I've not been impressed with Ipswich's signings at all, smacks of an outfit not quite used to being in possession of a decent amount of funds.

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)

I think they'd be the sort of club that would agree to a big sell on % if we compromised on the fee down to £25m + add ons. -

None of our academy players progressing through right now are first choice. As it stands, the 1st team players we have sold have just been replaced in the XI by previous squad players. Monga and Page started because they are back up to Mavididi and El Khannouss who weren't available. Stolarczyk has replaced Hermansen Hamza replaced Justin Okoli replaced Coady Skipp replaced Ndidi McAteer wasn't 1st choice anyway -
Admirable record last season but given the disaster of Bobby Reid who has an excellent record at this level, i'd rather we didn't.

Their transfer record is about £24m -
Monga can play wide right to be fair, equally as comfortable cutting in off his left foot.

Well baring in mind an additional £5m over 5 years is the equivalent of raising £1m in additional profit this year, I think our strategy is fundamentally flawed then. That said, why we aren't scouting like Millwall and Norwich etc who identify the likes of Ivanovic from their native country for modest fees is the biggest question mark. We've forgot how to scout clever.

85 fcukin million for him? My head has fell off and been replaced by a dung beetles. Astonishing.

What planet are we on? Got £12-15m for McAteer but think a striker with his record at his age is worth less than £10m 😂

Probably be the same for one or two more. Every week we're not told of certain players availability. They can't all get injured within 24 hours of the presser. -

Remember Cover playing like prime Wesley Fofana in that cup game vs Birmingham and Enzo subbed him at half time. -
Cifuentes gives very little away but I think the one position we are looking mostly at is a new striker. Doesn't mean it happens though ay

Rightly so, but worth pointing out that all we have done so far is sell 1st team players and replace them with squad players as he hasn't really promoted any academy players in to those positions. -
I've heard that training attendance has been interesting in recent weeks.

That's because fbref will only have the European games he played last season which was about 4.
-
He's a support striker by the way, very much a link man than a number 9. I'd put him as more of a Ayoze Perez type player if I were to liken him to a previous player but with different strengths and weaknesses.
-
Contract up next summer so likely be even cheaper than usual. Sturm Graz have had a very prolific period of producing strikers that go on to excel in other European leagues.
-
The money Southampton have brought in this summer is eye watering.
-
That's iffy, is it because the league he's in is not compiled and this is a small sample size in Europe last season?
-
Good player, quite small though

Spent a bit more time researching him. At Pau in 2023/24 he played predominantly as a wide forward and the clips of that season stack up. Whilst he's not a winger in the mould of Fatawu, Monga or Mavididi he showed a bit more composure to get on the ball and either progress it or get crosses and through balls in than say McAteer or when we've seen Daka play there. At Schalke last season he was pretty much always played centrally and had a strong season. His last two years have been in the 2nd divisions in France and Germany, probably a bit of a drop off to the Championship but not by much. Averaging 16 goals a season from 35 games is decent. His stats look very ordinary on stuff like progressive runs, pressures at Schalke but having watched the videos it's not glaringly obvious that he's weak at that. You'd still hope for our next striker purchase to be more obviously well rounded as a modern forward though.

Omega Masters this week at one of my favourite courses in Europe, Crans-sur-Sierre.

Two strikers to keep an eye on: August Priske Tobias Bech
