The importance of Percy to us isn't that he's the first to break news it's that he doesn't open his mouth until he's pretty ****ing sure and whoever his sources are, they're right most of the time.
-
We'll be lucky if Rudkin rustles up half of that We'll probably just break even with their remaining amortisation and be glad they're off the wage bill.
-
I appreciate wanting to hear the managers opinion on players before moving but some should just be being shown the door in advance, frankly. The likes of Soumaré, Kristiansen, Faes, they don't want to be here, their career here has finished, they just have to go. I know it's harder with someone like Daka because we're threadbare in his position, but we should have started the fire sale for others on day one.

My biggest concern is that it' snot coming from a place of good practice but one of necessity. On paper, our situation should be moderately strong this season. We've got the worst of the debt years moving off the rolling 3 year window, the wage bill has come down a lot just through deteriation, so has our amortisation committments, we should be able to sell a few of the awkward players far more easily this window. We're in an odd situation where we're still pending punishments for PSR breaches previously but actually moving forward we should be ok? But all of that is working under the assumption that Top puts in the same amount of money that's been par every year. There's obviously the distinct possibility that he can't afford to prop the club up anymore. It's all well and good saying we should be sustainable and self sufficient but the majority of the top, say, 30 odd clubs in the country these days are getting cash injections in the form of - at very least - loans from their owners in order to spend. Like it or not, it's become part of modern football, if he can't afford to do that anymore then we probably just can't be competitive.

Yeah I'm sorry, I can't understand people who got themselves hyped as **** for Rohl but think Cifuentes is a no mark. I'd say they're very much taken from the same pond. I'd argue Cifuentes shows better consistency with our chosen way or playing, whether the fans like that or not. Both will be completely wasted if we persist with the same off-field operating model with Rudkin at the helm, anyway.

This cracks me up. Having a trip down memory lane, looking up old FM 2006 player profiles. Different time, man, the ratings used to be so absolutely bonkers on players. Like this Vincent Kompany would be basically one of the best forwards in the world in FM 2024: But my particular favourite is one of Robert Huth where he's got 15 pace and 16 free kick taking

I mean, if you're asking the British public, you're going to get Prison McPrisonface very quickly.

For a brief, happy moment I forgot about Rodgers. I take it back. He'd have insisted Riyad stop dribbling.
-
Imagine if Riyad had stayed as long as Vards, man.. I feel like Riyad did well at Man City and deserved his place in their squad as much as anyone. Obviously won trophies there. But still feel he actually peaked here. He had more freedom.

Apologies, I can't be arsed checking 14 pages to see if this has been posted already, but one of the big English football youtubers is a QPR fan and produced this when Cifuentes went there. What makes me laugh is he could pretty much be describing Enzo for large parts of it, haha. Looking forward to that penny dropping for half our fanbase.

This probably benefits us a little to be honest. Whilst I desperately wish we had the operating model of a better club, we're still tinpot enough to expect a manager to do everything. I may be being extremely condescending towards Sandefjord, AaB and Hammarby but I imagine a manager has to be an actual manager at their level. At the end of the day, the most important part for us is how well each of these guys can coach the squad and get a reaction out of them and frankly you might as well flip a coin. Cifuentes' football matches Top's vision more than Rohl's, that's about it. I'd probably slightly prefer Rohl but I'd be content with either.
-
I don't know but Ben Jacobs is mud wrestling Alan Nixon at the bottom of the pile. That said, about a thousand journos all at once seem to be in a rush to break the Cifuentes news and Percy has said he's a leading candidate. I think we can be pretty confident he's one of the two "unnamed managers" that had also been interviewed. He very much fits the profile for us. He's used to working on a low budget, he's got Championship experience, he's more or less out of work and his style of play meets Top's expectations more than Rohl. I'd be surprised if he isn't on the shortlist of the shortlist.

With all due respect, **** off. If people are just copy and pasting text out of ChatGPT (which, I admit, is an annoying trend) there'd be no way of doing this other than mods having to read every single comment and pass judgement on it. It's really, really not worth it for anyone.
-
It's a big hint for Danny Rohl...
-
"I dunno, Top, I still think they'll be disappointed with Cifuentes. Not exaclty a coup." "Don't worry, Jon, I'm going to tell Sky Sports it's Gary O'****ing Neil. By Wednesday they'll be happy with anyone."

Every time someone posts the betting odds, God weakens Fatawu's ACLs.

I wish football league world was credible

I dunno, I'd like to think we aren't actually fishing in the kind of pond where Wilder is a big fish but I don't know that he's the single worst candidate ever. Recent promotion from this division obviously isn't the worst cv ever. I'd like to say the answer to your question would be no but I can see us definitely interviewing Wilder regardless.
-
It is worth pointing out, amidst all the hysteria, that the source is "only" Rob Dorsett and all he said was that Gary O'Neil was one of the front runners, alongside Wilder. Percy said Wilder and O'Neil were on the shortlist. Wilder is out of work, has multiple EFL promotions under his belt, is fairly tactically versatile, has a significantly higher career win percentage and is a Wasserman client. The idea that it's a done deal that O'Neil is coming here is ridiculous, although I concede it's horrifying he's even a serious candidate.
-
Have you actually seen our home crowd? It'll be 90 minutes of "O'Neil's blue and white army."
-
100% guarantee O'Neil is the story we've leaked to the press so the fans are happy about Wilder, given the obvious disappointment over Rohl. I can't see on what earth we'd ever hire O'Neil.
-
Think we can all see it coming. Want Rohl, will get Wilder. Vaguely intrigued by the "two unnamed managers" but let's be honest, they'll be terrible. I don't think we'd give it to O'Neil ahead of Wilder, frankly.
