  1. Surely that's the end of Koeman? Quite incredible how he's manager to make a team that achieved a very respectable 7th place last year to the bottom 3 despite spending so much money on new players. Sure they lost Lukaku, but the inability to lineup a replacement is amateur at best. Also despite our board sacking Shakespeare we are way better than West Ham or Everton. Those teams genuinely look like they could go down, whereas we just looked like a West Brom esque super boring, middle of the road side.
  2. It’s a race between RK and CS for next manager to go.
  3. Doesn't look good. We've been poor away to Huddersfield and Bournemouth. He could survive and even have us doing well by fundamentally changing the system. It was embarrassing to see Ihenacho and Iborra getting the ball and looking up and realising there is no one to play it to. We could try either 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 to try and get a bit more on the ball and do something with it. Fundamentally without Kante (and now Drinky) we can't play a 4-4-2 any more. The league has wised up to us. I fear he persists with the same system the results will continue to be poor and he'll be gone before the next window.
  4. IMO this is good for both Shinji and Leicester. He always comes back tired after international duty. He has been our most improved player this season and really has been in great form not only with all round play, but now getting goals too. A more confident and well rested Shinji is surely both good for Leicester and Japan given they are already through to the finals.
  5. Mahrez is definitely a confidence player. I know how frustrating he can be to watch but he was joyful to watch when he was on it and deservedly won PFA player of the year. He clearly wanted to move but didn't get the move and had to endure the embarrassment of leaving the Algerian camp on transfer deadline day for a move that was clearly a wind-up. Now I'm not apologising for him because as one of our top earners he's hardly had done by, but it's better for Leicester City as a club to have a Mahrez that is back to his best rather than one who is down in the dumps, even if he ends up leaving. But back to Demarai Gray, he is getting his new contract and hopefully he starts improving his consistency as a result. He definitely looks better and we all want it to work out for him as he could be a star here for years to come. Of course with CS under pressure he may yet revert to the same 11 as against Liverpool because we do need points.
  6. Gray should definitely start next week. He’s definitely improved recently whereas Mahrez’s form has dipped.
  7. The start of the season was always going to be tough. Next 5 games are the ones we’d expect to get points from. Judge Shakespeare then. I understand why people don’t like what they see but we’ve not been humiliated in any game and could have got points against two of last season’s top 5. We are still in the cup. Okazaki and Vardy are among the goals. We have new options at Cente back. The club messed up badly with Silva so I feel he deserves some slack. Get behind him for Bournemouth away next week.
  8. Nigel Pearson is a fantastic manager. I don't think any true Leicester fan will say anything negative about him. He was in charge of us twice, taking charge in our worst ever moment (relegation to League one) and steering us up back to the Championship. He then left after the new owners were not initially sure of him, but later reinstated him as they realized he had built the foundational success of our team. He got us promoted as champions to the top league and kept us in it despite being bottom for 2/3's of the season. In fact eve our current coach Shakespeare was appointed by him! Pearson's biggest weakness is with the media, having said some unfortunate things and the stress of our first premier league season clearly got to him. However, he was brilliant for our club. He didn't just coach the team and improve them, he literally turned the club around. Our Sports Science team is truly world class, it's why compared to many clubs our injury record is pretty good. He helped empower the scouting team which has unearthed incredible talents for very little money paid and setup a player-first empowerment culture. One of the reasons we won the title is that the players can largely manage themselves and have a very strong character and dressing room. It seems the KP group are serious about making Leuven a long term success and want to setup for that. It says a lot that despite huge issues around the dismissal of his son, they gave him the job. Our owners are really smart people and have a track record of getting big decisions right. I'd be pretty excited if I were you!
  9. What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???? Wow, didn't see that happening! I think this shows that despite everything, the King Power group realise it was NP that built the modern LCFC. IE the coaches, the scouting, the sports psychologists, etc. Honestly if I was a Leuven fan I'd be very happy. You won't just get short term success, you will have an infrastructure built that allows you to be successful for years. Just don't bury your head in the ground !
