  2. Nah We three kings of orient are one in a taxi, one in a car one a scooter, papping his hooter smoking a big cigar
  3. I could watch clever people explaining clever stuff all day. I'm sure it'll be on iplayer. Worth a watch. The anti-vaxers wont watch but if you are one of those that is/was worried it was developed in a bit of a rush, and are a a bit hesitant. She explains the how/why it was done in months not years without compromising safety.
  4. Staff - pure and simple. They were a Boris vanity project. Total waste of time and effort. Locally we readied and opened a number of old wards that had been mothballed or coverted to other uses. But the big factor is and was staff. To staff a ward 24 hours 7 days a week you need 4/5 physical people for every Nurse on the ward. And there arent that number of qualified staff sitting about with nothing to do. The NHS runs on a simple model. But to vastly over simplify it further... All year -"back ground noise" of emergencies & stuff that cant wait - cancer treatment etc Summer - add in electives - non life threatening but needs doing Winter - Flu, pneumonia, old&cold, other "winter related" health stuff Last year (and this) add in a brand new one - Covid - and we struggle
  5. I'm not sure anyone is talking about a post xmas lockdown in the UK. A quick google of the news feeds didnt result in anything of significance. In fact quite the reverse, at least one expert indicates that xmas may provide a mini fire-break. Asked if the UK was closer to the start of the pandemic than the end, Prof Paul Hunter tells BBC Breakfast he "wouldn't necessarily agree totally with that". "I think this virus is around [and] going to be around forever," he says. "The last time we had a big coronavirus outbreak we think was 130 years ago and that virus is still circulating, we get infected with it fairly regularly, every three to six years, and it basically just causes the common cold. That is likely the way that this pandemic is going, so we will be repeatedly infected with Covid, we will be repeatedly infected with new variants but by and large, they'll just be another cause of the common cold." When asked about Christmas, he says there are actually fewer interactions between people over the festive break than during the working week, so he does not think family gatherings are "under threat". And on stopping future variants, Hunter says we must make sure every vulnerable person around the world is vaccinated, but this “hasn’t happened to any great degree”. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-59545557?ns_mchannel=social&ns_source=twitter&ns_campaign=bbc_live&ns_linkname=61adc517531c2c47333600ec%26This coronavirus will be around forever%2C says diseases expert%262021-12-06T08%3A33%3A00.056Z&ns_fee=0&pinned_post_locator=urn:asset:5304d250-a7c7-4818-a488-f70c264ff0bb&pinned_post_asset_id=61adc517531c2c47333600ec&pinned_post_type=share
  6. You have heard of the smoking ban in public places and tax on sugary drinks havent you.
  7. The rest of us rely on the NHS for other things. Meanwhile you may end up occupying a bed due to ignorance, belligerence, selfishness or stupidity. I'm not sure which it is. No one is dictating to you what you put in to your body. You dont have to be vaccinated. But lock yourself away and dont go out. That way you wont bother the NHS or the rest of society and we will all be fine.
  8. Given that 2nd doses is running at over 80%, if vacciniations made no difference you expect 80% to be vaccinated instead it is a ludiucrously caliculated 65%. I say ludicrous because that figure is about as useful as the daily deaths figure. Admissions within 28 days of a positive test. You could have covid a fortnight ago and be run over by a bus and you'd be hospitalised with covid according to those figures. Forget deaths - they are the same 28 days. the only worthwhile figure is https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/healthcare - Daily count of confirmed COVID-19 patients in hospital at 8am, This is the only figure worth looking at. The "patients on ventilators" figure was calculated as the number of patients in beds that were capable of supplying mechanical ventilation (whether it was used or not was anyones guess). The definition has changed and is now unclear if it is acutally the number of people in MV beds or those that require MV.
