"Buy cheap, buy twice." I've not checked this so it's entirely an educated guess but I'm willing to bet we paid more paying out Ruud, Cooper and Puel's contracts than paid in compensation to Celtic for Rodgers? And I'm definitely sure we paid more paying out Rodgers than we did hiring him. It's not an intelligent business decision if it is a business decision. The bigger problem though is just a massive lack of footballing intelligence that we have as an organisation. There are individuals at LCFC that can spot talent, sure, else we wouldn't end up with Maresca, Fatawu, Hermansen, BEK, etc. But it's not really a collective intelligence. Brighton and Brentford pretty famously lead the way for sporting IQ when it comes to mid-tier clubs of our scale and they're constantly future planning. They're smart enough to know that any manager they have that does well is going to be desired by better clubs yet they're ambitious enough to target them. So they've always got their next manager lined up, Brighton have pulled off some absolute blinders recruiting internationally whilst Brentford have a strong cuture of internal development and replacement. We don't do any of that. We hire whoever Rudkin and/or Top have heard of, the former having bafflingly little broader knowledge of the wider footballing world for someone that's supposed to be a Director of Football. We cast an absurdly small net for a club that neutral fans used to think was smartly run.

I think it's fairly obvious Rohl is the main target. All signs very much point to that, it's not really much of a mystery. But he's obviously in a difficult contractual situation and we can't afford to pay his full compo. Think we'll end up with a Steve Cooper situation all over again. We're just going to hire any old idiot after spending days and weeks hanging on waiting for our first choice and giving no real thought to who the second choice will be when it doesn't come off.

Love the people over reacting to Wilder being on the list when Gary O'Neil got an interview and most aren't batting an eyelid
-
So you're saying he can spot an absolute legend?
-
This is true. Everyone gets hung up on the fee and forgets the wages which are always the biggest issue. But more simply than that, it won't be Dyche because Top will see him the same way everyone else does, as playing anti-football. It's not his vision for the club.

As a life long fan of Jim and Brian Henson, I find this extremely offensive. -
So you're saying he'll fit in well here?
-
<Alan Nixon That said, I'd be very surprised if we haven't spoken to Wilder. It's a job vacancy, you speak to a lot of people, don't you?
-
Yeah sorry I wasn't really directing all of that at you specifically.
-
Yeah but I'm a highly strung, reactionary drama queen that's angry about everything. The (fractional) majority of our fan base actually want Dyche.
-
We had this exact same conversation last time, when we were in more trouble with PSR, and then we still went and spent tens of millions to get out of the league. It's just bollocks panic nonsense to get engagement. Our wage bill and amortisation obligations are massively less than last time we were relegated. Our situation is nowhere near as severe, regardless of King Power's non football problems. We'll hire a manager in the next week or two, start buying players and everyone will calm the **** down.

I'd expect Nelson, of all of them, to have the most impact on the first team, yeah. -

There's a legitimate question about whether or not they're better being squad players here or starting players on loan in League One, though, tbf. -
There's way too much pressure on going back up. If they were committing to consolidate at this level then they might do that but I doubt that's the case. He won't (and shouldn't) get the job.

In before Sean Dyche ships him back to the youth team and we never see him again until he's released on a free and signs for Boston United. -

BDCR, Ayew and Daka all missing? -
What the actual ****. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see him finally charged. But that just looks openly corrupt, it happens days after his contract expires and he leaves?
-
Percy said that his sources have ruled out Dyche and that Rohl is expected to be a target. Can't remember if he said favourite or not.
