Mads Hermansen (close to 18m move to West Ham)
HowardsBulletHeader replied to MPH's topic in Transfer Talk
Don't be delusional. Jakub is fine, he will do perfectly well in the Championship and it will be great for his development to be our No.1 next season. But Mads is another level entirely, further along in his development of course, but he's everything you would want in a GK. When he's fit, he's an excellent shot stopper and great with the ball at his feet. Him and Jakub are currently a decent way apart ability wise. Business is business and he needs to go, for us financially and we are fortunate to have Jakub who is a decent enough replacement for the level we are at next season. But don't kid yourself that right now he's as good as Mads, he's not. -
Well that's a wrap then folks, close thread.

Had my annual rejection from the Masters for tickets. Cheers Fred Ridley, kids crying, beans on toast for tea for the next week, water only (unboiled obviously, can't use electricity). Hope you're happy, didn’t want to go anyway.

Blimey who upset you? Was it because an American won The Open? Golf needs to be more relaxed and not stuck in the 1930s with all the rules and etiquette pieces, make it more accessible, less snobby. This "never happened in my day" prehistoric attitude is just nonsense, the world moves on. Either you move with it or it moves past you. Would love to hear your views on golf hoodies, bet you had a stroke when Hatton/Day et al wore one.

Scheffler will win comfortably I'm afraid to say, just doesn't make mistakes.

If Harman and his waggling, painfully slow game take home another claret jug that will sicken me.

Genuinely a great attitude, loved listening to it.

It sure is exciting to watch, I'm on board but only a small portion so far, might drip feed some more into it over the coming months and try ride out the bumps.

Victor Kristiansen (an option for Forest, Percy.)

Didn't see that coming... at all. -
Fair enough, people interpret things in different ways. I took it you were digging him out, which I take back entirely.

Not sure of your point here, if you do your own research and like the stock Lako suggests then invest if you want to. If you don't, you don't. Some people in this thread have, some haven't. Simple. If you're taking investment advice from random people on FoxesTalk (or any internet forum for that matter) and not willing to do your own research to support it, you probably shouldn't have an investment account.

The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)
HowardsBulletHeader replied to Sly's topic in General Chat
Got out at 7am this morning for the 8k run following the app again and had to walk a couple of times for the first time today, which I'm quite disappointed about. I've gone back to the gym this week for the first time in months and my legs are still sore from Monday, so I perhaps shouldn't have gone, but I knew I'd want the exercise and by the evening it'd be hotter than I'd like so I went and did it. My worst times in everything as you'd imagine given the walking, really determined to keep going and keep at it because I want the fitness aspect from running! -
This course looks absurdly difficult, I'm off 1.3 index and I'm sure I'd have a job breaking 100. Imagine playing the Monday after the tournament without the thousands of ball spotters (spectators) around to find your ball, you'd lose so many, it'd be absolute carnage.

I used to be a member there 10 years ago now and it was always one step forward two back when I was there. Seems nothing has changed. Shame really as it's a decent enough layout with some good holes but just never really seems to land the right owners who consistently focus on the course. Its always target the food, beverage and driving range as that's where the profit seems to be. One of the pros I know well, they basically forced out and they lost so much business along with him. They constantly shoot themselves in the foot. The only reason I left all those years ago was because at the time they never had an intermediate membership, so I went from paying £150 a year as a junior, to turning 18 and paying £1200 full subs. So I saved myself £1000 by joining another club which was an obvious decision of course.

Couldn't sleep, lay in bed from 4:22am for an hour, so got up and ran my furthest ever run as per the app I'm following. 8k in 47:13, so hilly and so windy compared to what I'm used to as well. Found it really tough going today, but glad I got out there and did it. -

Ran my furthest recorded run today, just a shade over 7k in 41:47, definitely need to revise my thoughts of a sub 50 minute 10k. Would be lucky to break an hour! Not sure if I was feeling it from the run on Wednesday alongside 18 holes yesterday, but I felt like I got into the run ok. Not sure I could actually make 10k at the minute though, felt like my legs had gone by the time I reached my front door again! -

I can't actually believe I'm about to say this, but I'm enjoying running. Some days I don't do much, I'm following an app plan to do a 10k, so yesterday was only 4.5k for example but I felt loads better for being out there. I'm not good time wise by any stretch, but it doesn't matter, I'll worry about that for 2026's Rothley 10k! Averaging about 5:40 per km pace wise on the runs I've done so far. Probably quite rightly in my case, the app tries to pace you to a target and it feels so slow and its actually hard to run as slow as it wants you to on the "easy runs". Would love to get sub 50 at some point for a 10k, but I've never ran that far so I don't know what I can do now to give me a guide. Just sticking to the plan and keep on running for now! -
I had a look at the betting at some point yesterday, Vegas was -10 midway through his R2, Scottie hadn't even teed off R2 and Scottie was marginal favourite to win.
-
It's a classic PGA leaderboard, they're always weird early on. Scheffler at -2 despite having a very weird day looks ominous to me.
-
Barwell have apparently "stayed up" by virtue of most PPG across all step 3 relegations, big news for them if so.

Book yourself in at "Cafe Sydney" one evening for food. Make sure you ask for a table at the front with views of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, you wouldn't even know it's there from the road. Food is brilliant, views are even better.

Absolutely loved Princes, surprised you have Ganton above it having played both myself. All opinions of course! I want to do the 54 there one day, but think the dates are Feb and November which is dangerous for links golf! You're asking for trouble! Heard that Beau Desert have lost the greens currently due to fusarium, so avoid that for now. A real shame because that's a great golf course. Not played JCB so can't help you there, people say it's immense but just long, too long for most amateurs. All comes back to the tee box comments made in relation to other top courses, playing the correct tee box really increases your enjoyment.

Wout to Monaco (loan with ~€8m option, official)
HowardsBulletHeader replied to CloudFox's topic in Transfer Talk
Problem being that that relies on having the ability level to play at Chelsea, Man United which he currently does not. Yes, I do mean even the current Man United. -
Some list that.. County Down looks fabulous and Portrush too, would love to get to them both.
