  1. That's a phrase that would land very differently on the Falls Road. You're right though. Cracking city but not sure how Stag-y it is? Guess if you keep to the centre and don't act like absolute dicks you'd be fine.
  2. Ha! Never pulled that one but I did once successfully get my missus into a routine of having an afternoon siesta on holiday in Madeira once. By the Saturday, it coincided nicely with Maritimo's kick-off time.
  3. Enjoyable weekender overall, despite a mad dash from Brussels Zuid to Brussels Nord with just 15 minutes to make our initial connection to Cologne after what had been a relaxed 2-hour layover there. The way Belgians do delayed trains is so weird. Duisburg v Oberhausen was a good atmosphere without being mind-blowing for a local derby. Ended up being part of a full stadium tifo. We left at half-time as one of the lads had a bad cold and was shivering his way through it, but still managed to see the game's only two goals. Bochum was great, as always - despite the result. Never managed to bump into the other group of Leicester who were over, but seemed like they had a great time from the messages I got. Found Leverkusen more impressive than I was expecting. Some of the best stadium acoustics I've heard and still retains quite a unique identity for a bowl ground. Was in the Hoffenheim end and they were poor as you'd expect, but Leverkusen blew them away on the pitch in the first half. Had a couple of missiles land near us from the upper tier - a reminder that there's usually an edge to even routine games like that in Germany that you don't get here. Good weekend in all. Must tick off one of the Hamburg or Berlin clubs away with Bochum next, I think.
  4. Amen. It's the standard of officiating that's the problem. You shouldn't be running the line at an Under-5s game if you can't flag an offside like that.
  5. Heard him on this week's Mike & Vittorio podcast. Seems very funny.
  6. Just chilling at out hotel in Cologne with a Früh Kolsch radler.
  7. Off to the Freiburg home game on Saturday, turns out another group of Leicester who met some Bochum fans at the Chelsea game will be making their first trip. Looking forward to meeting all for a nice pre-match Fiege Pils or two.
  8. Oh dear. "None of my Bravo Girls could be a Traitor..." Aussie one's started going that way too, which is a shame as I like the different variety of challenges they do.
  9. Is it all "celebs" again? Why do they do it?
  10. A 71 Brewing pale ale at The Moorbrook in Preston. Another new find in a city with an underrated pub scene.
  11. Most nations would say the same about English green seamers. Teams know the score before they tour, but few have the players to master hostile conditions these days.
  12. Lived in one, worked in three. Family originating in three or four further places within our borders too.
  13. That would mean you have to sack the current board of directors first...
  14. West Indies leading by nine after two completed innings on day one sums up how this series has gone.
  15. Found it at my local Everard's gaff in Derbyshire. Assume it's in all of their pubs as it's their 175th anniversary beer.
  16. Er, he did choose - and continues to choose - to run it. He's not sat in the director's box at gunpoint. He is, however, gleefully front and centre any time we're doing alright on the pitch.
  17. Those people shouldn't be running historic institutions adored by hundreds of thousands of people then.
  18. That should have been when the alarm bells were ringing for everyone.
  19. Haven't seen it anywhere for ages.
  20. Tiger Triple Gold. The best limited edition pint Everard's have ever done.
  21. Just on a Kent Brewery Old Skool best bitter in the King Charles I, Kings Cross, before the train home.
  22. Yeah, mobs committing insurrection are famous for knowing where to draw the line.
  23. Nazi salutes are sound now because common sense
