The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)

Looks like Tissington is probably about the best bet if I need to drive to it. Can you remember if there are points where you can get off the railway track and go up the hills? -

My plan has got my down for 25 miles this weekend. Ideally, I want to go out to somewhere with hills and trails so I can replicate my race by using poles etc. Can anyone think of anywhere closer than Derby Dales? Ideally I will catch a train so I don’t have to drive after. -

Not the time to get personal with his wife. -

I’d rather have someone fresh and rested for the run in than having to work 24/7 over a weekend in the international break. -

Easiest race I’ve seen to do exactly that to be fair. -

Yeah it’s out and back. It’s not too bad, not the most scenic but enough to keep me going and flat. It was my other halves first half marathon and I wouldn’t have done it otherwise. -

Monsal half was a decent event. Very flat and quite scenic. I think my only criticism has been mentioned before and it’s how narrow the track is. At the start and near the end it can get quite congested. I needed to do a 23 mile long run this weekend and couldn’t carry on with it yesterday so I’ve gone out and done another 10 mile top up this morning. Quite looking forward to doing nothing today now. -
Nice one, that will be class. I’m at the Royal Albert hall tonight for Garbage and Placebo.

I felt the same when I went to Italy recently. I know Bergamo well but to go there and see their high streets thriving on a Sunday night made me jealous.

In my mind the way out relies on pure luck. Like you say, the next three seasons (at least) are going to be woeful. Regardless of the division, our squad will be youngsters not good enough and gamble free signings. The luck part, is if a few of them free signings are gems and/or some of the youngsters come good which buys us enough time to stay in the division before we can rebuild. Realistically, I think it’s points deductions and relegations triggering further points deductions and potential relegations. I’ve said elsewhere many times, even if we get new owners now the immediate future is baked in because of this utter mess.

Tell me we aren’t using Macquarie loans to run the day to day business.

I’ve got the Monsall half tomorrow followed by a gig in London that I’m driving to and then home. I need to be doing 23 miles in my plan this weekend so I’ll end up having to do another 10 on the Sunday. Vile -
You would hope that nobody is faced with the choice of either that or nothing, E.G new season ticket holders being forced to buy them or miss out. If not, then it’s down to choice and anyone paying that is a bit daft. I’m not defending the club but I’m paying £500 for 3 games at the World Cup in the summer so comparatively speaking season tickets still offer some value.

Double the chances of getting a place, albeit still slim. -
Anyone that’s ever eaten Red Leicester will be eligible.

The club send around all comms that are going out to staff members 15 mins before the public.
-
Cheers for the reply. The whole of the FAB being bound by an NDA sounds very heavy handed, it would make sense to have specific sections covered by this but I guess it’s easier for the club to cover it all to prevent any ambiguity. I understand you won’t be in every sub group, minutes will never be perfect but if you able to increase the accuracy of what is covered in 50% of the meeting it would help the club and Trust I think but it does sound like you are on the same page with this anyway.

Crazy times. -
Would have been good to see Daka there instead of at Watford tbf.
-
The B and M “get a bag in comment made me piss. I went to Malta to watch England play a few years ago and found my mate in a bar talking to two lads from Carlisle. One of them talked about how a typical Friday night involved his Mrs “getting a bag in”, my mate asked him if he meant chips.
-
Now I don’t necessarily disagree with anything you say, but I have heard that Daka was having his own 1/1 sessions to try to improve so I’m not sure if it’s desire, he’s just absolutely wank.

Crazy achievement managing to do this every year. I managed to do 5k with him while doing my own long run, must be brutal stopping and starting while running over 70k on no sleep.
