I’ve watched some Bologna this season and I think we can do much better than him if we get promoted, especially for a player who’s normally in such an advanced role. He’s a bit of a clunky player but, hey, that’s just from the few games I’ve watched and I’m no top scout. He’s definitely a robust presence on the pitch.

There were a few mix-ups and he was caught between decisions a couple of times— I think he’d admit he had a frustrating day at the office but I totally agree with you on his movement. He’ll bring that to every game, which is a huge advantage for us, even if his finishing isn’t going well.

Had a rough game last night but that’s totally fine after his prior two performances. Give him time and he’ll rebuild his chemistry with his teammates.

He goes back to Sporting over my dead body. Sign him up, whatever it takes.

This is a ridiculous exaggeration, especially after a game when we completely dominated possession and he was extremely tidy with the ball. In fact, he wasn’t dispossessed once and only misplayed one pass. We need a striker who creates space, draws defenders out of position, helps us overload key areas, and can quickly break past the lines. Daka is showing he can do all of that in this division.

But there isn’t an organ like that going on during the game. The only thing remotely close during the game is the goal music, which we’ve still had during some of our best atmospheres. The excuses only hold so much weight.

ARE YOU HAPPY NOW, @Ric Flair?

And win the game, like we’ve done more than any side in the country this season.

Iheanacho had a very rough game but his play on the winning goal surely earns him better than a 4.8 average rating. -
Not nearly as painful as it was reading your post.

Saying we’re fine when we’re top of the league is nothing like the mentality that saw us relegated. There were always going to be growing pains this season, especially now with a new manager who has only eighteen league games and one transfer window under his belt. The squad is still incredibly unbalanced. We still have FIVE goalkeepers on the books.

At this point in the 13/14 season (the year we tore through the Championship), we had 38 points and had lost to Doncaster (relegated), Charlton (finished 18th), Forest at home, and Wednesday (finished 16th) and were just about to get spanked by Brighton. We had won only two games by 3 goals, something we’ve done 3 times this season. We rolled the dice with the lineup yesterday because we could afford to and it will help keep some of our players fresh through the festive period. We’re playing a new system and have more transfer business to take care of in January. I’ll panic when we blow the auto promotion places.

He’s also very tall.

It’s the Championship, it’s a grind. We have to be pragmatic and get through the 46-game season or else we’ll pull a Leeds and burn out and blow the season.

Seriously, can you imagine large groups of Atleti fans acting like this about Simeone’s tactics? We’re playing some incredibly effective football compared to the rest of the division— we’re on pace to break the points record and some think we need a Plan C or even D! Plan A is working. 😂 We just dominated Watford and were missing arguably the best player in the division. The players are finally loving the football they get to play, we have an international footballer saying he wants to stay and fight for his playing time, and, yes, I’ll repeat it: we’re on pace to break the points record.
-
What we would have done last year for a squad that scored a little less but could actually defend… 😂
-
As some claim or as you’re claiming? 😜 We’re top of the division and 10 points clear of the playoff spots after only 17 games and still on pace to surpass the Championship’s points record. We have the best goal difference in the division, by far, and have only conceded 4 goals at home. And we’re still doing all of that with a few square pegs in round holes. I do think your ask is unfair at this point. We’re the best side in our division but we’re not the Harlem Globetrotters. Did any of us really expect to start the season any better with an unproven manager, a squad that ended last season in total shambles, and a total revamp of our tactics and culture? Our only task is to get promoted on our first attempt, not to cover the spread in every home game.
-
C’mon, Ric. How many goals should we score a game to satisfy everyone? The retirement for us to rip apart teams on a regular basis is a completely unfair standard for Enzo and the state of our rebuild. Yesterday could have easily been 4- or 5-nil if we had more composure in the box and it was an obviously dominant performance. We completely outclassed Watford.
-
What kind of breakneck style can any side in the world play when the opposition sits off like Watford were? I think some folks are also confusing poor composure in the box with bad tactics— that was a dominant performance yesterday, viva il Enzoball.

I watch a lot of Boca, this kid is going to be a star but he pretty much exclusively plays on the flank. I have no doubt that he has the skills needed to develop into a number 10 but he really does not play in that position for Boca.
-
I think it’s fair to say we dominated the first half but were absolutely terrible in the box — I should have been a bit clearer. Completely agree that our overall game was better in the 2nd half.
-
Did anyone see a replay of his chance in the first half when he had a step on the defender? It certainly looked like he was pulled back but I haven’t seen a replay.
-
We completely dominated them in the first half and probably should have been up at least 2-0 by HT.
-
Yeah, I was wrong 😂
