Blackburn 1-4 Foxes - Post Match Thread
beepee1984 replied to StanSP's topic in Leicester City Forum
Probably his weakest match so far, but overall he has been brilliant all season and we survived. We have no one else in the squad I trust to play as the defensive playmaker -
According to transfermarkt he played all last season as a RW.
-
Ndidi Stats are interesting Who would have thought when we brought him that he would be in the lowest 1% of blocks in the championship and highest 1% of xG and touch's in the opposing penalty area. The problem we had with Ndidi was his passing, he is only in the bottom 15% for percentage of completed passes and the repeated use of him in the DM position where Winks is playing and trying to play possession football ith him as a defensive playmaker was the problem. He can play DM if he is playing as a ball-winning midfield, but not as a playmaker. Credit to Enzo as few predicted that he could play as an AM and he is getting into good positions and presses the opposing defences well.

They will sit in deep and play on the counter and I expect they will be hard to beat, but I expect us to find a way and open up a 7 point gap to the top. Mads Ricci Faes Coady JJ (Although wouldn't be surprised to see Hamza start ahead of Ricci or JJ just for rotation) Winks Ndidi KDH Fatawu Iheanacho (continued rotation with Vardy) Akhun (Mavividi rested) Subs Casadei for Ndidi WMM for Fatawu Mavividi for Akhun Vardy for Iheanacho Hamza (or whichever fullback is left out) for JJ (or Ricci if JJ is the sub)

2nd time - League One in 13/14 we won 5 on the bounce, so this has equalled our record. This is the 1st time from the beginning of the season.

Can't argue with the Jones red. Jota 1st yellow was never a yellow, if his knee has clipped the player it was unintentional and therefore not a cynical pro foul. However he was stupid to dive in like he did just 90 seconds later. The miscommunication was a joke. OK so they thought the on field decision was a goal, but after they informed the ref the game was getting restarted from a free kick - surely in these 35 seconds someone in VAR should have informed the ref that it was a goal. It may only be a human error, but it is a complete and absolute shambles that it should and could have been corrected, but instead they let it play out and hope the millions watching didn't notice They need to do the same as Rugby where usually the on field ref makes the decision. Have VAR clearly talking to the ref why it is replayed on the Big Screen (all PL grounds have them) and let the referee decide. You can still use the lines to prove offside.

Talking Own Goals, didn't we draw 2-2 with Aston Villa once and the same Villa player scored all 4 goals in the match
-
His ability with his feet and his shot stopping is incredible. I think he will replace Kasper as the Danish no 1 very soon and I think we may find it hard to keep him in the long term
-
I was apprehensive against 5 changes last time, but it worked and the squad look in good shape Mads Ricci (inverted, Hamza did well against Norwich, but I still have Ricci as 1st choice) Faes Vestegaard Justin (Just rotating Doyle) Winks KDH Ndidi Kasey Mavididi Vardy
-
He'll always be with our great managers and should be treated to a warm welcome today. I'm never letting go of the positive impression of Pearson and recognition of all he did for the club. Would he have won us the premier league? Probably Not Would Claudio Ranieri had kept us in the league the year before? Also probably not! Both had their part to play in making LCFC history.
-
Shocking decision by the ref. Right in front of him and clearly hits his head. Should have been away on the counter, instead gave them an opportunity to equalise
-
First season EVER I'm comfortable with our Keeper having the ball at his feet
-
Norwich take off their biggest threat this season??
-
Disagree with both. Neither impressed or disappointed yet, playing on par with the rest of the team
-
I would give Daka 45 minutes on for Iheanacho - still rotation Swap Casadei with Yunus - give him 10 mins on the right of midfield to see if he improves. If not the bring KDH/Ndidi on after 55/60 mins
-
Lacking quality in the 1st half (well the 1st 45 minutes), not far off and still winning I think 5 changes is too many and the team looks a bit disjointed Iheanacho is not having his best match and offering nothing as a striker (despite scoring a penalty) Our high press is not as good as Fridays 1st half Casadei not offering as much as I thought he would when seeing him off the bench
-
Iheanacho wants the ball for too long - pass it - keep possession
-
Vestegaard moved into the wall, has to stay 1m away 1st time I've seen a free kick given for that new rule
-
Iheanacho having a poor match so far Doyle's passing started sloppy McAteer is playing to deep And we look like a team who don't play together every week. But we will grow into the match and got great options on the bench - so optimism remains
-
McAteer playing deeper than usual? Hamza man-marking Rowe?
-
And Soumare only makes the bench for Sevilla
-
Luke Thomas is the only player in premier league history to start in a team winning after 94 minutes and still lose on 2 separate occasions.

21 seconds into the match Mavividi could have shot, but passes back to create Vardy's goal. Excellent work on the outside of the box, created enough space for a shot, but picks out Ndidi for his goal. 3 times he shot when he could have passed and he scored 1 of them. We were 2 goals up and I don't mind a forward with a bit of greed as long as he doesn't do it all the time The fact that he got in a position to have the option of pass or shoot 5 times last night is what shows his talent and although he may frustrate, he is going to excite more.
