  1. Glad the speculation with this one is done. Clearly has raw talent but there are so many question marks about whether he can perform consistently at even Championship level at the moment.
  2. That's a really good point. He was a big disadvantage last season with the injury and Vesty took his chance. This season it's Coady's turn to stake a claim. I still think he'll be superb in the middle of a three. With Faes on the right and Okoli on the left that could be a decent, solid back three with decent passers in the wider positions.
  3. Sounds like we're close then! Hopefully we get this over the line. I knew nothing about him a couple of weeks ago, now I can't wait to see what he can do for us
  4. One of the great things about football is that it's full of completely different types of player, different characters, different styles of play. I'll hold my hands up in thinking that it was quite clear he didn't suit the Enzo Maresca style of play. But what McAteer was great at was carrying the ball AFTER breaking the line (rather than dribbling at players and taking them on) and arriving in the right place at the right time. Positioning and taking opportunities when they present themselves will be of paramount importance this season. I think he has a place here this season. He only needs to look at his new team-mate Bobby De Cordova-Reid or someone like Michail Antonio as inspiration. Both have their flaws but have carved our pretty good careers for themselves within the right systems. McAteer clearly has talent. And we were unfortunate not to see him at his best for a whole season in the last campaign. By the time he came back in we were 'more Enzo' and I don't think it really suited him. Hopefully Cooper will be able to get the best out of him this season.
  5. In England terms it sounds like he's a bit like Saka, a bit like Foden and a bit like Palmer.
  6. Sammy Braybrooke loading...
  7. I like all the training clobber I've seen so far tbh
  8. Also the £30m received goes onto a single year's accounting period. However, purchases are spread out over the course of the player's contract (up to 5 years) in the accounts. So, potentially, if we did something daft like buy a player for £50m then KDH's sale is £30m received in 2023/24 (because of when he was sold) and the £50m player potentially costs us £10m minimum in 2024/25. So it's feasible providing other outgoings mean we don't breach PSR.
  9. With Thiago Motta being Kristiansen's manager at Bologna last season, it's worth a try. I guess it depends on whether Juve's recruitment team deem a LB/LWB a priority position or not
  10. If the finances work out, I don't see why he wouldn't want to come here. Forest attracted some decent individuals after promotion and, after all, we're a Premier League club. Just look at Ross Barkley. All he had to do was look good in a team that, while giving it a go, would've been cast firmly adrift if not for points deductions. Now he's at a Champions League club. If O'Riley can be good for us, no matter how well the team does overall, he'll have a lot of suitors whether we stay up or not.
  11. I'm really torn on this. Vardy turns 38 this season. I know he's incredible still but this could be the season his legs go. On the other hand, Vardy could still be our main man. And if we bring in someone else then Cannon has another season playing a bit part. Cannon needs games, so as long as we have options I'm happy for him to go out on loan. But if we don't, we need an instant recall option, which I guess few clubs would agree to.
  12. Regardless of whether we think Rudkin has done a good job or not, he shouldn't be Director of Football AND running anything else for KP. DoF for a Premier League club isn't a part-time job, I don't care how many hours he works Just jobs for the boys bullsh!t. If he wants to jolly along with the owners, get him out of the club and doing whatever else he wants for KP and then get a serious Director of Football in. And while they're at it, do the same for Leuven. Unreal.
  13. We always seem to get decent adidas training/casual clobber. I quite like the shirt he's wearing in these videos. I also wouldn't mind seeing just the fox's head on the away/third shirt for something different. I've no idea why the club bother with the in-house monstrosities they keep churning out.
  14. Be nice to see what all three can do from the start in an early League Cup game.
  15. I still think Jaden Philogene would be a good target. Depends how firmly Hull would hold out of course.
  16. If he comes here and becomes a hero then absolutely fair play to him
  17. Imagine coming into training at Seagrave as some oiky little boblet all full of himself then being met by King Shithouse Jamie Vardy. Gonna be a huge wake-up call for the lad.
  18. How we've got to a point where kids' kits aren't allowed to have the sponsor on I'll never know. I know some will shoot me down for being naïve or point out that gambling, etc. is legal in this country. But this is supposed to be everyone's game. To those of us who don't like gambling, crypto, or even outwardly suspect this is a money laundering operation, it may seem preferable not to have the sponsor on the front. But I remember being a kid. If something wasn't right about the kit then it ruins it. It doesn't even matter what the sponsor is, what matters is you're wearing the kit the players wear. Every time you pull on the shirt, you're living out a fantasy that one day you'll play for this team in front of tens of thousands, scoring the goal that wins the league, FA Cup or Champions League. That's how they rip us off with prices but it's also how a deal like this, resulting in kids not being able to wear the same shirt as their heroes, really fvcking stinks. Nice shirt, by the way. Horrible sponsor.
  19. Versatile, works hard, has played for a progressive manager in Marco Silva and occasionally pops up with good goals in some of their bigger games. His professionalism will push our younger players and we need competition for places in wide/forward areas. If he starts every game it's because he's in great form. I think he'll be a good option in the more attritional games, as well as a good quality sub when Fatawu is tiring or not having an impact. Not the sexiest signing but a good, solid pro at this level.
  20. They have a UK site which is just another online bookies and casino and apparently you can bet in local currency. Not trying to endorse them but if you think they're trying to obfuscate what they actually are, their UK site shows they're just another faceless, barely known online bookies. It's quite a shame really. I hoped the club would be better than this.
  21. In fairness, Everton have had to sell Dobbin and they've bought Iroegbunam from Villa, Newcastle have had to sell Anderson to Forest and Chelsea have sold Hall to the Magpies (already agreed previously but still). PSR is affecting loads of clubs where selling academy prospects is now no longer one of the best ways of bringing in profit but now a necessity to avoid points deductions. Your point about the incompetence of the board is still right, of course, but even if and when things become OK again financially, we're probably going to see more and more of this kind of thing, not just here but at a lot of other clubs too - unless the rules change again to incentivise clubs to bring through their own and keep them.
  22. Looks like he could rival Mavididi for close control and acceleration. And we do need proper competition for places out on the wings.
  23. I love seeing little training videos like this. Makes me realise I was never ever cut out to be a professional footballer
  24. Aside from the usual suspects of Alves, Braybrooke, Popov, Richards and Thomas, one player I'll be interested in following the progress of this season is Mirsad Ali. He seems to have been getting game time at U21 level ahead of time and I wonder if a first-team call-up is on the cards for him this season, especially with LB potentially being a problem position for us this season. I believe he can also play further forward too. Will be interesting to see if he can break through from the U18s/U21s or if he gets a loan this season.
  25. Hopefully we get this guy in and he helps us give Spurs a Bruges-ing on the opening day
