I really didn't want him but I've not seen anything from him since he joined that I dislike. Sometimes people are just bad fits at clubs, and if a fanbase like Rangers' rejects you maybe that's not a bad thing. Feels like a lot of the criticisms that he's "weird" just relate to being a vegetarian and doing meditation...

I don't think any of the keepers Martin inherited can do the role he wants a goalkeeper to do, so makes sense for him to go back to a previous player who can. Vietes probably closest to it as he's started the friendlies. Stolarczyk will end up moving on. Could have an ok career but I won't shed any tears.

Presume he wouldn't have signed for a League One club if we offered 1 or 2 years. I know somebody who works at Ipswich who says Chaplin is a really positive person to have in a team, as well as adding quality. I think this is an excellent signing.

I've never seen him play but this is the verbatim response from a Peterborough season ticket holder when I asked him what type of player he is:

I lived in Peterborough for a few years and have mates who are Posh fans - they really, really rate Collins. Works all day and by all accounts a good character, often their captain. Peterborough have been desperate for him to sign a new contract but he wants to step up. I'd argue not buying players like him because they come from a club like Peterborough is one of the main things that got us into this mess. Reminds me of when Everton fans turned their nose up at KDH... until they actually saw him play, and now they love him.

Suspect the best we'll get is £10m plus add ons. We'd be wise to include a future sell-on percentage, but probably don't have much bargaining power (and probably not a lot of bidders). Have a feeling he'll end up at one of the newly promoted teams and we'll hopefully be playing him in the league in 2027/28... If I were him I'd go abroad. Can't be fun being a flair winger in a battling side year after year.

Don't think he's been called up for a couple of years now. I'd offer him a free transfer. Not sure he'd take it due to his wages, but the freedom and chance to negotiate a transfer fee as a signing on fee might help.

Personally – I live with depression, and toxic environments hit me fast. I spiral easily. The club and its community have been a massive support for me. This forum is usually my best outlet for that in the summer, and while criticism is fine my point is about relentless negativity. Either about old topics or about just anything about the club (friendlies are wrong, new manager already written off). For the club - a toxic atmosphere makes recovery harder. How can fans share in a team's success but not think they can influence things at all when the team is struggling? Last year our away results (17th) were unacceptable, but the home results (22nd) are actually what relegated us. That's not saying it was all on the fans, but a toxic atmosphere makes a bad situation even worse. Would I take a new owner? Do I wish Jordan Ayew never signed? Do I think Harry Winks is a bellend? Yes, yes, yes. What will improve if fans spend the summer adding to multiple hundred-plus (and rising) page hate threads about these topics? Absolutely nothing. My point is we won't magic up a new owner, build a Jordan Ayew-resistant time machine or change Harry Winks' personality by adding a 382nd page to those threads. And neither will adding a 9th thread about not liking the new manager. This is the last I'll post on the topic for reasons of spiralling that I've mentioned earlier, and obviously people who disagree with me aren't going to change their minds, which is fine. Again, you're saying I've argued something I've not said. I said the board being crap delivered bad players which led to a toxic atmosphere. My point is about toxic negative performative bollocks that achieves nothing other than continuing the toxic culture. Do we now need to stay in a toxic atmosphere? Are you not a Leicester City fan any more if you don't post about how much you hate Harry Winks (won't create a buyer) the owners (won't magic up a billionaire), Jordan Ayew (doesn't play for us) throughout the summer?

Classic internet response - mocking a point I didn't make. I’ve said the club’s a shambles, and most of the blame sits with the board and players. But relentless fan negativity plays a part too - and elements of this thread proves it I'm not sure fans hate posting in a Jordan Ayew thread all summer will avoid any icebergs. There's a difference between holding the club to account and having an addiction to moaning. Our 'fans' are spending a summer adding to a 100+ page hate thread for an ex-player and a 300+ page 'King Power Out' thread that won't generate a new billionaire owner. Same mentality as booing a player coming on as a sub, chanting about murdering Rudkin and going on GB News saying you want us to get relegated because you hate the board. My point remains: the board have overseen failure after failure. The players have performed below their pay grade. As a result, the fan atmosphere is toxic. Yet it feels to me like: the board think it's the players and fans' fault - so don't change the players think it's the board and fans' fault - so don't change the fans think it's he board and players' fault - so don't change Rinse and repeat. A culture where nobody recognises fault brings no change, and the downward spiral continues.

Yes - we’re shit. The board avoid accountability, plenty of players are bellends and the club is a mess. On top of that, the atmosphere online and in the ground has become properly toxic. I find this really quite sad because the club has pulled me out of some dark places in my life. For about five years I've thought there are three warring camps at Leicester City: the board the players the fans Each camp blames the other two and thinks they don’t need to change themselves - it's the other guys' fault. There’s already multiple negative threads about Russell Martin and the poor sod's been in post for about two days. I’m not saying stop criticising, just that endlessly piling on the same targets creates a circle of toxicity that clearly hinders the club. We’re still Leicester City fans, and we’ve seen plenty of times when we've pulled out of dire situations with a bit of unity. I don't think it will happen when we're just relentlessly moaning - especially about things that can't be changed or players / managers that have already left the club. This thread will probably die on its arse after a few laughing emojis and snippy replies, and maybe I'm wrong and that's the 'right' way to support the club these days. But personally, I’d rather try to reset the tone more to the club I fell in love with as a child than keep adding pages and pages to the same old hate threads. Anyone else up for that?

We are rancid but so is a lot of the division. Had a really decent run in and even after picking up barely any points were a couple of results away from staying up. Nigel Pearson would have comfortably kept us up.

We definitely put names out as a smokescreen. However on this occasion I've got a bad feeling Darren Ferguson was the smokescreen and it's going to be Russell Martin.
