  1. He's not. He's a good player having a poor season that was affected by injury. It happens to the best of them.
  2. 10 games would have made way more sense. The 12-game thing is a mess. If they were desperate to mix it up and be non-regional then why not have a system where you have six "groups" of three so everyone keeps their local rivals for gate money purposes (I.e. us, Notts and Derbyshire always go in the same group) that band with another different group of three each year to form the group of six.
  3. The Old Vic's a better shout than The Station, I'd say. Black Horse is an all-timer though. For anyone who bums micropubs The Guild Ale House and Winckley St Ale House are both decent gaffs between station and ground.
  4. Not near the ground but The Continental is great. Judging from stickers in the bogs it's popular with away fans too.
  5. None of then will care in the slightest. How could you care about a team made up with the sole aim of pleasing rich investors, rather than representing areas and people?
  6. But by close I mean it was obvious by the time a quarter of the game was done who would win. Even the results of crap T20s aren't set in stone that early.
  7. Working my way through a Beers of Europe voucher I got for my birthday. Patrizier Hell is a new one, but so many returning Bavarian beauties I couldn't scroll past There's never been a shit beer where the label's the colours of the Bavarian flag, has there?
  8. It's an awful format in general. People might mock somenody claiming an extra 3.2 overs a side can make a difference, but Peter Trego was right when he said it. That extra time gives a side the chance to recover an innings and be respectable or competitive. Scored a 100-ball tournament earlier this year and there wasn't a single close game. It's just dull.
  9. Available on no fewer than four channels, including two that don't require sports subscriptions, all at the same time. I think I know what Sky Cricket subscribers would say if you asked them whether they'd rather have had coverage of one of the One Day Cup games today... At least with the T20 Cup/Blast the pathway was logical and the marketing sound: Get pissed at the cricket with your mates > Start enjoying the cricket > Start following that county in other formats > Start following England > Grow older and have kids > Get your kids into cricket. I know quite a few lads who followed that exact path and it's worked over the course of a couple of decades. With The Hundred it's: Watch a team who exist three weeks a year in a format played nowhere else in world cricket, if you're lucky enough to live in one of the seven cities where it's played > Forget about cricket for 11 months until it comes back again, if you remember you were into it 11 months ago.
  10. "Ignore all of this it's football we want."
  11. Fvcking hell. Unbelievable action. Every ball counts, does it?
  12. Lovely walk between the two as well.
  13. Yup, proper day yesterday. Very enjoyable to catch up with you both. Proper sesh round the Derbyshire Dales with a few Harborough Heads yesterday: Town Street Tap (Duffield), King William (Milford), Holly Bush (Makeney), Dead Poet's (Holbrook), White Hart (Bargate), Arkwright's (Belper).
  14. Really stupid comments. I know groundsmen can be officious, but belittling the guy like that was just needless.
  15. Allowed them to play Kimber as an extra spinner. Guess they were unsure how Rehan might go after his injury.
  16. Mad day. Really thought they'd blown it until Derbyshure decided to act like they'd never seen a turning ball before. Rehan was the third spinner today too. Wild.
  17. Baffling morning. Pitch looks reasonable.
  18. Pre-Oasis pints in Bury on Sunday. Stuck to lager as sessioning. Thornbridge Bayern lager at The Trackside, Bury - Trainspotter pub at Bury steam train station with a good selection. Riegeler Bier at The Marketside Tavern, Bury - Sucker for a German beer I've never heard of. Busy micropub with a chatty barman who chucked Oasis tunes on as soon as he saw my mate's t-shirt. Diamond lager at The Friendship Inn, Prestwich - Placcy glass and too rammed to fully appreciate, but I do enjoy a Joseph Holt pub when up that way.
  19. ECB will be all over Somerset after today...
  20. His bowling's come on leaps and bounds this summer though. I thought he'd go on to be a white-ball hitter who bowls a bit, but he's better than that. Right now he'd get in solely as a batsman or solely as a bowler for us across three formats. Genuine allrounder territory. Looking forward to seeing him bowl on this deck if today's turn is anything to go by.
  21. Hotel's a 2-minute walk from it! Can't even be blamed as the missus picked the location and the travel agent picked the hotel. Will probably pop in for a token pint and pic of the shirts on the walls etc.
  22. Just perfect singalongs. Was saying to a mate last night I think it's all so enjoyable because if you're our age Oasis just reminds you of being a kid.
  23. Richard Ashcroft was absolutely brilliant too.
  24. Can safely say that was the best gig I've ever been to. They just look and sound so good. Managed to avoid any setlist spoilers and it absolutely blew me away.
