Last time in the Championship, Fatawu had 0.61 G+A p90. Mavididi 0.45. Not a winger but just for a bit of further context, KDH 0.64. Manor Solomon last year, 0.76. And we're not talking pathetic, selective sample sizes, we're talking 28.8 lots of 90 minutes. Yeah, he's a significant upgrade, he's far too good to be playing in the Championship. The problem isn't his ability on the pitch, it's his history of multiple knee surgeries which is how he's wound up struggling enough to be loaned to the Championship in the first place. If he genuinely is over the worst of that now, he'd be an excellent addition to a squad that is struggling to both create and score.

There's absolutely a lack of detail on the smaller leagues, I'm not disputing that, or suggesting that fbref is the best site to use. I'm just saying it DOES have stats for the Austrian Bundesliga and the Danish league, including all of his goals and assists.

If we are actually looking at a 22 year old from the Austrian bundesliga (and it could very well be a nonsense rumour) then I wouldn't describe that as a panic buy. Buying <24yos for cheap from smaller European leagues, developing and upcycling them for profit is exactly how we should be operating. A panic buy is lumping on for Bamford on deadline day because he has experience at this level.

No no. Fbref only shows top five leagues and continental competitions in its visuals, which is what was loaded above. Fbref has massively comprehensive stats on every player in every league. Their data comes from opta iirc. William Boving, in the Austrian Bundesliga in 24/25 got 5 assists in 24.1 lots of 90 minutes which is about 0.21 p90 (0.2075 if we're being picky) and is nowhere near rank 1 even just for forwards.

To add, he got 16 goal contributions (11+5) in 24 lots of 90 last season. Playing in Austria and Denmark it's the only time he's exceeded 0.15 goals per 90 minutes having made his debut 5 years ago. Those percentiles are warped but I wouldn't describe him as the most exciting player we've ever been linked to.

My point is that it's a vicious cycle. People know we're desperate for the money. Plus, a lot of our best players don't want to stick around because of the mess. We aren't in such a strong bargaining position.

Wants to be careful, really. At Genk, there was obviously concrete interest from another team who were specifically bidding and he'd agreed terms with us. Brute forcing his way out of the club was reasonably straight forward. Here, we actually seem fairly willing to sell him, we literally just can't afford to let him go too cheaply because we'll take losses? We can't help it if other clubs want to sign other players. With Palace all but wrapping up Pino, there's currently not concrete interest on the table, is there? We can't force someone to come and buy him, if there's not any genuine interest then he's going to have to knuckle down and try and put a shift in to convince a club to buy him in January. I'm not sure he's in as strong a position as he thinks to actually start burning bridges.

Not entirely accurate tbf. FB's defensive stats were a real standout ahead of BEK but with the ball neither were brilliant with FB having better dribbling and scoring stats and BEK better passing ones, which is what you'd expect for the players they are. Happy and motivated they'd both be excellent in the Championship. I thought, on the whole, BEK was more use to us last season, he just had absolute garbage playing around him in a terrible system. Pretending BEK is now rubbish just because his agent is being a dick and he's trying to leave is silly.
