Whilst on face value this is correct, Chaplin by his own admission, in an interview, stated that he's being asked to play in a different position to what he is used to by Martin and that he is adapting to that role. What position do you suggest this is?

What is amazing is that he's barely Championship standard, but played regularly for Belgium up until recently. Have Belgium a very limited supply of centre halves or am I missing something? I know many on here have questioned his arrogance at thinking his ability is better than what it is, he did however come over as a really nice guy when he talked to fans after the games in Spain.

Carr plays on the right - you could move Alves across to the left. However, I still think Carr would benefit from a season on loan.

We just may end up with better CB's at the end of the window if we can ship Soutter, Faes and Okoli out. Unfortunately, I think Okoli will stay, but Soutter to Sheff U looks likely and Faes will go somewhere on loan again. I'm hoping (not with a great deal of conviction) that there are better replacements lined up, who can play Martin's style of football more effectively than those mentioned above.

Or he could be like Mavadidi who has had no competition for his shirt the last 2 seasons and therefore doesn't try. Competition for places is good, makes players realise if their standards drop, they'll be replaced. Alves will have plenty of opportunities to shine this year. It's his job to take that opportunity whenever it presents itself.

The two stand out academy players in pre season for me have been Braybrooke and Joseph - both have experienced successful loans. Carr, Hutchinson and Neale would all do well and follow Otchere on loan and get experience of proper football for a season, hopefully coming back ready to make the step up next season. I think Aloku, Page and possibly Evans are capable of being in or around the first team as it stands.

But Chaplin and Burns have both proven to be highly successful at L1 level. Sometimes I think players respond well to who manages them (I know that shouldn't be the case, but when I've worked with poor leaders it demotivated me). Look at Winks, very good under Maresca, poor under subsequent managers.

With him being a bit of a headcase, alledgedly, perhaps he'll be an Ultrafox