  9. Do you have a source for that? Anecdotal evidence... https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/21/icu-is-full-of-the-unvaccinated-my-patience-with-them-is-wearing-thin However Vaccinated do get covid Vaccinated will get Omicron Vaccinated will die from Covid However The vast majority will get a milder illness than they would had they not been vaccinated The vast majority wont end up in ICU than they would had they not been vaccinated The vast majority wont die than they would had they not been vaccinated Just for comparison 4/12/20 16,298 daily cases 15.727 in hospital 4/12/21 42,848 daily cases 7,363 in hospital 80+% vaccinated, over twice as many cases BUT half as many in hospital. That is why there is an obsession with other peoples vaccination status. Last winter the NHS "coped" with 35,000 hospitalisations, just. Much more than that will see pictures like we saw in Italy in the early days.
  10. 50 time per second just isnt fast enough. Ive rambled before about VAR at 60 frames per second. The maths Usain Bolt et al run 100m from a standing start in 10 seconds 10 m per second 20cm in a 50th of a second Assuming a rapid defender (Maguire need not apply) and a our own JV both from a running start... A defender sprinting away from goal combined with an attacker sprinting towards goal gives a margin for error between "data points" of up to 40cm. That's quite a lot!
  11. really? Lets say 5 watts per hour to run the clock - 120 watts per day. 840 watts per week. 1 kwh every week and a bit https://powertothekitchen.co.uk/do-microwaves-use-a-lot-of-electricity/ suggests 5 watts as a guide - all I could find. 800 watt microwave - approx 1200w per hour of use https://www.sust-it.net/microwave-ovens.php If you use it for less than 40 mins per week....
  12. I read a stat somewhere that the digital clock on your microwave uses more power than you use to heat things up, it depends on how much you use your microwave, but I can see a grain of truth in it for some.
  13. If state sanctioned computer hacking, murder, smuggling, counterfeiting & the utterly brilliant song about CNC machines is your thing - The Lazarus Heist. N Korea/CIA/FBI/Hollywood/Defectors/Nuclear weapons, it's all there. Did I mention the CNC song?

Coming the big I am - someone giving it large Mother in law was worse Cod froze - to be very cold tit in a trance - a confused person
  17. No, I mean Milan Mandric bought the ground back. He bought a majority holding in the club from the consortium that included Linekar & Heskey and the ground from the bank that owned it. "Milan Mandaric has confirmed this morning that he has made a bid to buy Championship side Leicester City. The announcement comes less than two months after he relinquished his role as non-executive chairman of Portsmouth. The offer is expected to be in the region of £25m, with £10m going directly into the club, and the remaining £15m enough to buy the ground freehold from the current owners, American banking firm Teachers." https://www.theguardian.com/football/2006/nov/01/newsstory.leicestercity
  18. Yes, it was after the administration. But it was at a time when the club didnt own the ground. There is this perception we got a new ground for free. But Teachers lent the club (old company) the money and they took ownership of the ground when we went bust. They were desperate to sell to anyone, they just wanted their money back. We were so close to ending up like Coventry. Mandric bought the ground back. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2006/nov/01/newsstory.leicesterci
  19. Despite what the left hand side may say. Peter Taylor took half a season to get rid of everything MON had created. Pleat was just a victim of the times. It was still dreadful though.
  20. V Grimsby at Filbert St, 80's sometime. Pen 3 took exception to the Grimsby Keeper being called Nigel (Batch iirc) It started with calls of "oooh oooh Nigel" and just went downhill. He fluffed an easy save. cue chant of "Give it to Nigel" Pulls off a half decent save "Nigel is back whoa whoa" Poor bloke did nothing other than be called Nigel!
  21. Since you brought it up, why should I be the only with this going round in my head. You're welcome
  22. There's always one https://metro.co.uk/2021/08/20/right-said-fred-star-hospitalised-with-covid-but-still-refuses-vaccine-15126800/
  23. Was saying this earlier. Going down the city on saturday, watching the city, looking forward to seeing the city. never just city (that's any old city. Norwich? Manchester?). My team is THE City. and never foxes (or filberts)
  24. As a former referee I have to say in my case it was probably fair comment
  25. At the risk of this thread falling down a very different rabbit hole Strictly speaking western, southern and central Asians are also caucasian. It's based on skeletal structure rather than skin colour. Its also total rubbish and has been consigned to the history books. It's only in the US that it means white European.
