I’m curious about Wellens. Always liked him as a player. Perhaps bring in Big Nige to sort Rudkin out as well.
-
Can the regime afford to sack him? I’m not so sure. But I appreciate they may take the view that it is a gamble worth taking if it papers over Rudkin’s gaping crack. I think a Dyche like figure has the best chance of shithousing some points from the tough run of fixtures we have in the next 5-6, and then we’ll need a clean sweep of beating those around us in the final 5 games.

This idea btw that he’s being scapegoated is nonsense. I don’t blame him for the situation. He could be probably be ok in a better side. The problem is that is an example of the drop off in recruitment. He’s so poor, unbelievably one dimensional and yes he tries hard, but… compare him to a Castagne for example as a player in a similar position. Last night one thing he’s usually good at - tackling and one on one duels he was pretty weak at. To some extent those accusing others of scapegoating him just goes to show how far we’ve fallen. I’m not saying you’re defending him, but honestly what is there to defend about him?
-
Not really. He’s one of our many examples of poor recruitment
-
Fixed it for you! He’s Alan Rogers with a blonde wig on
-
He’s misleading. People highlight his effort and work rate as a strength. Granted he runs around a lot and looks committed. Some of his weak tackles today led to a goal being conceded. So yes I am calling him out! And yes, everyone was shit as well.
-
He’s been poor lately. But who hasn’t to be fair
-
Giving it to Kingy just sounds like sentiment, and I don’t believe in sentiment in football. Particularly when he has literally no experience. However, we probably need to roll the dice and make a change in the hope it can paper over Rudkin’s crack.
-
He was shit. Just because the new guy hasn’t worked out as we’d have hoped doesn’t mean he was any good.

West Ham 2-0 KPFC - Post Match Apathy

He has to start now with the subs that came on because at least we were semi competitive with them on. Winks has some sort of leadership qualities in the middle and when he’s in the game we can have some control. But **** me it’s really bleak. -
Some of his tackles today were wet lettuce of the highest order - weak, weak, weak. I’d give him that he runs around, but he’s utter garbage. How did he ever make it pro?

What is this ‘goal’ that you talk of?

Or Buanonotte - on this performance you can see why Ruud doesn’t fancy him -

Nothing says pathetic when you finally get up the pitch, get a corner and it doesn’t beat the first man -

We should all hold a massive banner up at the next game that says “this IS NOT a training game” -

We need to try something different. A new shape. Two up front. Do something other than go down with a whimper. Like when Pearson changed it up and we went on the great escape. But I suppose that side had some character and fight about it. -

Just going through the motions. No fight. Very passive. What’s the point anymore? -

Hijacking this to ask if anyone can post a link to The Overlap where Jordan talked about us a few weeks ago? Also great pod as usual gents! I honestly think I would have gone mad 2 years ago and this season had you guys not existed 🙏 -
Says it really about the drop off in decision making, quality and ability to move players on at the right time to support squad building
-
I want to bump this thread, because finally national press has cottoned on. Though for Tanner and his connections and brief to report on the club I’m amazed it’s taken him this long to call it all out…

You could have been talking about us not so long ago

Villa need to be careful because I can’t see how they can sustain their current squad outgoings if they don’t have income from European football. They’re currently 10th. An all to well familiar gamble of a mid table side. They’re on a slippery slope - and we know how hard it is to sustain. You cannot afford for recruitment to not pay dividends on the pitch.

Ayew, Cordova-Reid, Buonanotte, Mavididi, McAteer ?

To be fair to RvN he’s inherited poor players in these areas. -
He always used to talk about doing due diligence on the character of signings. I can’t help but feel that we’ve not done that for a while as we’ve got a squad full of spineless arse faced weasel’s (with the exception of one or two). Would love it if he came back in any capacity.
