Southampton 5-0 post match mutual touching frisky party
Finnegan replied to Daggers's topic in Leicester City Forum
Let's not have our Arsenal moment now thinking we're up mind. Need to go and beat Preston now. -
Commentators acting like we've not hammered anyone this year. We pumped them four one at their own gaff.
-
Great for confidence and hopefully not necessary but also, let's be honest, just in case it's nice to get that goal difference nicely back up above Leeds.
-
-
Brendan Rodgers could only ever wish to be half the manager Emery is.
-
All Forest memes aside, though, I absolutely do think the refs audio with the VAR should be on the broadcast. If I got to redesign VAR, and I'm confident I could do it in a way the majority of fans would accept, one of the first things I'd be looking to do is make it more transparent. In cricket and rugby you can hear the ref / umpire talking to VAR equivalents. Not sure why it'd be such a problem in football if they've got nothing to hide and it'd help the viewing public understand when there's a delay.
-
Ah well. That's game over tbh.
-
Not just that decision though is it. All three goals were bonkers. They should be two nil down, they've basically been hammered. One of their worst performances and they somehow have three. The first was the stupidest penalty you'll ever see and the second Boro basically just declined to defend
-
FWIW, in case I sound salty, we got unbelievably spawny against WBA they should have scored about 10. Can't bemoan Leeds a bit of luck. But Christ I feel we handed them the four leaf clover after full time at the weekend.
-
I'm genuinely astounded by anyone's argument against VAR being that that goal "shouldn't need VAR." You literally just watched it happen - as you did like, probably ten million times before VAR? For what it's worth, I agree VAR should work with a proper benefit of the doubt rule. They should watch it maybe twice at something like half speed with a max of like 30 seconds to make a decision and if you can't in that time you just give the goal. If you're having to draw lines on the pitch to work out if a pixel of a toe is off or onside then I agree, benefit of the doubt should go to the striker. But shit like this? It takes one re-watch at half speed and a brief pause to see he's blatantly a country mile off just as it took one re-watch earlier in the year to see Daka was onside because a defender kicked it backwards. This shit is easy to clear up in seconds. Before VAR, an absurd amount of goals by the likes of Mo Salah and Harry Kane were literally five or six meters offside with linesmen just asleep at the wheel. You all act like this is just a freak one off that shouldn't happen but this does all the time.
-
Sure and yet. History has seen some absolutely unbelievably bad offside calls in both directions. It is impossible for a human linesman to be looking at both the ball being struck and the defensive line at the same time, our vision just doesn't work like that. Reviews of offsides should be as much of a given as goal line technology, it's just obvious. Leeds will never get three easier goals than this, just bonkers.
-
I am so ****ing fed up of the lack of VAR in this league. I don't give a shit how many trogladytes want to cry about armpits, there's no excuse for not having it for offsides. It's cost us multiple times this season. Shit like that could cost us promotion. It's not even close, there's borderline daylight ffs.
-
Leeds look absolutely shit. They're in a bigger tailspin than us. If Boro hadn't literally given them two free goals they'd be facing a hiding here. Boro get Thomas off and there's still time yet.
-
What a ****ing hit that is. 2 all.
-
Boro defending against us: Boro defending against Leeds:
-
Aw come on. Let Bamford take it.
-
What an absolute donkey. Why do that.
-
Leeds are falling apart again
-
Not the best start, agent Thomas.
-
OK boomer.

Mh, I used to think like this. But I don't think you can, really. Partly, you have to be very naïve to not accept they have a huge amount of influence over what happens here, especially when an absolutely maniac like Trump gets in. But secondly, I think Ian Hislop had a point really in a really good piece he did jointly with Jon Stewart where he was saying we tend to get everything they do, just about five years down the line. You know, in one post you express an irritation about the disproportionate over-prevalence of debate around Trans people and then in the next you bemoan discussion about American politics but American politics and it's influence is exactly why we have most of these culture wars anyway, the politicisation of the word "woke" has become a fundamental part of American politics, so has the stripping down of politics generally in to this fevered Left vs. Right sports teams-esque fandom that's killing critical thought and bipartisan co-operation in Western democracies. That shit is important and it's all born out of the US. To that end, it does matter how successful people like Trump, DeSantis, Boebert, MTG, Gaetz & co are because large chunks of Europe (include ourselves) largely end up playing copycat.
