The thing about xG is creating chances can go up and down as easily as finishing them. The assumption always seems to be creating chances will remain constant.

Indeed they have but the brinkmanship that transfer windows encourage always makes the first 3 weeks of January a bit pointless.

The reality is the nothing ever happens for the first 3 weeks when the window opens, everyone just stares out of it. Add to that who might we get? Good players at other prem clubs or top European leagues wont come, why would they? Decent players at clubs going for promotion won't be sold so the best we can hope for is mid-table Championship or untested foreign players.
