Ex players who used to be linked with us
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to HybridFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Nicky Maynard and Dean Windass were always linked with us. -
Don't put yourself through the stress - we're not signing anyone.
-
I think Skipp could be OK in a 3. Lacks the physicality to be in a 2. Tbh I'm struggling to muster any enthusiasm whatever way you manipulate this squad of players into an XI
-
Mads Justin Ndidi Coady Okoli Woyo Skipp Soumare Winks Bilal Vardy
-
TBF I think there's a decent argument. New faces: Skipp, El Khannouss, Okoli, Golding, Decordova, Ayew, Buonanotte, Edouard Out the door: Dewsbury-Hall, Praet, Iheanacho, Souttar, Akgun, Cannon

Chuba Akpom - "dropped out of the race"

Horrible story but his cousin was a football coach in Leicester who was murdered 10 years ago. Used to play for Leicester Nirvana. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-27055838 -
There are legitimate questions about his fitness, but he's clearly a good defender

Luke Thomas - Hoffenheim interest

I'd take the money. Seems a nice lad but can't see him ever holding down a first team place here. Thanks for your service and best of luck for what is hopefully a long and prosperous career! He would leave with some amazing memories - most of all the FA Cup win (and a great assist ). -
He's a good player but he just doesn't play in a position I think we need to be prioritising. Then again, I thought we were mad signing Wes Morgan when we already had Matt Mills and Sean St Ledger, so what do I know

25 Man squad to save our season.

I'd change to 5-3-1-1 formation. Make us horrible to play against. Mavididi would be the big loser, but 4-2-3-1 is getting us relegated. I think Coady could be good in a back 3, and Skipp would do better in a middle 3 than 2. Buona and BEK would essentially do a job share as the No10. Probably fantasy world but if we could get some money for Daka, Faes or Soumare maybe invest it in a new centre back and striker. Vardy still playing a role off the bench for the last 20. First team Mads Woyo Coady New CB Okoli Kristiansen Skipp Ndidi Winks Buonanotte New CF Subs / second XI Jakub Pereira Faes Veste Justin Thomas Soumare Hamza Golding(?) El Khannouss Vardy -
Which player would lead to a higher finish.

Mahrez - such a threat it changes how the opposition set up. -
Tom Cannon - signed for Sheffield United

Best of luck to him, he's looked pretty sharp and seems to be a good finisher. Not convinced he looks like a Premier League player, but I'd have said the same about Harry Kane and Chris Wood during their time here -
Nothing personal to him, he's just one of the most valuable assets in a team that doesn't work. If we're going to change things up (which I think we need to), we'll presumably need to generate some cash.

Not asking people to fake enthusiasm, just not constant complaining. I appreciate it's hard to be enthusiastic when you're losing a lot, but the supporter misery is relentless. It was also there last season when we were winning a league. Here are 5 things to think about to mitigate some fans' relentless misery: 1. We literally won a league last season 2. Squad full of internationals 3. Extremely exciting young players like BEK, Fatawu, Hermansen 4. Acted swiftly when Cooper wasn't working out 5. Massive off-pitch commitments, eg training facilities, stadium expansion, debt cancellation I know you could argue negative spins to each of these (we shouldn't have been in the Champ anyway, why did we appoint Cooper in the first place etc), but such people are just drain on my enjoyment of what is supposed to be an interest / escapism from the day-to-day grind. And it could be a lot worse - ask the fans whose clubs have been dissolved or drifted down multiple divisions.
-
It's not just the stadium atmosphere that's rank, the majority of posters on here seem to be miserable too. You post anything relatively positive and all you get is laughing emojis. Gone are the days of supporters 'supporting'. Now our 'fans' seem to hate Leicester and just spend their time moaning. IMO constant negativity is the easiest attitude, and one of the very worst character traits.

Never seen him play but this is Port Vale's form (in League Two). WDLLDDLDDL Justin needs a spell out of the team but he's a decent player. I also suspect he'd be a lot stronger with a better centre back next to him (like the impact Robert Huth had on everyone who played with him.

Villa (Away) Saturday 4th Jan 3pm (Match Thread)
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to tcrofts's topic in Leicester City Forum
Forward for a full back because we're chasing a point -
A friend of a friend won an "all access tour" thing of the Chelsea training ground. When he met Fofana and told him he's a Leicester supporter, apparently his face lit up and he said how much he loved his time at the club. Can't begrudge him the big move. Would be like us staying loyal to St Etienne when Marseille made an offer. That and he probably knew his body was made of biscuits and the short career of a footballer would likely be even shorter for him.

Seems too early to be able to make predictions like this. Our run in is decent; Wolves (a) Southampton (h) Forest (a) Ipswich (h) Bournemouth (a) Keep within touching distance going into the last five and we have a chance.

3 year contract is pretty standard. Any longer could be reckless, especially for a player joining after some injuries.
-
Sorry if this has been covered or I've missed something like him leaving (!), but is Daniel Iversen not available?

Oliver Skipp Confirmed
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to DJ Barry Hammond's topic in Leicester City Forum
As somebody who has previously written off the likes of Jamie Vardy, Gerry Taggart and Steve Claridge after slow starts, give him some time. I know we want instant returns (especially when we're crap and have been financially handcuffed), and admittedly he's not don't anything to justify the transfer fee so far... but sometimes these things take a little while. And I'd give him a break for today. The midfield is crippled with absences and I doubt many would excel in a midfield two with Hamza away at Newcastle. -
Jamie Vardy Appreciation
LeePhilpottsBaldSpot replied to GeorgeTheFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Embarrassingly, I wrote him off twice at Leicester. Didn't think he was good enough in his first season in the Championship. Didn't think he was good enough in his first season in the Prem. I don't know what I'm talking about A good lesson to not prematurely write people off. My mates still remind me of my Vardy criticisms to this day... and it's hard not to blame them! -
I genuinely haven't. In fact my first games were the opposite... my dad would take us to the turnstiles when they were opening for fans to leave. We'd sneak in to watch the last few minutes! Ever since I've always thought of being inside a stadium as a treat, and even when the result is beyond conclusion I've never left before the final whistle.
