It’s hilarious that people thought this would be done by July 1st. The chairman doesn’t care and the rest of the idiots in charge haven’t got a clue (perhaps due to a lack of high level direction).

I’m not totally against that, it gives every team the chance of becoming county champions at the start of the season.

His only competition around that time was 40 year old Shaun Udal. Monty had a much better test bowling average than Giles which I think says it all.

I think two wins from the last five will pretty much guarantee promotion, especially if we avoid defeat v Derbyshire. I can’t see any more than one other team, probably Glamorgan, getting over 200 points. We’re still in a great position folks.

Good end to this game. 96 ahead, 7 down with 16 overs remaining (minus 2 for innings change). Think Glos need to hang around for another 7/8 overs to cling on. Glamorgan could probably chase 12-15rpo if needed so would want 8 overs chasing I think.

England are going to win this series 5-0 and it’s going to be bad preparation for the ashes. India are pants. Odds on Gambhir surviving the series?

The problem is that people still act as if the 90’s and 2000’s are the norm whereas they were actually the abnormal boom. Post 2008 it’s been a slow decline while everything lead up to the late 80’s was beset with societal and economic issues. So as living standards have dropped, more people are experiencing mental health problems and disability to the extent where it affects their ability to work. In the 60’s or 70’s the mentally unwell men would drink their problems away, while the women would stay at home. Now we do better than drink our issues away and more women work so we’re in completely new ground historically.

Looks like Derbyshire are going to lose. We just need Gloucester to hold on for a draw v Glamorgan and not too much damage done overall.

Have also seen Dyche hammered regularly in the Castle pub in Nottingham while he was Everton manager, make of that what you will.

Well we will have our best bowler back for one. One of the issues of the last two games has been not having Holland to tie down an end. Hopefully more of the bowlers will be back fit too.

Holland will be back from America. Ahmed just needed a rest I think as he has a side injury but will be fine. Hull is playing for the seconds today unless it’s his brother(?), Scriven seems to struggle to stay fit. We should be fine. We could really do with an extra batter finding form, it’s really been Ahmed who has been scoring heavily recently

What sort of bowler is he and how old is he? Those figures in a second XI game can’t be sniffed at.

Next game is v Derbyshire. Given the likely table after tomorrow, a win will be one foot promoted territory, so we have to get everyone back fit and firing. Rehan, Holland, Scriven and Hull all have to play.

Trevaskis was unlucky, looked like a pea roller. Rishi and Budinger awful though.

Budinger just isn’t cut out for this sort of situation. Bad temperament. At least Derbyshire are also likely to lose. Glamorgan hopefully will draw at worst.

5 sessions would be a very long time to bat out for though not impossible. They’d only get two new balls too. These guys have shown the pitch is offering little for the bowlers still.

Can’t say I remember it for age reasons but sounds good! Wood has great technique, was surprised he’s 11.

Just seems to be silly mistakes. Hill’s was embarrassing, Handscomb edged one that did nothing.

Why are people dooming? So what if we lose this? We’re 40+ clear of 3rd and we will have everyone back for the run in. Yes it’s annoying but we weren’t going to smash every game. Selection was still terrible though.

At least Lancs are well on top v Derby and one of Glamorgan and Glos will likely lose although a draw would be ok.
