Riyad Mahrez - The great Artist
StriderHiryu replied to The whole world smiles's topic in Leicester City Forum
I don't think you can call Mahrez the overall best player we've had, but there's definitely an argument to say he's the most technically gifted. He can do things that no one in our club's history can do. I think Shakespeare has handled him well and may get one last season out of him. Gray may be the future but he'll never have the x-factor that Mahrez does. -

All of the big money signings producing. Back to back 4-0 score lines. Clean sheets. World class striker. Looks ominous... And we have to play them next! -

Renamed the stadium. Brought in the London Mafia featuring Denis Wise Gave a manager a 10 year contract and then terminated that contract later In the early years passed on funding the team leading to them being relegated multiple times Royally pissed off the NUFC fans. These days he seems much better, persuading Rafa to come on board and backing him as best as he can, but speak to any Newcastle fan. They still dislike him and wished he sold up and left. -

I like Newcastle, especially their fans who are always super passionate. I feel sorry for them having Ashley as their owner. Compare him to our owners! Can't see Rafa hanging around for long though if he's not backed. He can easily pick up a job across Europe. -

And that's probably why he's ended up at Brighton instead of a "bigger" club. He definitely has potential though and wouldn't surprise me if he becomes a cult hero down there. -

He hit a worldy against us in the Champions League. He was definitely impressive in both legs against us. -
Is Shakespeare the right man for the job?

I hope we fans think this way. Our start is so tough I expect a general feeling of depression early on! Got to give the man a chance, he's earned the opportunity. -
Deeney Day Promotion from the Championship with over 100 points. The greatest escape in the history of the Premier league in a season we saw one of Europe's most decorated players wear our shirt and tonked Manchester United 5-3 in a PL classic. We won the flipping Premier League by 10 points! We got further than any other English team in the Champions League and made the top 8 including a truly special night against Sevilla at the KP. Supporting this club in recent times is a higher high and more addictive than any drug out there. Losing it's appeal? It's never been stronger for me! Plenty of issues to sort out, but what a time to be a Leicester fan!

In fairness to Everton their whole squad will be short of match fitness. West Ham have exited the competition early before for the same reason. They may also struggle badly come from the end of the season if they do progress in Europe. We should watch them and learn as if we qualify for the Europa we will experience the same problems. I do agree with other posters on Everton not replacing Lukaku properly, but that was always going to be a tough ask. It will be interesting to see how they do this year because though they've spent a lot, only Keane has stood out as a great signing. I expected him to go to a top 4 club so they've done well there. Everyone else is fairly average. -

The amount of money Man City are spending this window is sickening - so much for financial fair play! I'm all for seeing exciting players in the league but the way they throw money about is vulgar and classless. To be honest I hope that Man City / United / Chelsea don't win the league for this reason. I really do not like Spurs as a club, but you have to respect that they can play so well without spending more money than some countries GDP's on players. All this reminds me of is how much of a miracle our title win was. -

Although I really dislike the club they have been brilliant for the last two years. At times they were the best team in the league and certainly gave us a right hiding at the KP. Honestly if they weren't moving to Wembley they would be my favourites for the league, as of the big teams that were in the Champions League, it affected their league form the least. I expect the league will be wide open this year. I think Man City will again be found out as they are buying too many players and it will take time to bed them all in. Some players like Stones just aren't Premier League title winning material in my eyes. Manchester United can't be counted out, but they had a brilliant striker last year in Zlatan and still only finished 6th. Creativity is their biggest problem that I feel they need to fix to win it. Chelsea will be consistent again as I feel that Bakayoko is a brilliant partner for Kante, but with the Champions League to contend with we will have to see how they fare. No idea who will win it at the moment. -

West Ham have had an interesting window. In theory with Hart, Zabaleta and Hernandez they have signed 3 proven premier league players who can make a difference straight away. But all are aging and on big wages. I'd argue they are the signings of a manager who knows he's under pressure. I personally prefer our signings as with Maguire and Ihenacho we have players that will only get better. -

I agree, plus their coach is excellent. It will be hard for them but I think they will be the most motivated and will bring something different to the league. -

I agree. They've spent big but other than Keane there is no stand out player yet. Koeman is a good manager though so could gel them. I don't see them pushing top 4 with those signings or squad though. And if Lukaku leaves they'll have a big hole to fill. -
Welcome Harry! A likely mainstay for many years I think. Looking forward to who's next. Break the record for Gylfi please!!!

Tuchel would be exciting but Shakespeare deserves the job here. Been around for years, part of our biggest successes and last year saved us with a few games to spare. If we complete the Maguire deal this weekend then we've also got a promising start to his full time reign. The last few games last seasons weren't a great watch, but we should get behind him and give him a chance! Also whilst it's great having a team that plays attractive football it's important to have a style that suits the players and team in question. I feel like the genius behind our title was that we played a style that was so different to anyone else and maximised the strengths of all of our players. Southampton have played great stuff and developed amazing players over the last few years (well last season they were less good to watch), but what have they won? In our league it will be impossible to match the top teams in terms of style as they will always be able to attract better players. I think there is a logic to playing a different way that does not require as many expensive players, but that is still effective. -
Watching some of his performances at the Under 20's, he looks great. Seems to have a brilliant attitude and a love for playing. I think Shakey will try to incorporate him into the matchday squad and think he will get a chance or two as sub / in the cup. I think he's in that weird place of being too good / too much potential to send out on loan but not good enough to be first team yet.
-
He'll be part of the first team squad next season although might go loan around Christmas time. Huge potential and very exciting!
-
I'd put money on him making an appearance or two for us over the rest of the season. Glad his loan move worked out for him! Might be worth sending Kaputska and even Amartey out next season, it can really help young players develop.
-
Got a feeling he will do pre-season with us and then be sent on loan again, although I know his contract is running out. However, James was with us during some memorable times, and has always acquitted himself well. If not for his injury, he would have played a much bigger role in recent times. I'd like to hope the club give him another chance, and that he can take it. When we first got promoted back to the Premier League he was the player I thought was most likely to get an England cap in the squad. He was a young but talented midfielder with room to improve.
-
Has there ever been another player who played in both the Champions League and League one in the same season?! Glad to hear he continues to smash it. He could definitely be a squad player next season. I think Ndidi and to a lesser extent Grey show the club will give players a chance if they are good enough. If not, loaning him out to possibly even a Premier League club might be a good plan.
-
Only till 2021!!?! Get Rudkin on the phone and tell him to add another 5 years to that number! He will only be 24 then!
-
He's the sort of player we should build our team around. Young, talented, room to get even better and to cap it all off, a fantastic attitude. Lots of the other boys looked delighted for him on Saturday when he scored. I think Drinky can clearly be seen mouthing "fookin hell!" in surprise/ delight. Demari Grey might want £60k a week but Ndidi actually deserves it!
