  1. Potter wanted the job, he just realised that it would be pointless taking it on with our current director of football. Hence his request to bring his own person in.
  2. We will hopefully get a good fee for him when we go down, has stepped up.
  3. Players can’t stand him. Fans are already having this reaction, for the sake of the club, go. I tried to defend him after that friendly loss but well done to those with the foresight.
  4. Would be even better with Vestergaard.
  5. Because, he’s gone to the owner about not playing.
  6. Apparently, spoke to the owner about not being selected.
  7. He’s okay in the right situation. Today against Ashley young wasn’t the right situation. Actually embarrassing that a professional football manager couldn’t change the fella quicker.
  8. He’s not happy, he’s not playing.
  9. Good point about Derby. Their city is a couple of tiers below either here or Notts, we maybe have the equivalent with Northamptonshire but it’s certainly not those numbers. Plus, they go to Milton Keynes quite a bit now.
  10. The park is amazing to be fair. I’ve taken a few people for tours around there and people can’t believe it’s in the Midlands, let alone Nottingham. I should know more about Nottingham regeneration funding, given my line of work but the city does have a greater national profile than we do, unfortunately. It’s an uncomfortable admission but one I’d argue is true. I wonder if they’ve received more funding from various sources, private and central/local, because of this. Whilst it’s difficult to quantify national profile, I’ve always wondered if previous governments have seen putting money into Nottingham, as a tick box for the entire East Midlands region.
  11. Yes but have to remember we’re lucky to have not lost New Walk. Smigielski saved it and the crescent to an extent, although the ring road went through Roman archaeology instead. Maybe it’s that attitude that shows why we’re not pushing on further, we can do better. I agree about De Montfort we need a really good venue, easily accessible within the inner ring road. Whilst our cathedral does not demonstrate architectural significance on the same level, that others do, you’d hope King Richard’s presence will make things better. We have the alterations nearly ready and once Jewry Wall Museum finally opens, we might see a higher footfall in that area.
  12. I said this last year but got laughed out the place, those stating that this is normal practice for big companies. But isn’t this quite worrying?
  13. Nottingham does well for pubs. But actual city, and I include suburbs within the city boundary, we are far nicer. Snottingham also only has 1000 years of history, we have 2000 plus. I once did a paper on how Leicester’s municipal buildings don’t project enough authority over the city. Whilst I didn’t use Nottingham as a comparison, a lot of people just think of Nottingham’s Council House, within their ontological security of the place. But there’s not much else.
  14. I think most cities are like this to be honest. I think we do alright but there’s some glaring bits where we could do with a bit of a luck.
  15. Sounds like you’re a Palace fan.
  16. If Harvey Barnes was fit for the whole of last season, I don’t think Gordon would’ve made the England Euro squad. Murphy plays on the right.
  17. No because he wants to bring a DOF with him.
  18. It’s a good job pensioners are not more likely to need extra medical provision.
  19. Went to the Holy Tavern in Farringdon on Saturday pre Palace. Had a pint of Mayflower by Southwark Brewing. Worst pint I’ve ever had, tasted of cigarettes. I’ve had Mayflower a couple of years back at the salmon, I know it’s a good pint. Had a Palace Pale in a pub near the ground after, that was good for 3.50.
  20. Why can’t we do it for the club and the fans, rather than a previous owner?
  21. But within the context of the Championship, he was unnecessary.
  22. Not sure he’s twice the player of Winks. He’s had one bad game, was very good against Spurs and Fulham.
  23. I think Cooper could be gone a lot quicker than we think. If the players aren’t liking him, then this is what normally influences the ownership. With Rodgers, the players were still clearly quite behind him, as evidenced by their interviews since his departure.
  24. In all honesty, the most concerning thing is that in each game, we should have done better than the result we got. Whether that was turning a loss into a point, or a point into a win, Cooper hasn’t been able to make the game his.
  25. Him and Vestergaard would be great together.
