Only one other man has done that. But yep, back to Carlos, it looks like he could be dominant for a rather long time.

And given recent developments in the US, it may well be that for the next few years they will be put into the role of global leader on changing energy infrastructure before the consequences become too horrible. Imagine that - China having to lead the way in actually guaranteeing the futures of hundreds of millions of people (minimum) outside their borders.

Nor is making it beyond World Cup quarterfinals, apparently.

And that the decisions they make have consequences far beyond their borders.

I don't doubt that, I've met more than my fair share of those exactly like that. Though I have myself also met some from there who were genuinely warm and didn't consider the US to be the centre of the universe. Further on topic, while I can understand the arguments being made in the AITN thread about how the Dems have messed this up, it's a bit gear grindy to see most of the blame put there and not on those who will, if things go the way they might in November, actually inflict the damage on the US and the wider world.

Were it not for the bowlers not finishing the job in the first test and the weather in the fourth it would have been 4-1 England, I honestly don't think the batting is too much of a problem. But fair enough. -
When it's great, it's very great. When it's bad, it's very bad. The disparity is the issue.

I think they reckon the batting will take care of itself and tbh I don't see how they're wrong on that given how this Test team has batted everywhere but India (which is unique). -
I see what you mean, but I can't get that cynical. There are loads of decent people over there, the problem is that the system means a smaller number of the ignorant and/or the malicious can cast a very long shadow on everyone else.

The US election (and by extension the future of civilisation itself) being decided based on TV appearances rather than policy. (Though if people really are picking based on policy that's even worse.)

I would make a remark about poor taste for going after the guys name here, but quite frankly the misogynist arse had it coming IMO.

The gulf between the biggest three teams and the rest at Test level seems very big right now. That being said, this Windies team did win a Test in Aus not too long ago so perhaps not as big as it seems. -
Right, and my affinity for humanity as a species is much stronger than either. Doesn't stop England men winning a major tournament being rarer and therefore more historic than Leicester surviving relegation. That being said, I get you when it comes to matters of personal preference and it making you happier is totally valid.

Yeah. Don't think it will matter here, though. -
Probably so tbh, but the way I see it in this case intent is far secondary to deed and quite frankly given the levels of historical enmity I don't think there's much reason to trust what is said regarding avoiding civilian casualties all round anyway. (Bear in mind this is coming from someone who thinks that, horrific Japanese war crimes aside, General Curtis LeMay himself committed a war crime with Operation Meetinghouse but got by with it because of reasons also used now and because winners don't commit war crimes.)

The matter of Gaza and foreign policy associated with it was already a tinderbox but now it really appears to have caught fire. I don't envy those having to find a solution when both relevant parties seem entirely fine with the death of noncombatants.

From what I've seen in the past, the recent England Cricket ones on YouTube have been decent. -
Fair to say, but I would add to this that right now, I think there are precious few voters who are now not committed one way or the other - Trump has made that "with us or against us" environment very clear since he started and it's also been clear in terms of actions.

Not a bad start for Atkinson then.