  10. Do you think he's improving? Personally I think he's improved quite a lot this season. He was great against Sheffield United in the last round and was IMO one of the better players for us last night. Totally agree about the frustration in watching him, but he will need experience and a run in the first team to get that along with good coaching. Last night he was good defensively and always looked a threat on the counter. If he can turn that raw talent of pace and skill on the break away into finishes and better delivery he will be awesome. His cross at the end for Slimani was pretty good and you could see Slimani frustrated with himself! He probably wasn't expecting Gray to cross it but he could have got something on it if he went for it. His strike at goal in the first half was poor, but he made the opportunity all by himself. I think we will see another season of inconsistent performances from him and Chilwell, but that both will improve. And hopefully at some point they get into the first team and stay there because they are good enough.
  11. Loved his smile and reaction for both his goal and winning man of the match, what a legend ! Shinji always sets a great example. He's a limited footballer but his attitude and application is first class and is a selfless player. He's already scored 3 goals this season too, and looks more threatening offensively.
  12. Poor team selection. No changes at half time. Questionable tactics on the whole. Definitely a lot to be worried about. On the plus side Vardy and Slimani are among the goals. Maguire and now Dragovic give us genuine quality and depth at centre back. Lets see where he goes from here. He complained about luck going against us but he should buy a scratch card because we mugged Liverpool tonight. But all managers need some luck at some point and if he learns from his lessons we could push on. I'm not convinced but I'm not anti-Shakespeare, but we must do better. Midfield remains my big concern. Gutted to have the Silva situation hanging over us but we keep persevering with two in the middle and getting outrun. Same as last year. Iborra was terrible and James is injured so what do we do for Saturday? I guess King comes in...
  13. Regarding the Ronaldo comparison, when Ronaldo first arrived in the Premier League his decision making was awful. He kept running past players and beating them but had no end product or ability to deliver into the box. He also got pushed off the ball too easily and dived like there was no tomorrow. Still it was obvious he had a lot of talent and potential. It's credit to Ferguson and the Manchester United coaching staff that they toughened him up and in his second season he started showing far better crossing and making an impact on the team. Still it took a few more seasons before he turned into an absolute beast including the year he won the golden boot., and this is Cristiano Ronaldo we are talking about - a player who when he is done may be in contention for the best player of all time. I doubt Demari Gray will be on that level, but if could improve that decision making and stop being such a whiner he could go places quickly. At his best, he really does look good. Of course the biggest difference between the top players is their decision making. The best always seem like they have ages on the ball and more often than not make the right decision. Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg used to score 10-20 goals per season from the wing and I think Gray could eventually do that (though possibly not for us the way we play at the moment). The same could largely be said of Mahrez too - how often does he try to dribble at someone and lose the ball and concede possession? Too often, but when he does it right he looks like a world beater.
  14. Exactly!!! Many people say that the top teams upper management feel embarrassed at what we achieved, hence the dramatic increase in spending from all of the top teams. They were already spending way too much but we pushed them into overdrive. Despite that I think that one day we will see another surprise champion but I don't think it will come close to the Leicester City story. Not only to win but to literally be bottom of the table one season and win it the next... it just makes you tear up inside! What a day that game versus Everton was ! It seems that about once every 25 years an unlikely champion occurs. Verona in Serie A, Montpellier in Ligue 1, Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. So despite all the money in the game I think it can happen again, it's just not going to be as fairy tale-esque.
  15. Yep exactly. This is the run we should pick up points in. Of course this was a similar story last year and it didn't end well. Time will tell!
  16. Interesting reading the Everton forums. Despite their massive outlay and a start roughly as hard as ours their fans are not happy. They see Gylfi as a huge failure already and feel they have gone backwards. I think it's a good example when thinking about Leicester. Some want a bigger name manager and to splash the cash but it's no guarantee for success. Time will tell for us but I feel we are better than they are right now.
  17. Good on the lad!
  18. I don't understand why people want him to fail! He's been part of the club for years and part of our greatest ever achievements. He earned the right to be made boss full time and we need to get behind him. Our opening fixtures have been the hardest of any team in the league and whilst we've only got 3 points, we've done OK and are unlucky to not have at least 1 more point on the board. Shakespeare has also been well and truly hamstrung by the club selling one of our best midfielders and replacing him with an "I owe you Adrien Silva" note that we can cash in come January. It may later transpire that he's not up to the job, but equally he might smash it out of the park. We've got a great squad so get behind him and the lads. I think once we've played 10 games we can make a better assessment of how we'll do this year.
