Bit did we just have a team of players who had reached their level. Were any of the players attracting attention from the Big Boys back then? As mentioned before, loyalty demands a choice. Me staying in my job for 10+ years doesn’t mean I’m loyal, it means I’ve never bothered looking for a new job, or been approached.

I'll go both ways with just our club: Kante: WON the Prem and left after one season. Ranieri: WON the Prem sacked the next season. Loyalty is a fickle mistress!

The same Vardy who left Fleetwood Town after one season when they were promoted? And rightly no-one here would expect he made the disloyal choice, it was an obvious upgrade that 99.9% of people would make.

And let’s not forget the fact that the average worker got about £10 per week in 1961. So not astronomical today’s wages but certainly a very, very good wage.

I keep hearing the phrase a lot recently “There’s no loyalty in football anymore!” I’d just like someone, preferably one of the no loyalty anymore brigade (and it always a brigade!), to tell me when this mythical time was when all footballers and managers were loyal to a fault? And never left to go to a better club or for more money? To my knowledge good managers and players have always left clubs to go to better/bigger clubs. And vice-versa bad players and managers have been sacked or bombed out.

That abomination would only be (partially) acceptable as a goalie strip…

I also think all of our biggest moments that have warranted a pitch invasion have come with us not playing (Champ ‘14, Prem ‘16 and Champ ‘24) or playing at Wembley.

We were starting to get battered towards the end of the match, no way we were going survive extra-time! Also imagine if we missed out on promotion to Leeds by a point knowing we should have gone 2-0 up at there place. I can’t help being one of those fans who prefers a correct decision, I find it easier to accept. And all those who say it’s part and parcel of the game and makes a talking point - let’s not forget how long we were all bitter about Chelsea in 97. The ref was threatened I believe!
