I think getting him on loan would be a good way to enable McAteer to get the loan he needs but we shouldn't be agreeing to an obligation to buy. He's got 4 goals and 2 assists in 49 Premier League appearances.

Loading up on squad players is exactly why we ended up in this mess. He doesn't improve the starting 11 so we shouldn't be paying money for him. Use free transfers and loans to bulk the squad up if needs be.

Spurs fans love him but don't think he's good enough in the same way they love Winks. I think he'd be a good signing for a low end Premier League/high end Championship side. I just don't think we need him and have more urgent holes to fix in the squad. Namely a striker, bit odd we haven't really been linked to one.
