Is it in the clubs interest to leak that they anticipate a substantial points deduction, only for it to be considered not substantial when it is dished out? Perhaps they are trying to spin and manage expectations where they come out as best they can? It sort of also resembles how this was managed the last time this was hanging over us when we’re in the PL and Di Marco stamped it out, but clearly the uncertainty is also impacting on how much of an attractive proposition we are. I take that we’ve signed 3 players - albeit on loan - as a positive. We’ve taken a hacksaw to the wage bill, generated income and have been able (you assume) to spend within agreed parameters. We are all being told to look in one direction (substantial) and I wonder whether it won’t be substantial or even whether there won’t be one at all based on the fundamentals of the PL‘s case.

This squad is so unbalanced and weak in key areas, and Ayew is a great example of that. Today was a disgrace. Every time he gets the ball he either holds on too long or goes to ground. Laughably bad player, and recruited to compete in the league above 🤣 and we actually paid money for him as well. What the likes of Jake Evan’s have to do to get a game is beyond me. We literally don’t have a first team striker (Daka doesn’t count because he’s not a footballer) and we have promising one out on loan. Make it make sense.

He had a run last season where everyone was lauding him as being like a new signing. So that’s a good 6-7 games. Then you can add Ipswich away, Moscow… and a handful of others. I’m not defending him, he’s been awful on the whole - but I think you’re wrong.

When you’ve been paid shit loads here, reached your earnings ceiling and become a wealthy man who will never need to work again - why would you give a shit? And that’s what we’ve seen. The only way around that is to recruit good characters, people who have a burning desire to improve and improve. But we don’t really seem to have done that since the Pearson days with a few exceptions.

Daka and Ayew are hardly lighting up the league, but they’re our only first team strikers and both leaving in June. We’ve terminated the loan of another one who was crap. So we’re relying on 2 players who know they won’t be here next season to score goals, and who are crap. Again, what competent DoF in charge of overseeing squad building lets it get to that position? But of course we are limited by the PSR position that has been imposed upon us, and something we’ve had no control over 🤣
