They aren't hiding his medical condition. I'm not sure if you watched the broadcast but they repeatedly referred to his condition and you could repeatedly hear him shout. Also, the film that was made about his life received three awards and much was made about how great of a story it is. But they didn't need to air him screaming that word and were right to apologise for failing to do so.

Exactly. The whole thing would have been avoided if the BBC did their job properly and protected him. If you honestly don't think there's anything wrong with that word then you need to educate yourself. It's a word that does upset people so editing it from the broadcast would have saved a lot of trouble in this age of misinformation and cancel culture. The poor bloke is now unfairly subject to horrendous abuse and has been labelled as a racist by the uninformed majority for something he had no control over. The BBC could have saved him from much of that.

You're being deliberately obtuse.

Editing it out doesn't mean they're demonising John Davidson or blaming him. It would have protected him from the torrent of abuse that people (largely Americans) have subjected him to. The BBC should have edited the broadcast so that people didn't jump to abuse a literal disabled guy who works as a caretaker.

The clip has been shared maliciously millions of times today. Of course it needed to be edited before it aired and the BBC were right to apologise for failing to do so.

It's caused a lot of damage and they really should have edited it. The clip does not look good and it appears to the uninformed that it's a hateful and targeted attack. Hopefully Jordan and Lindo are able to acknowledge that the incident wasn't preconceived or with any malicious intent and we can all move on. I wonder if Davidson will be invited to the Oscars. Judging by their reaction to this incident, I don't think Americans are ready for a similar outburst but it's very important that his story is told over there.

I agree that we probably won't have to worry about promotion but while we're in receipt of parachute payments we should be expecting a promotion push and we should be holding the club to that standard.

It's also annoying that three of Wolves, Burnley, Forest, West Ham, Leeds and Spurs will come down. You'd fancy all of them to at least get to the play offs.

I think that Middlesbrough, in an ordinary Championship season, would be in and around the cusp of tha play offs. I don't think they're a particularly good team, I just think that this current set of squads is quite weak in comparison to a usual season. There's only one player on track to get 20 goals and there's only 13 players into double figures. There isn't a player into double figures for assists. There's no goalkeeper to have played 30+ games with a clean sheet ratio better than 1 in 3. We're a side that is capable of going to a place like Middlesbrough and getting 3 points. Just as Oxford were the other day. Whether we have the mentality for it is another question but there is no player in the league worth being scared about. Both Middlesbrough and Coventry will drop a lot of points from now until the end of the season, just as they each have done all season. I'm not even sure if either will reach 85-90 points.

I actually think it highlights how good of a job John Davidson has done to highlight Tourette's in the UK. I think most people have seen or heard from him through various clips of documentaries. It's an awful thing to happen for everyone involved last night but all it has done is highlight the lack of understanding of Tourette's and Coprolalia.

It's frustrating that the media is full of ex-players who have very clear bias towards certain players and clubs. Every incident of cheating like this needs to be highlighted and more needs to be done to punish it.

We will undoubtedly have at least 30-45 minutes where it looks like we're a League Two side. Just have to hope that Boro don't capitalise on that.
