a decent first half, but even with that said, we created so much for them just from mistakes in the first half, it's getting rather worrying just how many chances we gift the opposition. Seems like we learn absolutely nothing week in week out making the same glaring mistakes. Right across the pitch we make far too many poor decisions. Hopefully with time it will come good.
-
JJ has had a rough night tonight.
-
This is a corrupt performance from the Ref.
-
I watched Hamza during that Liverpool counter, wow. 3 at the back, Hamza Storming back to take up the CB position whilst screaming for Coady to shift himself across to create a back 4. Simple little moment but showing huge maturity this season.
-
This obsession of playing it out from the back with short intricate passes is just ridiculous at times.
-
Never a penalty.
-
I guess it makes sense to try the tactics against the big guns, but given how many chances we've given championship clubs I'm not sure what he thought was going to happen against a team who pretty much directly counter our style. We are very fortunate that Liverpool have blown so many chances, I was quite happy with the first half really but overall we've not really done a huge amount tonight. I'd happily sacrifice the cup this season though and just focus 100% on promotion.
-
I do agree but the gulf in class has largely been self inflicted by this obsession with passing around at the back against one of the best counter pressing teams in the world. I do wonder if there will ever come a point where tactical rigidity is sacrificed for a more logical approach.
-
Worthy of a winner tbh. Top top top top drawer.
-
There has been a couple of occasions tonight where Souttar has looked pretty speedy surprisingly, he usually turns like a train.
-
This, think it's way too easy to blame a ref when you're frustrated by your teams shortcomings. Overall think we should be losing this on the balance of chances, thankfully they've wasted them, so I try not to blame the ref for a result, but he's been absolutely awful tonight.
