I said last week we need patience with the new manager and style, but these players, half of which were premier league last season, really need to buck their ideas up. Not good enough
-
Reading the thread during the game, 90% was people slating how poor it was at times… I get that, but I am (for once) showing some patience. Feels like some people are expecting prime barca after 4 games… our preseason schedule was pathetic, we should’ve been in the UK putting two teams out in 2 different games… instead we were doing a vanity tour of Asia! We have also had the same slow methodical Puel / Rodgers ball for 6 odd years. It was never going to change overnight. But at least there were glimpses today. Until the window is closed and we know what our squad is going to look like, and we’ve had 3-4 months of football, I think it’ll continue like today. But if we win while we are playing poorly, bonus. The manager has asked for a bit of patience so think it’s time we showed some

Not this early into the process we aren’t - still see too many Rodger-isms
-
Lots of work… gave up loads of chances

Weren’t we pissing the league? No idea why people think anything’s going to change with too many familiar faces and a crap preseason - going to take more new faces and about 10-15 games for anything to change

The new players and the youngsters all looked positive, the old players who have low confidence and loser mentalities need shipping out ASAP before it rubs off on everyone else -

Trying to change the losers mentality we have is going to be maresca’s biggest challenge. -

This team should look a lot different in 3-4 weeks time, so can’t get to distressed by the usual dossers playing badly. Castagne vestergaard Daka etc all useless - how Castagne is getting linked to Juventus is beyond me. Could be an indifferent start to the season - will take a few months to get a settled side and some fluidity - and this joke of a preseason won’t help, but we are going to have to try and find some patience from somewhere (me included) because anyone that thinks we are pissing the league from the off, is an ostrich -

What is the point in this. More brilliant preparation -
I still think there is a decent player in there but we never played him in or found his best position. When we signed him it looked like he played as a deep playmaker in the middle of the park… yet we were playing in an attacking wide role Don't think he ever had a terrible game, but didn’t impact many either. Time to say good bye

This is what we need! Saudi’s start buying our deadwood… send them vestergaard for free

One positive at least with Maresca… links / relationships with Man City’s u23’s etc. Cole Palmer for example who could be sent out on loan… opportunity to actually get some good youngsters in rather than the Ryan Bertrand’s of this world. -
Thought he looked decent in his first season but has regressed ever since. Get him gone for some cash and hopefully keep JJ fit
-
Brilliant player, his first half of his career here was almost faultless. But the second half has been plagued by injury (like so many) so probably time to leave
-
Norwich fans (friends) reckon his form has fallen off dramatically last 12-18 months… not the player they were expecting him to become…

They clearly (as we were told all season) had not thought about the possibility of relegation until the final few weeks of the season … hence no plan. It know a lot of this is on Rudkin plate and he’s massively to blame but it seems the whole of that football club was locked in complacency mode -

Had a Dream (or nightmare) last night that Gerrard was in charge for first game of the season... James Justin scored a worldie, completely against the run of play... then we drew 1-1... boring game, few moans and groans. It felt like a nightmare, but so real at the same time... -

Unfortunately, McKenna’s idol (or who he looks up to as a coach) is Rodgers… -

Not Potter... please - Although typical Rudkin, just wants his teams to play tippy tappy coached crap -
If he wants to stay, keep him - get back to full fitness and he will be one of, if not, the best full back in the Championship

Not Potter -
Surely we need to sell one of those three... Or are we not quite in such a mess financially as what some have claimed? Madders + one other I thought would be a minimum in terms of generating money, but we will also end up having a much lower wage bill once all the contracts have expired.

We’ll have to say that amazed me, the fact we kept a clean sheet at Newcastle is, for this season, quite unbelievable. Shame we didn’t realise 4 months ago we weren’t that good and a few more draws here and there would’ve meant we’d almost be safe by now by playing that way. Not entertaining I know, but that’s what you need to do when you’re down there. Shame really as it’s probably too late in the day but we didn’t get embarrassed again which is nice
