Just give it Rudkin to complete the whole experience.

Just had a look, we've won one game in 15 since he was sacked. That's Leicester City in the Championship. The club is absolutely rotten to the core.

Southampton v Leicester - FA CUP - Saturday 14th Feb 3pm
Gerard replied to beepee1984's topic in Leicester City Forum
Fun Fact - Southampton have scored the last four goals in fixtures between both clubs -
Good time to get it with us just about out the running for the play offs. Back to back relegation anyone?
-
If JJ is not contractually obligated to sign for us if we pay the fee then he'd be mental to sign up to this shitshow and basket case of a club. Far too good for us.
-
I disagree with that. For me Lookman wasn't as good as Barnes and was another expensive squad player, he looked adequate but not stand out. I wouldn't have bought him either if I was running the club.
-
Kone looked a no brainer, just turned 22 in July and had no academy background. He got to Wycombe the hard way from the depths of the lower leagues and was the League One POTY. I've always said you won't go far wrong buying the best young player from the league below like we did when we bought Maddison. Everything just screamed potential and rough diamond coupled with a low transfer fee. I'm not sure if we were ever in for him but I 'd rather take my chances on half a dozen Kone types than one Skipp who we knew wasn't good enough for Tottenham and has been in the game long enough that we knew he'd just abour reached his ceiling.

Dropped, rested, call it what you want but big performances tonight and they will keep their places.
-
Just been to this tonight and on the way out was aggressively approached by an old little skinny guy who said we were shit and had no fans. He then asked if I wanted some and if I did he would give it to me.

Burnley were impressed enough by him to pay £14m, there must have been a player there at some point. Loan with an option sounds good to me, we're never going to get a player that ticks every box and doesn't come with some sort of risk.
-
I'm still miffed we didn't get Ghezzal with an option to buy when he had no suitors but us and was languishing in Monaco reserves. As you imply though it's a risk with little downside and potential upside on players who look like a gamble.

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)
Gerard replied to lcfc_forever's topic in Transfer Talk
Just thinking that, it's an oxymoron. It's either mandatory or an option, perhaps it's just bad English from someone whose English is not a first language and it's an obligation? An obligation to buy makes far more sense than a loan with an option for a players who walks into our first XI. -

Not with an "option to buy". I hate these deals, if he excels then our ceiling is fixed and if he bombs or gets a serious injury then he's back here. All downside and no upside. -

Difference is we really didn't want or need those two to be here, BEK would still be a huge benefit to our team and promotion hopes. -

Absolutely not, if no one wants to buy you then that's not the club's fault and BEK will have to get on with it. If he is one of our best players he either gets sold or stays, no half arsed loans. If the club have not been unreasonable wit their demands then surely he understands this and gets on with it. -
Just sell, the only players I really wanted to keep outside the academy players were Fatawu and BEK. I was also happy to keep {ducks for cover} Vestergaard, Ricardo, Winks and Mavididi before this window started, the rest can go for a decent offer. We've had a good selling window getting rid of the rotten core of the club of which Soumare is one.

He'll be very much missed in this team and would have been one of the best players in the Championship, a big dent in our promotion quest if not replaced adequately which I highly suspect he won't. However if he was desperate to leave then best for all concerned. -
Weren't we interested in him two years ago under Marescu? Seemed young and highly rated at the time,

2 goals in 3 games for QPR. IMO we should either sign a Kone type profile who is young and raw with a potential high ceiling or an established striker who would be very good at Championship level. Some of these names we're linked with sound no better than Ayew or Daka and I'd prefer to leave well alone than sign a 26yo who is a one in six man in a league like the Dutch league. Not sure why we didn't sign Kone as a player who is incredibly raw and come from nowhere but young and League One POTY sounds right up our alley especially with our very talented options behind the front man if BEK stays.

Wout Faes (Besiktas interest, Fabrizio Romano)
Gerard replied to jonny_wright's topic in Transfer Talk
You are Jon Rudkin and I claim my £10. -
Can't believe he's only 32, seems to have been around for decades. Could have been a brilliant player but for injuries but so could the much younger James Justin and we seen how far he fell away from peak.

You have to ask what are we looking at another GK for? To be No1, or No2 or No3? It would seem unfair on Stolarczyk who is 24 and waited for his chance and not disappointed even though his playing out from the back skills are limited. To replace him now would end his career at Leicester as he's done well and we have bigger fires to put out than prioritising funds for a new GK. If we want a No2 or No3 then the profile for that player is just cheap and competent if called upon. A quick look through transfermarket.com free agents and this guy is the highest market value free agent, a bit of a journeyman if you look at his career path but would be okay for a Championship club No2 or No3. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yvon-mvogo/profil/spieler/147051

Look at the only signing we've made this summer, a 38yo reserve GK. The modus operandi of the club this season appears to be to cut wages as much as possible, generate as much as they can in transfer fees and hopefully scrape promotion with what is left. If we had plans to spend money on problem positions we would already have done it, I suspect any incoming transfers this summer will be reactionary when big players are sold. We have been so lazy in the transfer market for a few years and the chickens are coming home to roost. The signing of Skipp is the epitome of that, he was approaching his mid 20's and had a ceiling after over 100 games in professional football and coming through an academy. He wasn't good enough for Tottenham, he wasn't courted by other clubs but we decided to pay £20m+ on a player who was surplus and someone tell be a scenario where his value was ever going to increase with us, it could only go downwards. They must have been high fiving each other in the Tottenham boardroom after that deal, much like the Liverpool boardroom when we signed Danny Ward who was another player who if you had done your due diligence on was obvious he was overvalued. Club getting what it deserves I'm afraid with too many people coasting and hoping things will sort themselves out.

The club is absolutely cooked, on the bones of it's arse financially and outside of BEK, Fatawu and the academy lads a squad full of Championship level players who think they're better than the club because their salaries are PL level. This squad is good enough to get promotion but only if the desire is there to do it, anything under 100% effort from the group will see us fail, this group of players are not good enough to give 90% and get promoted. I can see us being in the Championship for the foreseeable future as we turn into another Stoke, QPR, Derby, etc.

Gerard replied to lcfc_forever's topic in Transfer Talk
No, it's just business. Every deal should be valued on it's merits, who can blame Palace for not wanting Edouard back? If Palace meet our valuation we probably have to sell, we no doubt need the money and having an unhappy player he probably isn't worth it. There's a good chance we'll be in this league for a good few years. We only have Fatawu and the academy lads worth having after this.
