Worst manager we've ever had, he was on par with Rodgers in his last 18 months here. Taylor wasn't just a bad fit but completely out of his depth. I remember that summer when the club had spent more money in that summer than it had probably spent in our history. He signed four strikers that summer in Akinbiyi, Scowcroft, Cresswell and Benjamin at a cost of about £10m. Alarm bells rang for me as he was spending good money on players that couldn't all play, all of those players weren't good enough either.

I know Everton aren't in the Championship just yet but still..............

It would suit Palace, Swansea and ourselves if we sold Iheanacho and bought Piroe in. Both players have one year left on their contract so it stops them leaving for free. Swansea have 2pts from three games so unlikely to threaten the top six on the evidence so far and I'm sure they'd love to sell Piroe before transfer deadline day and cash in whilst they can.

Reminds be a bit of Gus Poyet in stature and the way he looks to arrive late in the box to score goals.

I said when we signed Tielemans if we could sell him at 25/26 for good money it would be great business. He's been playing Belgium top league and Champions League football since he was 16, there is a lot of miles on that body. Also looking at his physique he carries a bit too much timber for someone of his age and profession. I've always thought he would plateau well before 30. Compare it to Vardy who is naturally a wiry physique , skinny but strong. Vardy not playing football really seriously until his mid 20's coupled with his natural physique and you could assume there would be plenty of miles left on that body way after 30.

What site is that from?

I'm sure we do move from our valuations because the alternative is either to have a staring contest or not sell at all. If you had to sell your house because you really wanted to move and it hadn't sold for a year and someone offer you 95% of the asking price then it's foolish to sit tight and demand 98-100%. If clubs aren't prepared to meet our asking price when these players have been for sale in a global market all summer you either accept a lower offer or keep the player.
-
They're only getting an option to buy price by giving us a loan fee otherwise there is no benefit to us. Obviously we would prefer to sell and wipe our hands of the situation but it appears we don't have that option.

I didn't know Leicester had one and if so you could well be right and all the flooring is the same which makes my post utterly useless, as you were.

Patson Daka posts a picture from the Cosy Club in Liverpool, look how the floor matches. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186337-d11813078-Reviews-Cosy_Club-Liverpool_Merseyside_England.html#photos;aggregationId=101&albumid=101&filter=7&ff=351131600

Barnes had to go, at 25 he couldn't afford to have a season in the Championship. I always recall Jack Butland who stayed at Stoke and it as good as ended his career, three months before relegation he was England's No1 and didn't get his move from Stoke. He stayed there for a couple more years and moved to be Palace No2 and is now 30 and at Rangers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Butland As for Barnes I've always likened him to Mo Salah, maybe not quite as good but a top PL player who Brendan sucked the life out of like he did most of the squad over the last two years. Two years left on his contract and we had to sell if we got a reasonable offer, I hope he smashes it at Newcastle and he is very capable of doing it, you don't often see players in the style of Barnes who is direct, very quick and can score goals.

Of course, value for money has to be taken into consideration. Harry Maguire gets a lot of unwarranted criticism on social media and that is because of his transfer fee not his ability. If he was an academy product there wouldn't be a word said about him. Danny Ward is a victim of his transfer fee, no one will criticise him as much if he cost nothing. Whoever sanctioned the transfer fee for Ward wants fooking, he was never worth that money by any stretch of the imagination at ant point. Pants well and truly taken down on that buy.

Not only did Hart get bombed out of Man City he was told he had no future there even before Pep arrived. You have to admire the ruthlessness of Pep who cut Hart loose before even seeing him in the flesh because he knew he was no good with his feet and decision made. I like that Ward and Iversen have been relegated to 3rd and 4th and presumably told to find new clubs because our manager has been similarly ruthless.
-
Nice pic but is he going to walk around there every day? This is about his career and playing football for the next nine months, the decision will be a footballing one.
-
I've always assumed the destination of a loan is more of a decision for the club than the player. A newly promoted side in Italy which will have less of the ball but a higher standard of football versus playing in England at a team expected to win the league with possession. It's a tough call that could go either way but Maresca could swing it and surely Chelsea would like the player to get used to English football? I wouldn't be surprised at either decision.

This is a good example of what not to do. The one thing I loved about the Soumare transfer is that he pretty much failed in his first season here but we were offered an out by having the option to take a small loss on him. If only on all our transfers that we had an option to get 80- 90% of your money back after a year, plenty of upside and little downside to signings. I'm all for making quick decisions on players if they're good enough or not rather than holding on to them until the whole world knows they're garbage. There are probably people thinking we should have kept Hirst after his goal this weekend but we've seen enough to assess he's not good enough.

I've no problem with Castange holding out for a few days to try and flush Juventus out as long as it is a few days. If for example Fulham have offered £12m then Juventus need to match it, not come in with £7m hoping that the player kicks up a fuss. If Juventus won't match Fulham's offer then that should speak volumes to Castange how much Juventus rate him. Bottom line is both clubs are a step up so Castange doesn't have that much leverage here to force a move for a lower price. If he kicks off too much it will be both Leicester and Castange who suffer if Fulham pull out at some point after being messed about for too much.

Bracing myself for a £2m offer.

To be honest it's unfair of me to criticise Praet as despite being a ST holder in his time here and maybe doing half a dozen away games a season the only thing I can recall about him is that pass at Brentford. Genuinely can't remember anything else from him good or bad, when he gets a game he's just there.
-
No disrespect to your no doubt illustrious school career but it's a pretty low bar from @funkyrobot to favourably compare Praet's passing ability to your own.

It's fine taking a loss on players who haven't made the grade, selling that £30m signing for £15m two years down the line. We don't do that, we'll invariably be stuck with them for another three years with £15m in wages and no transfer fee received. So it effectively costs us another £30m to have them on the bench for three years whereas West Ham in your example sell and save that £30m in wages and transfer fee.
-
I've highlighted this a few times and this isn't the real problem, the real problem is we never sell players in the £10-£20m range. These would be players who weren't first XI but in and around that. The last time we sold a player in that range was Musa and if it wasn't for his World Cup he probably leaves on a free. We actually sold Musa five years ago today. We just can't sell deadwood, even Slimani who cost £28m ends up out on loan doing quite well at Monaco but eventually going on a free. This is why one of my pet hates are people who aren't bothered by transfer fees because keep getting it wrong like we have and it eventually kills you. If you're not buying players at competitive prices that you can't shift on if it goes wrong then your toast. Too many times we can't shift players because they're overpaid and they don't want to take a cut. We had £10m offer for Vestergaard last year and he's rather kick his heels in the reserves. It's not just the transfer fee you lose but them seeing out their contract with no resale value.
