  1. I don't think he's going anywhere without getting what he thinks the club is worth, rather than selling it for what he can realistically get - and I don't think any fan action or protests will make a blind bit of difference. Sheffield Weds were way more motivated and vocal than us, and Chansiri only went when admin eventually forced him out. Wouldn't be at all surprised if it goes the same way for us as it did for them. You'd think selling for a lower fee would be preferable to getting next to nothing for the club, but then we're not dealing with the brightest people here.
  2. I'll save you all some time - they will spend 3 weeks trying to appoint Graham Potter, and then will end up going for someone shit like Matt Bloomfield or Liam Manning because they can do a good powerpoint presentation.
  3. Thing is, can you realistically see them appointing any of these names? They aren't going to go for Carsley, Pearson or Challinor because they aren't part of the pep-ball possession cult.
  4. There's still Chesterfield in League 2, give it a season...
  5. Isn't SFE basically a joke
  6. I actually think the transfer business is fairly good, I just think he's a shit manager. It's a strong squad for this league, I reckon someone competent could get a lot more out of them.
  7. I guess it depends on whether you see football as something you watch for entertainment, or whether it's purely about the numbers in the league table. I can honestly say that, apart from a short period under Brendan Rodgers, I have never enjoyed watching a Leicester game where we have played this 'style' of football - it's tedious, it's onerous, it's ponderous. Nothing happens for long periods of the game, there's no spark, no excitement. Even under Maresca when we won the Championship, the football was very, very dull.
  8. **** me, I really wanted to believe this one would work, what an idiot I've been. I really wanted Martin to come in, and for us all to be wrong about our misgivings, and for us to hit the ground running. But no, it seems to be playing out just as we all feared it would. This appointment was probably the most crucial one the club has ever had to make, and they have well and truly gambled with it. Martin was already an unpopular choice with the fans, and was coming to us on the back of being sacked by Southampton before going through a turbulent time at Rangers - he was always going to need to get off to a good start - he needed a better start than we would have afforded someone like Dave Challinor, or Nigel Pearson. Instead we've drawn with two clubs coming up from LEAGUE TWO, we've been beaten by Burton, we've been thrashed by Oxford, and we managed to get a win over the line - just - against Plymouth. It's been a truly horrible start. And the problem is, I can't see how it improves. What does peak Martin-ball look like? This obsession with possession over everything else is just ludicrous. Yes, we average 70% possession each game, but there's no intention behind it. The majority of our possession is the two CBs passing to eachother, out to midfield, then back to the CBs. It puts our defence under so much pressure, every single game, and leads to multiple easy chances against us. At the same time, it nullifies our attack too - by the time we have ponderously worked the ball forward, the opposition box is flooded with opposing players, and there's no room to do anything other than to take a snap shot that never looks like going in. There's no pace to it, there's no urgency, there's seemingly no plan. This style of football at the top level has arguably had it's day - fewer and fewer clubs are focusing on this Pep-ball possession style - I don't understand why we are so wedded to it? The smash and grab, blood and thunder style that won us the league - THAT is our identity. This desire to evolve us and turn us into an 'elite club' with an 'elite' style of play basically started in Ranieri's second season, and was cemented with Rodgers' appointment. I will give him his due, some of the football under him was genuinely very, very good to watch. But then we had an embarrassment of riches in terms of playing staff at times under him, and even then it quickly soured. We've been clinging onto the idea that this is how we MUST play ever since then, and I just can't for the life of me understand why Top and Rudkin think like this. Why they think that chasing this 'standard' season after season will somehow stop the rot and take us back to our glory days, when it was never what got us there in the first place. We averaged 42% possession the season we won the league - we did more with that 42% than we ever look likely to with Martin's 70%. He has to go, but so do the board and the ownership who appointed him - this was last chance saloon stuff, and to give Martin a three year contract, presumably on higher wages than most League One managers, is tantamount to negligence. And if they don't go, even if Martin is sacked, the root problem is never fixed.
  9. My dad has got a real thing about him being 'bang average' - can't understand why personally. Maybe a lot of people have heard about these 'prospects' in our academy and are expecting them to come out looking like the finished article? Or better than they actually are? No idea, but I find it very odd.
  10. I think we looked better because Ipswich are a team who won't play deep and put ten men behind the ball and try to hit us on the break - league one teams are a different proposition. Still, I thought we played well tonight. Missing that cutting edge up front - always seems like by the time we play ourselves into a good position, all the opposition players are back defending and there's no room to do anything.
  11. Commentators talking as though a point would be an acceptable outcome for this game. Must be on crack.
  12. Wtf is Choudhury doing there? Why is Bristric still on the bench?
  13. Bloke who hit the post looked offside anyway?
  14. Oh ****ing hell Rowett on comms 😂
  15. Crying out for some presence/outlet up front, sling on Bristric. BDCR was in midfield for most of the half.
  16. Thought you'd be happy? You had them putting 3 past us pre-match.
  17. Got it, no small player can be a striker if they're not prime vardy, cheers.
  18. It was more a comment on the fact that he couldn't possibly play as a striker because he's too small.
  19. Evans played the vast majority of his games on loan at Northampton last season as a striker, and he's the same height as Jamie Vardy.
  20. We generally seem to sanction these kinds of moves when we have something sorted, transfer-wise, so maybe there will be some activity on CB front soon. Otchere went out on loan when it was clear Bristric was coming in?
  21. I think if Souttar and Page both go in the next week or two, there will be additions in both of their positions, and those sales will probably fund other transfers in as well. Hate to say it, but I'd sell if we get anything like £9m.
  22. It would be galling for us fans to lose a bright prospect, but seems like that's just the game these days. Yes, we're a shambles of a club and we're being run into the ground, but I think he'd go to United if we were in the PL too. It's sad to say, but this is what success looks like for an academy at boardroom level - not whether you can produce talent for your own team, but how much profit you can bank from selling off your homegrown assets. A few million quid and a loan back is probably the best we can hope for.
  23. Interesting that they're calling him a winger. And with Otchere already on loan there, presumably he'll be the one playing up front? I always thought Evans was supposed to be more of a striker?
  24. Isn't Bristric basically signing today, and Cullen can play striker? Seems a lot of unnecessary worrying in this thread.
