Well, I got there in the end. 160+ applications later, I have started a full time job. Enjoying it so far and it has such a positive effect on mental health.

See above. More games for India. (And tbf to a lesser extent, for Aus and England too.) All about that TV revenue. -
Who ever is running the LibDem socials deserves what they're being paid. Great stuff so far.

Blame (mostly) the BCCI and the ICC for that. They want maximum revenue so they want India featuring as much as possible, hence the extended group format (which is at least a little better than the World Cup which just takes the piss stretching things out and excluding teams) rather than more knockout matches like in football. The thing could be done in much less time if it followed a similar format to the football World Cups. -
Still swear that our Prem win broke something in the space-time continuum because there's not been a decent year since. Worth it, though.

Next TV interview with Farage should consist of one question only. "What's it like to be political best friends with a convicted felon?"
-
I hope so, too. There needs to be more voices in Parliament putting pressure on wrt energy generation transition and foreign policy where such energy generation transition becomes a leading matter - which it is.
-
So... somewhere between Blair's 179 record majority seats and 220 seats as a prediction, then?

I think it (about 10-12%) tallies with existing polling information regarding "being British means being white", climate change ignorance and suppression of women's rights tbh. Mixture of older folks with one issue (immigration) voting patterns and younger ones radicalised by conspiracist Internet blackpill bollocks (which is the more concerning thing). Far more of an issue elsewhere than the UK, fortunately and unfortunately.

Just goes to show how much we miss Murray when on form. Making all four Slam finals is an underrated achievement.
-
Did the same around the same time too. Were a couple of situations where people would get a bit annoyed about their orders not being delivered exactly as they wanted it, but as you say, mostly OK.
-
I agree, but that is not happening from the powers that be either. The situation requires both transition in energy sourcing and pressure (such as can be applied) on other nations to follow suit. Selfish parochial focus on "energy security" won't save the UK from the consequences of what will follow should the whole world not do what needs to be done on this.

...hence the use of the word "vaguely" in my OP. But again, though, I know that "not as bad as the Tories" is not good enough for a lot of people and that's entirely their prerogative.
-
Well, happy from the point of view of learning a new matter of fact, rather than being happy at the corollary that no party of import in the UK has any idea of dealing with the biggest issue our species faces by far.
-
A climate plan that actually takes the issue vaguely seriously, but then I'm happy to be proven wrong there.
-
But I would like to think that they know the importance of having to hold their noses in this case, even though the choice appears shitty.
-
It's a possibility. That being said, I'm struggling to think of another scenario where it's definitely less of a possibility.

For full context, during his speech announcing the GE: "We prioritise energy security and your family finances over environmental dogma in our approach to net zero." "Energy security" - especially in the times right now where access to resources can be sometimes parlous - is just a buzzterm for relying on existing systems to benefit one's own corner of the Earth in the short term and no one else's. Not a viable survival strategy over the next few decades if someone actually likes human civilisation the way it is. Of course short-term saving money and "protecting our way of life" sounds really good because a lot of people are feeling the pinch right now, but long term it dooms everyone - including all those people struggling now. What he calls "environmental dogma" is simply viewing the long term collaborative effort to actually stave off the worst humanitarian crisis since civilisation itself first existed for what it is and act accordingly. I do get what you mean wrt human nature here and it's been said multiple times before, but as I've said multiple times before here too, the softly-softly approach and relying on the better angels of our nature and people to do the right thing has got us to where we are now - not good enough, not nearly good enough. Of course, the stick may well not work either for exactly the reasons you describe, but I'm not going to throw shade at people taking a more direct approach to this matter when the clock is ticking and with every tick the cost in money and lives to stave off very bad things gets higher.

Thanks to the vagaries of FPTP. But they do have numbers - more so than their left-wing counterparts, perhaps - and I fear anything less than a Roman triumph will convince folks that a lurch in their direction is still a viable option. Perhaps I'm just jaded by the last couple of elections where there were "genuine left-wing" MP's at the levers of power and everything went rather Pete Tong. Twice. Of course, there are a variety of reasons for why that happened, but the fact is, it happened, and I'm a bit leery that it wouldn't happen again.

Think it's more likely that the Reform UK types in all their glory would be able to wield more power without such a majority tbh, but I couldn't be sure on that. Were that not the case I might agree more.
-
I'll happily watch that in conjunction with a massive majority elsewhere.

Any lineup with Don Goodman in it is automatically the worst one, by definition, tbh.

This only proves not to set your expectations too high when looking at such things, mate.
