  1. He seems ideal for the Dennis Praet role that we may need to replace. I.e. A midfielder, signed from Serie A, who's perpetually injured
  2. At least Bertrand has gone. We’ve also invested more in wages on Ward when you consider the length of his two contracts (This is a thread about Ward, but Alex Smithies's contract is equally scandalous if true)
  3. This is actually a bigger scandal than the f’kin Post Office!
  4. The context is that we’re thirteen points ahead of 3rd, playing away, to a team currently in good form who will probably approach this fixture like a cup tie. I don’t want to ‘take’ a draw as I really want to win the game, but it wouldn’t be the worst result if that was the outcome. It’s a very winnable game, as we are a better side than them, but we still have quite a few infinitely more winnable fixtures to come
  5. Whenever they schedule the next football league fixture committee meeting
  6. I remember earlier in the season when the Leeds fans were all over our board that one of them said Spence was the best full back in the Championship. Presumably based on his performances for Forest when last on loan here. I thought then it was probably underestimating the attributes of Ricardo and Justin who are proven at a level above. Spence is an interesting one. His career seems to meander around. Strangely loaned from Middlesbrough to Forest, then sold to Spurs but didn’t breakthrough, loaned back to the Championship with Leeds and now, seemingly, disappearing somewhere else. I wonder if there are some issues there?
  7. Given our wage turnover those numbers aren’t exactly convincing
  8. Winnable tie at home. Good draw.
  9. I actually blame Brendan Rodgers for giving this fixture a significance that it doesn’t deserve. Hopefully next season the natural order of the universe will be restored
  10. I’ve never really got this. It would only ever be a club in real decline where their fans have to define themselves by their rivalries. Derby and Forest fans have been trotting this shite out for years as we surpassed them both and went off winning trophies. I don’t really give any of them much thought outside the games where we actually play them. If we “don’t have any rivals” I couldn’t care less. I just want to beat them at the weekend and not give them another thought for the rest of the season - as I haven’t for the last 10 seasons or more
  11. Yes … Queen’s Park ….. I knew that ….
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67906994 Callum Davidson in advanced talks about taking over QPR. Remember him? (I had a sudden realisation that I’m old! )
  13. Now there’s an up to date cultural reference …
  14. I think it’s simple: Coventry hate Aston Villa who don’t care about them, but they also hate us. We hate Coventry (a bit), but hate Forest more. Forest hate us (a bit), but hate Derby much more. Derby hate Forest, but also hate Leeds ( for some bizarre historic reason) Leeds don’t care about Derby, but hate Manchester United (for some historic reason nobody remembers) Manchester United don’t care about Leeds, but hate Liverpool. Forest (rather laughably) also hate Liverpool as it makes them feel big in a way hating us doesn’t. That brings it back to us
  15. Yes! People should stop expressing opinions on a football forum and become relentless cheerleaders instead. Irrespective of team or individual performance
  16. He’s done very well so far, but I’m reluctant to get too far ahead of myself. In terms of a Vardy replacement we’ve been comparing every striker to him, so far, at PL level. Cannon has now come in at Championship level. He looks good enough for what we need right now and hopefully he’ll be good enough if/when we return to the Premier League. It would be good to get another forward fit and playing soon as I wouldn’t want him to carry our hopes for the rest of the season. It would be good to have pressure off and to just enjoy playing in a winning team
  17. A minnow at home please. It would be good to give the peripherals another run out. Build up their match fitness and improve their readiness for when they're needed to step in. I'm happy to wait until next season for a Premier League "test". If we go up we'll probably have a different squad anyway. Also, if we stay in the competition long enough, Premier League opposition is inevitable. I'm happy to wait until the semis
  18. Do we get more than 3 points for this one?
  19. I think this game will be a tough. They’re in pretty good form and will be well up for this one. A rare draw wouldn’t actually be a bad result, but no reason why we shouldn’t win. After the first game of the season if somebody had told me that we’ll be 28 points above Coventry after 26 games I’d have thought they were quite mad. They aren’t a bad side at all and that just shows how good we’ve been
  20. To play a reserve side and win is all you can ask for really. It’s never going to be the most cohesive performance. Job done
  21. I suppose the three likely starters in the next game are Ricky P, Casadei and Cannon. It will be interesting if the first two are withdrawn at some point, but not sure who comes on for Cannon
  22. He deserves it after that performance
  23. I suspect the comment was tongue in cheek