  19. Don't forget Atletico Madrid! We should be demolishing those pesky foreign sides.
  20. Sacking Frank De Boer (4 league titles, played for some of the best clubs in the world) and replacing him with Roy Hodgson!!!! Deary me, what is the world coming to!!!?! FdB tried to change too much, too quickly by going to a 3-4-3 straight away, but I suspect he fell out with Parish too. I'd hate to be a Palace supporter right now, the only way to be more depressed after the worst ever start to a season is to wake up and find out that Woy is in charge...
  21. How can you not love him? He was quite literally there when we were sh*t.
  22. I was thinking about this after last night's game and so far I think Shakespeare is doing a great job. Sure our opposition was "only" Sheffield United, but we scored 4 goals against them and looked class in the second half. It's the second time we've scored 4 already this season and our squad looks so strong. Things that I have noticed so far this season and like: - We are playing way less hoofball. Even against Arsenal we didn't just lump it. Maybe it's because Drinkwater is out of the team and Maguire is in it, but this is a huge improvement on last season. We still have some way to go, but definitely moving in the right direction. - We are becoming ruthless. Some of the goals we have scored this season have been clinical. We've got that look of a strong team about us. - We are being more aggressive. Slimani was chasing the ball down. Shinji is making more runs into the box and finishing. Harry Maguire is the most creative centre half in the country with some awesome runs upfield! - Shakespeare's handling of Mahez has been first class. Whereas Van Dijk is on strike, Diego Costa is being a nob and Coutinho is getting his knickers in a twist, Riyad is playing some good stuff and not negatively affecting the team dynamic. - Body language from the team looks great this season. A real throwback to two seasons ago. On the bench versus the blades you could see Mahrez, Vardy and Ablrighton cracking up together. Slimani has looked jovial even though he's largely been on the bench. Shinji has the killer smile that we all love as per usual. And look at the way the players celebrated Musa scoring! That was pretty hilarious and touching in a truly LCFC way. Only Gray is a bit pouty, and that's his personality more than his feelings. - Fringe players are impressing. Matty James looks good, Slimani looks good, Gray looks good. Amartey and King looked good last night. Even though Mendy only played 10 minutes even he looked OK! Again this is a great sign - players know they are under pressure to perform and they are raising their game. Well other than Leo sadly. - The way the team and players talk to the media is encouraging. Shakespeare looks comfortable behind the mic. Maguire was super eloquent and professional. - The depth in our squad is the best it has ever been. As of right now I would go as far as saying we don't know what our best team is. But I mean this in a good way! Last night we had Vardy, Mahrez, Albighton, Morgan, Huth, Drinkwater, Okazaki, Simpson, Kasper all out of the team and still scored 4. Iborra and Ihenacho are yet to get going for us. I can genuinely say this is the strongest squad we have ever had. One or two might need to be moved on, but we look strong. In writing this, we are about to go on a very tricky run where things could change. But credit where it's due. Shakespeare has done well and I am really excited for this season.
  23. I think most want him to fail because he is spending so much money. I think his teams always try to play fantastic football which is to be admired. But whereas with Barcelona many players were home grown at Man City they just get the chequebook out. It's awesome we got Ihenacho from them but I think getting rid of a highly promising young talent to buy other players is not the right way to do things. If they are successful it won't be a special achievement. As much as I dislike Spurs, their way of building a team is to be admired. Although in their case I feel like they should have purchased one marquee player to put them over the top. Imagine if their current team had Bale and Modric in it as an example.
  24. It was flat yesterday but I think that's because of the way the game went. Brighton did nothing on the pitch and it meant the result was never in doubt. Away fans were surprisingly quiet. You'd think that you'd be far noisier in your first ever away game in the Premier League!
  25. Maguire had a fantastic game today, looks like a potential club captain for us in the future. When we first signed him, I thought he was a good signing but thought that Keane or Gibson would have been better signings given how many goals Hull shipped last season. However, now that I've seen him play in the flesh I think we've signed one of the best CB's in the country. When you look at some of the signings other big clubs have made in defence over the last few years such as Stones, Lovren, Matip, Gabriel, Mustafi, etc, it looks like excellent business. I think he absolutely ideal for our team. Our two banks of 4 mean teams tend to cross the ball in to beat us, which he can deal with very easily. But going forwards... wow! Unlike Huth and Morgan who look like they are playing with a hand grenade, he can pick a pass, drive out from the back and even beat his man. Honestly this is such a big improvement for our team and the way we play and gives us a great base to play from. Early days so far, but he looks like another signing of the Ndidi calibre. A young talent, that can hit the ground running and can still improve.
