U23's surely? If he was good enough for our first XI he wouldn't be released from Chelsea at 19.
-
There is truth in that, we've probably signed him to make the U23's more competitive with no realistic hope that he will ever make the first team or be sold on for a fee.
-
I agree that everyone is for sale at the club at the right price. The article mentions a loan, not a loan with an obligation to buy which is a sale. We're not loaning out players who walk into the first team without an obligation to buy or a considerable loan fee. If Nice want Ricardo on loan they have to commit to an obligation or a big loan fee. Any deal has to be worth Leicester's while otherwise it's a non starter even if the player wants to go.
-
Just more bullshit from some kid in his bedroom. What is in it for us? Why would we loan a first team player? Loans are far young kids who aren't up to scratch just yet and players who are surplus that you can't get a buyer for. Clubs don't loan players who walk into the first team.

Signing Mahrez would not have been possible post Brexit

Both to blame and the current government birthed Brexit. -
Signing Mahrez would not have been possible post Brexit

Brexit has cost business £100b per year in revenue, £40b a year in tax revenue and devalued Sterling. If you have a different perspective and think Brexit is tangibly better for the UK then yes you're either a liar or an idiot. -

Sterling lost 15% the day after the vote and never recovered, we're big importers and instantly made everyone poorer. In 2007 we were as wealthy per capita as the Americans, in 2023 we were overtaken by Lithuania. -
26 in December, people never really grasp that buying a player of that age is highly likely that is his peak value. A five year deal will see him the wrong side of 30 when it expires. I seen a list when we sold Mahrez of how many players went for £60m+ at age 26 or more, there was hardly any but people still moaned at the Mahrez fee.
-
According to whoscored he played 32 games at left back and 13 games as defensive midfielder left last season. Seems a strange signing considering we have Thomas, JJ, Kristiansen and maybe even Castagne who can play there next season. Any reason why we're targeting him for a position that he doesn't appear to be a massive upgrade on what we have and a position we're well stocked in.
-
I love Barnes, unplayable on his day but I'm happy to get rid of all the Rodgers era players and start again under Maresca.
-
28 in December and he's been here three years, his value will be no higher than it is today. He's performed about par on expectation and price so £12m would be an okay return IMO especially as our MO appears to be letting players run their contracts out on recent evidence.

Someone in their bedroom at their Mum's house pretending to be ITK, waste of time unless they prove themselves consistently. I could make up a few educated guesses and get a few right, I only take note of proper journalists.

One of the reasons I liked the profile of the Soumare signing was he was 22 and had just played as a regular for a side that had beat PSG to the title. Even when these signings somewhat fail these players still have decent reputations and you can get a good percentage of your money back. Monaco bid €15m for him last year and I'd expect we would get a similar fee from Napoli. Rudi Garcia was manager of Lyon when Lille won the title so I imagine he quite rated him and judges him for his performance for Lille rather than Leicester. These profile signings are much better than signing mid to late 20's players who are nothing special but adequate like Vestergaard, Praet, Ghezzal, Ward, etc.
-
Danny Ward would be fine as a No2. we are after all a Championship club.
-
Well we could just as easily get promoted without Iheanacho and just as easily not get promoted with him. There are no guarantees. Would anyone be surprised to see Iheanacho behind Vardy and Daka as our lone striker? Why turn down a good fee for Iheanacho if he's just going to be on the bench which he probably will be?
-
Just googled him, just signed for a second division Spanish club, looks likely to have a pretty nondescript career. He does him in the tackle as well, 100% went to nail him.
-
Can't imagine there is many add ons at all if we received £70m for him. His career is possibly done now, signed a 7 year deal on no doubt huge money and will probably never be the same player after one big injury after another and he's priced out of a move until 18 months before his 30th birthday. I was happy to see him go for the money offered as it was world class money for potential. I've always been an advocate of selling players at their peak value as long as you have an excellent recruitment team. It's the model for clubs like us.
-
It's also a good deal for us, there is every chance Iheanacho is still deemed a squad player here. Selling a squad player for £10m+ as a Championship club with one year left on his contract is great business.
-
Because business is business. No value in cutting your nose off to spite your face, selling Iheanacho to whoever is neither here nor there, this isn't Barcelona selling Messi to Real Madrid in 2010. Just do the best deal for Leicester City.
-
First proper signing to get excited about under Maresca, Winks and Coady may prove to be astute signings but what really gets the juices flowing is signing potential.
-
Which means he might not quite be ready to play as a starter in the PL if he can't make Chelsea's team now or Inter's before that. 20 isn't that young so if he was a generational talent he would probably already be on the scene. His performances in the U20 World Cup suggests he has huge potential but he has done nothing of note in the man's game so far. He may well be better off here getting plenty of minutes and the ball at Championship level for a season rather than cameos at Brighton.
-
That's like not having sex with the girl your mate really fancies that you see round the town when she comes on to you one night. Never going to happen.
-
I know he did fantastic with Reading and in the U20 World Cup but he's 20 and only played 15 matches at senior level for Reading. He's not that young and only 15 senior games suggests he may become an excellent player but he's either a late developer or not a generational talent. I'm biassed I know but I think for his development he'd be much better off here for a season rather than at Brighton in which he might become a bit part player in a very tough league. 15 games for Reading as your whole senior career suggests going to the Championship favourite who will probably have a lot of the ball is ideal for him.
-
No thread or anything online about this. Who offered and how much?
-
Always a good sign when those that watch him week in week out thinks that he is too good for us. It looks like the team is really developing to the manager's image with this guy, Coady and Doyle as ball players on the defensive line.
