  1. https://lowdownnhs.info/nhs75/does-the-nhs-have-too-many-managers/ The highlights Only 3% of staff in NHS hospitals are employed in management roles a lot of staff hold management responsibilities whilst also working on the front-line in patient care employing full time managers will enable clinicians to focus on patient care. Top NHS executives paid far less than industry equivalents Too few managers leads to expensive use of management consultants Approximately 3% of staff in NHS hospitals are employed in management roles and this is a much lower level than in the economy overall in England, where 11% of staff are employed in management roles. The truth is the NHS is massively understaffed when it comes to managers. There is too much to manage and too few to do it. Resulting in the problems we have. Oh and before the "Diversity Manager" argument comes. Bear in mind the NHS does things to people that you wouldnt let your nearest and dearest do. Cultural and religious sensitivity is needed. You have to have someone somewhere that knows this stuff. And it isnt just about "immigrants". Fish on fridays is still a religious thing for some folk.
  2. But those are more opinion than conspiracy theory. The one you cite depends on a definition of richer/poorer. Monetary or educationally or health based. Millionaire working 7 days week or on the breadline laying on a beach?
  3. The big problem with answers like this is... Once you take away the research and the figures you are left with peer reviewed science. Essentially the "discussion" comes down to "I dont trust scientists and experts because bigpharma, wef,who etc etc". Once the flerfers and chemtrail crowd deny what they can see with their own eyes you've lost. A genuine conversation with a chemtrailer Me: what happens to the temperature if you go very high up, say mount everest? Chemtrailer: It gets cold Me: what happens when you go outside on a cold winters morning and breathe out CT: You can see your breath Me: Yep, water vapour. CT: Yep Me: Do you think that burning Hydrocarbons - jetfuel - in oxygen - air - creates amongst other gasses carbon dioxide and water vapour CT: no no you're not getting me like that
  4. Arrived in my email inbox 15 minutes ago. Do they do it on purpose?
  5. I'm having problems with my season ticket for the womens team. Mens is fine. - oh no it isnt! So 2 season tickets, 2 games this weekend, it's thursday and Ive not got a ticket for either. Ticket office said this morning that they are aware of issues. "We are currently aware of an issue that has prevented some devices from updating for the Bournemouth fixture, it is something we are actively working on to get fixed today"
  6. Maybe should have sad "That took way longer than t should have done"
  7. That took way longer than it should have done
  8. While we are at it - "Concentrated". As in "they got to stay concentrated for the 1st 10 minutes of the half" They are footballers not a carton of orange juice. And while I'm getting it off my chest the Lynx advert. "Do you want to smell premium?" What sniff petrol?
  9. Maybe its me, but I've been saying for a while that the league have been looking for a way out. Man city and Top et al have deeper pockets than the prem and could keep this going until they bankrupted the prem with legal fees. Add to that it makes for a farcical competition if you start every season with 3 or 4 teams with threats of points deductions. The best league in the world starts to look a bit rubbish. Maybe this is the "deal" that gets them off the hook. Can we expect an announcement in the next few days that proceedings against man city and Everton and others have been shelved and a new set of rules will be in place next season? I know they are doing that anyway but they might get someone with more than a gcse in law to have a read of it this time
  10. There will be rises, but anyone with half a brain knew that. I suspect we'll see changes to tax relief on pensions that seem to favour the well off. For example £250k lump sum tax free isnt something most "ordinary working people" can lay claim to. And on Capital gains tax, again something most folk dont need to bother with. It is paid at 20% for higher rate (40%) tax payers - why?
  11. You gotta be a bit of a Star Wars nerd for this - sorry. Space Centre, Leicester A few years ago, they had a Star Wars themed weekend including the UK Garrison, basically a group that dress up as Star Wars characters. They raise money for charity and all that stuff https://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/501st-uk-garrison.html Anyway, walking across the car park and there are two Storm Troopers, looking mean and menacing (tbh they are quite scary), watching everyone walk by. A woman with two small children walked past them. The kids were dressed as Jawa - small hooded characters. Storm Trooper looks at them and says "Ah - Jawa" Mother without missing a beat waved her arm in a circular motion and said "these are not the Jawa you are looking for" and carried on. I dont think Storm Troopers are supposed to laugh
  12. I have a theory, it's mine, feel free to rip it apart but here goes... Lets say that Melchester Rovers board knows that almost every game is streamable for free. Melchester fans wont pay anyway. They'll pick up a link to stream off MelchesterTalk forums. Meanwhile the owners of Melchester, a worldwide hotel group offer all their guests (whether they want it or not) streaming of the game in their rooms and pay Melchester £10 for every room it is streamed to. Thereby generating a several hundreds of thousands of pounds of revenue that otherwise couldnt be pumped into the club under FFP rules.
  13. has there ever been a "connect".. I had a row with Pierpoint about season ticket holders and the way the club treated us - about 25 years ago Missed a trick. Should have put ST prices up by £25 and offered a discount for a eticket. The reason is obvious. They dont want us lending our card to others. They want us to sell the match ticket back at ST rates and then sell it on at full price. It's all about maximising revenues It's poor, but when have they ever done it? Really? What we havent bought any players for 3 years? No, they have used legal argument. If the rules are badly written, then they should look for loopholes. Everyone else does/has Man City, Man U & Chelsea to name 3 Gambled and lost. It happens. Should maybe have sacked Rogers earlier but he won the FA Cup for us. Cut price? Who? If no one buys at your price then you sell at the price someone wants to pay. We have always had to do that. I remember being at a talk by Alan Bennet 30 odd years ago and him saying that NatWest told them they HAD to sell Kevin McDonald to Liverpool I seem to remember folk saying the same last season Plans are there, planning is there. They are ready to go when the team/circumstances are are right. You'd have an argument if it was all hot air, like it was throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's. Beaumont Leys, my backside! Define incompetent. The fact that we've won stuff, been in europe, signed some of the best players we've ever seen at our club and most of them for loose change. Yep been relegated, but then I'm not sure there hasnt been an owner in our history that hasnt done that.
  14. "Parasite", "Brentford, Brighton & Palace" better run than us? Bear in mind some thought it was a fiasco under Pierrpoint, Kinch et al in the early 2000's Just before we went bust and we've still won EVERY domestic honour whilst Villa, Everton, Leeds, Florist, Newcastle etc etc have won the square root of Scottish Football Association. The last 25 years under numerous ownerships have been the most successful and most disappointing in our history but really, some folk need to take a look our history and at the rest of the league if they think we are poorly run.
  15. The absolute state of some of the comments in this thread. Good grief. Some folk on here have no idea of what a poorly run football club looks like. I'll just place this here. If you'd like to see where the great teams we should try to emulate appear on the list.
  16. Wasnt impressed today, but then I said - walking away from Sincil Bank - "dont rate the Fuchs much". Be delighted to for it to proved (yet again) that after over 50 years of watching this lot I know the square root of SFA about football.
  17. Did you have to pay extra for that?
  18. Really? Better than Saka AND Bellingham? Okayyyyyy.
  19. Commentator manages it. Shearer cant
  20. It does. Thankfully we've now got rid of "Boris" and are back to nearly grown up politicians. But I digress. Is there any reason Rice is on the pitch?
  21. Am I missing something? Kane, Saka, Foden. Why is it Trent? Is his name backwards and he's actually Alexander Arnold Trent? Shearer is doing my head in. Either all forenames or all surnames.
  22. Forest are going for it https://www.thebusinessdesk.com/eastmidlands/news/2086656-work-commences-on-nottingham-forest-ground-despite-months-of-speculation Shipping containers!
  23. I know it's not a picture.
