I read up about it, seems pretty cool but very niche - software emulation for the most part is pretty spot-on with older systems these days, and surely most people who want to play the vintage games want the original systems to play them on? I dunno
-
Who's the lucky feller? Yeah I used to love Point Blank - think I paid £90 pre-order with the G-Con when I was 11 (about a year's worth of pocket money, totally worth it). The RPG mode was bags of fun

I used to collect games but found it a burden so got rid of most of it. Like an idiot, about 5 years ago I sold 2 boxed complete Master Systems, 100+ boxed games (with instructions), 3 sealed official controllers and a couple of the rare card games for about £150 as I couldn't be bothered to do it all separately. God knows what it would fetch in today's market If you're interested I still have a Sega Saturn with 12 or so games and a light gun?

I think the 20 pixels that make up his face are, but he was 22 when Alf debuted. -
Depends what you do with them. Good meaty wings cooked properly have better surface area and more skin/meat ratio. Thighs are good if you want a meatier dinner (and they are good value) but if you want hot wings then thighs aren't as good, with less surface area vs meat Good hot wings can't be beaten. But shit wings (the flats or ones with very little meat) with no decent seasoning or coating are pointless Ps casserole is just about the worst dinner going. They take ages to cook, all the vegetables go limp and tasteless, everything just becomes one bland lumpy soup
-
Hope you enjoy it - I can't stress enough just how good those wings were though, next time I go I might do away with the burger and just get a tonne of the wings, or try the chicken burger with wings. Oh god I can't stop thinking about it If you are getting a burger I'd recommend checking out the paid toppings (macaroni cheese, onion rings, cheese curds etc) - as good quality as the meat was, I had mine just with the standard cheese, salad and whatever sauce they put in and it was a little on the bland side. Nice enough and good quality, but just lacking something. It had a flavour more like a roast beef sandwich compared to other takeaway burgers you'd normally get

This almost does warrant its own thread. I tried Phat Buns (Loughborough) last night at the recommendation of some mates, burger was good (sort of Five Guys type deal), tater tots were nice, but fvck me - mango habanero hot wings.. not only the nicest wings I've ever had, but I'd put it up there with the nicest things I've ever eaten full stop I ate that 14 hours ago and am still in awe of how nice they were If I can get one other person to try them and appreciate them then I class that a success. They are outstanding

How much do you like being in a greenhouse? Imagine that, but much bigger and more humid. If you're into plants you'll love it, if not you'll question why you're there very quickly

Best Indian restaurant in or near Leicester
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo replied to Fazzer 7's topic in General Chat
My ex wanted to go there on a whim once, I thought it looked rank but when we served the food I was bowled over. Really nice stuff At the time I had an Indian colleague and I mentioned it to him and he took the piss (but had never eaten there). A while later he got a marketing job with a food delivery app and had to sample their menu for work. He texted me apologising, that was the only time in 5 years of knowing him that he admitted he was wrong -
Acknowledging Laughter in Textspeak
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo replied to Nalis's topic in General Chat
😂 Or 🤣, if something genuinely makes me laugh I'll probably text "🤣🤣🤣 that actually made me laugh" "lol" these days usually comes across sarcastically I find, but if I'm telling a friend a funny anecdote I might end the text with it because if I put the emojis it feels like I'm bigging my own story up too much -
What on the roads has annoyed you today?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo replied to Parafox's topic in General Chat
That drives me absolutely nuts - if you have any common sense, you'll be aiming to get to 60-70mph before joining and just check your mirrors early in case people aren't letting you in in which case you slow down (or stop if no chance of getting in safely)*. There is nothing to be gained by pootling up a slip-road, all you're doing in that instance is making it more unsafe for those behind and looking like a less than predictable driver is a distraction to those already on the dual carriageway. You should get points for it *The only sliproads I can think of where heightened caution is really needed are the two at Wanlip on the A46, where you've got zero run up and terrible visibility. I think the sliproad heading towards the Hobby Horse roundabout is the only one where I've ever had to come to a complete stop in moving traffic, and just praying whoever is behind is paying as much attention. Whoever designed those sliproads needs a kick in the teeth -

Depends on the situation. I've come across some nervous wrecks on dual carriageways/motorways before doing 40mph or so and thought it's only a matter of time before they're involved in a serious accident -

What Game Are You Playing At The Moment ?
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo replied to LeicesterBran's topic in Music and Gaming
I played the Ori games back-to-back in the wrong order. If you like Blind Forest you are going to love Will of the Wisps, the gameplay is better, there's more thought put into the layout so you always feel you have a reason to backtrack and the map is much bigger, it's a great game If you enjoy Metroidvanias and you haven't already played, The Messenger is a must-get. Guacamelee 2 isn't bad either -

Back in the old days of working in an office, me and some colleagues had chipped in to buy our own microwave for the kitchenette, and the cheeky gits in an adjacent office used to use it without asking - fair enough, but one cvnt decided to start cooking kippers in it, and it would render the kitchenette unusable for about an hour after. The third time he did it I left a post-it on there "NO FISH THANKS" written in large caps. He didn't do it again. I don't know how you could think it was acceptable to cook something with such an obviously offensive smell in a public place, mind you this guy was a **** and a half

Cost of living crisis.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo replied to Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot's topic in General Chat
I really recommend Smarty - I pay £10 a month for unlimited calls, texts and 60GB of data per month. No contract, 5G enabled and they let me use my data abroad (12GB a month under fair use, £1 per extra GB thereafter) Other cost saving measures for me have just been sensible things like driving less when possible (and driving more sensibly), sticking to my shopping list when I got to Aldi, ordering fewer takeaways etc - if you make good day-to-day habits you'll save more without thinking about it, like being mindful of switching off appliances/lights that you're not using. I recently ended my Amazon Prime membership after I realised I barely ordered anything from them in the last year and I hardly watch anything on Prime Video, so that's £8 a month back. I pay £15 a month to be in a union and now I'm questioning whether that's actually of value, when my job was earmarked for redundancy a couple of years back it was my line manager who saved my job (and he wasn't part of the union), the union rep was handy to talk to for basic advice but I found they didn't really get their hands dirty at all, just attended 1 or 2 video conferences as sort of visibility -
Cost of living crisis.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo replied to Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot's topic in General Chat
Out of interest, what was the difference in price offered between your flexible monthly cost and the fixed price cost? When I was offered it from e-On a month ago, it went from (fixed) £82 per month to £145 flexible. The only fixed they offered was £182 per month (12 months), which I turned down -

Yeah that instructor was a bit of a douche, also that test was late in the afternoon and I was told it's common for instructors who've reached a quota of passed tests for a day to be under pressure to fail drivers after that, don't know if that's true but I took my test again 2 weeks later (different instructor) and passed with 2 minors -

So many drivers assume that "their" lane means it's their right of way, no matter what, and will not take into consideration that these kinds of circumstances will happen on our narrow roads. What pisses me off in this situation (if it's "my" lane) is when you see one vehicle already committed, so you stop to let them go and then a bunch of other cars behind them take the piss and go so you're stuck there like a lemon for what feels like an eternity I actually failed my first driving test on your exact scenario - it was a narrow road in Melton with a long row of parked cars on my side of the road (which also curved to the left so you could only see about 100 yards ahead) - there was nothing oncoming so I started to pass the parked cars, then halfway an oncoming bus appeared and had to stop to let me proceed. I got a major for that, asked the instructor when we got back to the test centre what the hell else I could have done in that situation and he gave me some bullshit back. Ridiculous
