  1. Kristensen has been quietly going about his business. The fact nobody is talking about him much is a good sign. Dropping him would be stupid.

    Ukraine

A good thread from a great Ukrainian poster about how the war may be winding down. another thing of interest to me is that Russia has gotten North Korea to fight for them but Belarus still hasn’t. Everyone says Belarus is a Russian client state but I do think Lukashenko has played it very cleverly throughout this war. While it’s clear they are a strong Russian ally, he has somehow maintained a sense of independence from them and is clearly rebuking Putin in spite of some very strong pressure. Maybe he’s terrified of being overthrown or maybe there’s something a bit deeper going on.
  3. It’s going to be a slug fest and we’re going to have to be patient and to take the chances when they come. They seem very strong defensively but we have players to cause them problems and to produce a moment of magic. Smash and grab again maybe?
  4. Different sport but he’s basically the balls on the line sort of coach that Cooper should learn from.
  5. Horseshoe theory, both hate NATO for example.
  6. Next season I could genuinely see Piastri outpacing Norris too. A bit more experience under his belt, and seems to have more about him.
  7. Easy Well, I'm not the world's most passionate guy But when I looked in his eyes, well, I fell for Okoli O-O-O-O-Okoli O-O-O-O-Okoli Well, I'm not dumb, cos I’m a Leicester fan And the way he heads the ball and then he beats his man Oh, my Okoli O-O-O-O-Okoli O-O-O-O-Okoli
  8. Remember the case was not “was the police officer right or wrong to shoot him”, it was whether it was murder or not. The first one is massively nuanced and the officer shouldn’t escape the professional consequences of his actions. However the second one appears a lot more clear cut.
  9. This is Emery though, his European record is crazy. He knows what it takes over two legs and you’ve got players like McGinn and Duran that can score from nowhere
  10. Horrible feeling Villa are going to win the champions league
  11. Yeah nicely summed up. Ultimately two truths can exist at the same time. Black people are disproportionately stopped/criminalised/profiled by the police due to institutionalised racism and unconscious biases that are left unaddressed. Kaba was engaging in deeply dangerous and immoral behaviour and as Patrick O’Shea once said “play with feathers, you get your arse tickled”.
  12. I don’t think people are blinded by the points and league position. The criticisms are still scathing in spite of two wins. Parts have been very poor and parts have been half decent and we’re still on 9 points from 8 games. But we’re scoring goals, we aren’t the absolute defensive mess that some are saying we are (compare to 2022/23), although we need tweaks which other more technically minded posters have pointed out. The only objective truth are the points and league position. 2022/23 was “we’re too good, our league position is false” Now it’s “we’re crap, our league position is false”.
  13. Chuffed that I’m in the centre ground on this one 🤣 Just because it is all of those things, which it is, doesn’t mean that it’s applicable in this case outcomes. I would imagine that they knew this man was not to be messed around with. But we’ll never 100% know for sure whether unconscious bias played on the police officers mind, but that doesn’t mean he should be convicted for murder. So it’s really a different argument.
  14. We’ll never know for lots of reasons. I would like to think no but you can never tell. From the evidence in the public domain, it subjectively is not murder even if he shouldn't have been killed.
  15. The Martyn Blake/Chris Kaba case is an interesting one. From what we know I think the jury came to the correct decision. In an ideal world he wouldn’t have been shot but we don’t live in that world in those particular circumstances. In terms of the wider picture, I think it would be damaging to tie this case into a systemic discrimination argument (which is a very real problem such as in the Bianca Williams case), the individual factors are so strong that this was a murderous man in a desperate headspace.
  16. He intimidated and threatened people and caused a very high level of trauma. I for one would not like a justice system where people don’t get sent to prison on the basis that they may end up harming themselves once inside, as nobody would ever be sent to prison.
  17. Forest fans are generally the most doomer fans that I know. A few got excited during the Cooper championship run and way back in the Fawaz fridges banter era when they first got money but only in the same way we thought we’d be class under Mandaric when we first got money.
  18. Some of the best people on this forum are Wolves and Watford supporters. Very random but bring a lot to proceedings.
  19. He pushes the limits and is well aware of the rules. He has a ruthlessness that others don’t have. I think Hamilton is a much better driver than Verstappen but Verstappen is an absolute winner, and Norris needs to find that dog in himself.
  20. Bad results coming out the Moldovan election and EU referendum. I would put money on the Russians hacking or corrupting the counting.
  21. Absolutely crap.
  22. What’s happening in Nottingham is really sad. The amount of homeless people and street drug use is pretty wild and like you say, I think Leicester is probably better these days.
  23. I find it interesting that you pick up on lack of creativity and give good justification as to why that is the case. However, we have scored the 9th most amount of goals in the league. So we are creating chances and we’re creating chances in every game we play. It’s an interesting juxtaposition I guess, because I agree that we lack creativity but the chances and goals were create, defies that objective stat. Or an exciting interpretation could be, just how good we could be if Cooper just let the shackles off.
  24. It’s like Starmer campaigns on a message of ‘national renewal’ then immediately goes in hard on austerity. Do they really think that’s going to win them the next election and solve the issues of this country?
  25. The problem they have is that the centrist system that made everybody richer and more affluent in the 90’s, no longer works for the masses, yet they’re all pretending that it does. The super rich are looting the system and the masses are becoming poorer and poorer, with less and less. Quite frankly democrats climate policies are still pathetic compared to most of Europe, even China are doing far more in terms of renewable energy investment. It almost feels like tokenism to me at times.
