  1. If you give me a golf club and a 150 yard par 3 I'll hole in one it eventually, doesn't make me Tiger Woods. Unless he's done it several times then I'm not having that is in his repertoire. Now name his second best pass in a Leicester shirt.
  2. VFM he was a terrible buy. In retrospect he was a terrible buy. If he had come up through the ranks or came here for a smallish fee then he would have been fine but he is judged on expectation according to his transfer fee. Maguire gets a lot of shit at Man Utd not because he is terrible but because of his £80m transfer fee, they thought they were buying the new Rio Ferdinand but instead they got a decent PL centre back. If Maguire cost £20m then he wouldn't get all this crap.
  3. Tete on loan wasn't bad, we probably would have happily bought him but we didn't. He was crap and we got rid of him and all it costs us was his wages, that's okay business, we should have done the same with Ghezzal.
  4. That speaks volumes to me. I care about transfer fees and value for money because without it we'll end up in the Championship. That's a quote from me on this forum about 3-4 years ago.
  5. And the bloke who cost us a Champions League spot for missing an extra time sitter versus Chelsea. If getting a deflection off a body part is seen as his finest moment then that speaks volumes.
  6. Perez was a terrible buy. Never improved us and was the worst player in the first XI. Then he became a squad player. The we couldn't sell him. Then he left for a free. In what way can anyone describe Perez as a "decent buy"?
  7. When you buy crap without doing your due diligence then you get hit several times. You get hit with the fee You can't get rid because the teams that would have them can't afford them They invariably move on a free It's why I didn't mind the Soumare signing because he underperformed but we were still offered 80% of what we paid for him last season if not this. What I don't like is signing players that we're the only club in the world who would want and pay that for the player. This club is a joke.
  8. Too many "give him a chance" types in our fanbase. I've seen these signings too many times, poorly rated by the fans of the club that see him play and we cling on to the hope that it will be different here. Ward, Ghezzal, Vestergaard, etc. When was the last time we were really happy to get someone out the door for a good fee, Musa? This club never learns, sounds like more deadwood to re[lace the deadwood who just left.
  9. I think the club is willing for anyone to go but the onus is on the player who wants to leave to find a club. As far as I know we haven't refused any offers for Castagne, Praet, Vestergaard, etc let alone reasonable offers. Get yourself a club that will pay a fair transfer fee and stop your whining. Everyone wants to go to a club in a higher league but no one is offering any money for you wasters.
  10. An "option to buy" profile would be the player's club who want to get rid of him but can't get a buyer so it's an extra incentive for the buyer. What the loaning club want is the chance for the player to excel and still get him for an agreed fixed price. I never understood why we paid good money for Ghezzal who had been excellent for half a season in his career and flopped pretty much the rest of it. Loaning him with an option to buy would have been ideal because we could have either sent him on his way or purchased him for an agreed price if he tore up the league. Ghezzal was not wanted by Monaco and had no other suitors so this should have been an easy one but the ever obliging Leicester City.......................... Tielemans would have been an ideal option to buy, this never happened because Tielemans didn't want to do it I believe but if we had he could have been brilliant here which he was and not lost him to a bigger club which could have happened, also the option to buy price would have been less than what we eventually paid.
  11. That's what I thought. Just poor English I suspect.
  12. Sometimes we had Maddison and Barnes as the wide players in a three today we had Albrighton and McAteer.
  13. Never like him as a signing from the off, he's always been a bits and pieces player which I hate. I like my midfielders to either be destructive, creators or goal scorers and he is none of those. Signed for €20m as a 25yo as well and I hate those type of signings, expensive and not good enough or intended for the first XI and at an age when he has little room for improvement. We needed a back up No8 to Maddison and Tielemans at the time and I wanted to see a highly rated 19-21yo with big potential not proven mediocrity for a club challenging for Europe. Signings like Praet are why we're in the Championship, spending big money on mid 20's players who aren't good enough for the first XI.
  14. So do I but to my knowledge we haven't rejected an offer for Castange, you can't sell someone unless there is a buyer putting down the cash. Also any offer should be eight figures or he stays, he's a 27yo Belgium international with 33 caps. No one is saying he can't leave but the offer has to be reasonable.
  15. Let me live in it a year for free, we'll pay half the bills each and this time next year I'll defo want to buy it, pinky promise.
  16. It makes you wonder how on earth we ever targeted Ward to buy at £12.5m. I'd bet money that the Liverpool board high fived each other when that deal went through. There was literally no evidence I could point to that had an upside, as far as I was concerned there was nothing to suggest he was anything more than an average Championship GK at best. We actually spent a world record fee on a GK that was preordained in to play as No2. I actually was still fuming at the signing and if you flick through this short thread I got everything bang on against a few "wait and see" happy clappers.
  17. I remember it well as I was the biggest critic of his signing but too many had judged him on his great displays in the play offs. He actually conceded nine more goals than expectation that season with Huddersfield. Just had a look on the Chris Mepham thread for the graph I posted back in the day.
  18. Let's not pretend Danny Ward is no better than you or I, he's still had nearly 130 games at international, SPL, PL and Championship level. I don't rate him at all but to say he's not capable of being a Championship No2 GK is absurd, what other Championship clubs have a GK No2 clearly with a better pedigree as Ward? He's not my ideal No2 by a long chalk but if it came to having Ward as No2 or spending £2-3m on a No2 I'll keep my money and Ward. He did play for Huddersfield in the Championship as a No1 and helped get them promoted.
  19. What do you suggest we do, spend good money on a new No2? Ward will probably be behind Iversen anyway but if we can sell Iversen we may as well utilise Ward as a reasonable No2 for a Championship club. Stolarczyk seems to be one of those that people overrate him because they haven't seen him play and he would be much better off on loan than staying here not getting games. What do people want us to do with Ward, we probably won't get a buyer so we're stuck with him?
  20. Who do you suggest, Stolarczyk who couldn't get a game for Fleetwood last season? What level do you think Danny Ward is if he's not good enough to be a No2 for a Championship team?
  21. I'm not glossing over anything, just pointing out the fact he's been released by Chelsea which will be because they don't think he is good enough to eventually play for them or command a transfer fee. Unlikely that a player of that profile comes here as a first team player.
  22. No, sold for £18m to Wolfsburg.
  23. If you look at the Ward transfer thread I was the harshest critic of us signing him but Ward as a No2 in the Championship is absolutely fine especially if we can't sell him and can give Stolarczyk the opportunity to go out on loan. Stolarczyk has only 28 professional games under his belt and was at a relegated 4th tier club last season.
  24. Izzet was a £800k sale not a release, Kane was released by Arsenal at 9yo and Rice by Chelsea at 14yo. Both obviously not quite excelling in their age group at the clubs and a decision was made to let them go. Chelsea also don't release 19yo players who are good enough for the Championship favourites. That's no judgement on Silko Thomas's potential but clearly Chelsea don't think he will make the grade otherwise they'd be looking to keep either for themselves or a future sale. I'm almost certain this will be an U23 signing.
  25. Easiest way is to check followers, if they have less than my 124 then they're a nobody.
