Notts County 1-1 LCFC - Post Match Thread
Sunbury Fox replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
The more I reflect on the game the more I'm p1ssed off about it. I really wanted to be more positive this season but after the games against Northampton and today I'm growing increasingly concerned that this is going to be another depressing and difficult season. Defensively, we are quite simply a joke. McCarthy is past it and neither a good shot stopper nor good on the ball. The CBs are totally unsuited to building from the back, whilst it appears that we are still waiting to find a level where Thomas looks good. We desperately need McFarlane to be good and to sign at least 2 CBs who can pass the ball, if we're going to play Russball. In CM we look lightweight and unable to keep possession for sustained periods. Cullen was genuinely terrible today, whilst Skipp is limited on the ball and lacking physicality. I like Braybrooke a lot but we just weren't able to get him on the ball enough today. Alves and Watson both did well but Burns offered little on the other side. At least Howell looked promising, though. Reid is not and never will be a lone striker. Unless we sign another striker, if Bristric fails I don't see where the goals are coming from. Early days, of course, but we look way off a promotion chasing team at the moment. So much work to do and only a couple of weeks to get it done. Worrying times. -
Was just what I expected. He never looked any good at Southampton, even when he was much younger. Makes Jakub look like Raya on the ball.

I'm actually even more embarrassed to be a Leicester City fan after today. Shameful to be honest - both the result and performance. All of their chances came from the fact that our keeper and 3 of our 4 defenders are totally crap on the ball. We need to address that quickly or we're going nowhere this season. We also better hope that Bristic is good as the other striker options are really poor even at this terrible level. Thomas must surely be dropped after that horror show. Of the few positives, Alves, Joseph and Braybrooke did well. -
Surely that is his last game for us.

So long as Mavididi and Reid don't start I can live with any selection. -

Win for Warwickshire. Real chance of a home semi now. -

Think this is lost. Just need to ensure we protect the run rate as much as possible. -

Needed early wickets to have a chance of defending this total. All about limiting damage to the NRR from here. -

Isn't this normally a really high scoring ground, though? -

Looking like we'll be relying on other results to qualify for the knockout stage. -
Totally infective again yesterday. Just wants the ball to feet facing away from goal, after which he tries a trick and loses it, or lays it off backwards. Never makes a forward run off the ball.

Gone with a very spin heavy selection today. Is it a Bunsen burner at Beckenham? -
Do others think that, whilst Joseph is fine and far from being a problem, Aluko looks the better player, especially on the ball?

Horrific.

Wasn't able to watch the game but it was pretty exciting just following the score on my phone. Great win again. -
Even in that season he only got 6 goals and 4 assists in a team that got 95 points.

This is BDCR Mark 2. Loved at his former club as an honest if limited trier. Tick. Way past his best (which was not great anyway). Tick. Given 3 year contract to convince him to join, by the end of which we'll be desperate for him to leave. Tick. Offering 3 year contracts to players over 30 with a recent bad injury is frankly horrific business. It's why he's coming to us in L1 rather than joining some no mark bottom half Championship club. We will never learn.

Still finding it hard to reconcile that we're now reduced to making signings like this.

Would have been worse if we'd drawn F**est U21s.

As it stands, we are top with the best NRR in the group. Lancs and Notts who are 2nd and 3rd respectively could both lose, all being well. -

Patel and now Cox yet again proving their worth over the last few days; losing both of them at the end of the season is a disaster. -
Yeah, I'm done with him now. Lackadaisical and disinterested is not what we need in this crucial season.
