I think half of the problem stems from this being the ideal way to play in the era where he actually seemed to give a ****. As you said, that brand of play seems to be losing popularity and those that play that way seem to be falling behind.

If the new manager is one of those drips that calls Aiyawatt "Khun Top" then you know for a fact we'll be in the same position in 12 months time.

Would it work with Nige and no Shakespeare? Felt like Nige struggled without him in his post-Leicester career. I would prefer Nige to come in as a DoF type figure. Someone that knows how to rebuild the culture of a club properly. This squad would throw Nige under the bus without a seconds thought.
