I really hope this appointment works and Martin is a huge success, because for the sake of the football club, it can’t afford for it not to. However this appointment does confirm that there has been zero self reflection within the hierarchy in relation to the strategic direction of the football side of the business, and despite the ‘reshuffle’ we are just going to serve up even more of the same. There was a massive opportunity for a complete reset and a move in a different direction, even if we stayed with a possession based style but implemented a far higher intensity style but instead we have appointed the one manager that the majority of the fanbase really didn’t want as he epitomises slow, laboured possession for possessions sake football that the majority have come to despise. Yet again complete and utter tone deaf from the club and shows how limited, lazy and stubborn the thinking is within the boardroom.

He really wouldn’t have been anywhere near my shortlist purely because I wanted to see us move away from that type of football and look to play more a high energy, high intensity style. However my love for Leicester City, means that if he is appointed he comes in and is able to get something really positive going here because this club sure as hell needs it. I really do hope if appointed he can be a real success, but I have huge reservations.

Worryingly so far the current noise to players moving on are - Monga Page Nelson Stolarcyrk Motsi none of those were in my top 5 as needing to move on whilst it’s all quiet in relation to the likes of Winks, Mavididi, Faes, JV, Kristensen etc

I really don’t want to see him anywhere near the club next season, I think his ego will not allow him to hang around league one getting bullied week in and week out. I think had we managed to stay up then he would have hung around for the final 12 months of his contract and feathered his nest, I think relegation will see him cut and run albeit for a very minimal fee.

Not a fan of this appointment as I really wanted us to move in a different direction, move away from this style of play and bring in some fresh ideas. Martin is very much more of the same. I think it just goes to prove that despite back to back relegations and 3 in the last 4, plus the hiring of McCarron, it’s still very much Aiyawatt and Rudkin calling the shots and their obsession with this slow, turgid style is not dwindling.

They did he told them to piss off so they moved to Brussell ….. after asking Enzo back in February, it would appear they have just dusted off the shortlist from 2023 😂

I was told Challinor to Salford, 3 year deal agreed hence why they sacked Robinson.

My biggest concern with Martin being appointed is that he tries to reintegrate Winks and feel that he can get a tune out of him.

I disagree i actually think wee looked decent in pre season under Kingy, lots of the academy players involved, we were playing with a high press and high energy it looked quite positive. The reality is the culture and standards at the club are woeful, that is down to rank bad recruitment not only from at talent perspective but a complete lack of due diligence as to the personality and character of new signings, align that with us handing out long lucrative contracts, and an ownership only to happy to indulge the players and it’s easy to see why the rot has set in. I ran at Seagrave with Kingy and we spent half an hour talking very openly, and whilst I am not going to breach any confidences about exactly what was said, it is clear he sees and knows the issues. However like any workplace, you can only drive a change if the rotten apples are moved out and you have the support of the Senior Management team to adopt a hard line approach, that will and cannot change if the bad eggs are allowed and enabled by the ownership and Senior leaders to throw each and every manager who tries to change to direction of travel under a bus. Over time the poor recruitment has diluted the positive impact that the good professionals can instill, and when you have a largely absent owner who still wants autonomy on most major decisions and still tries to be best mates with the senior players, influencing selection etc then anarchy reigns. Kingy is nowhere near the problem here, his message is saying he knows what can be achieved when standards are high, the culture is professional and everyone is pushing in the same direction, 2015-16 is absolute evidence of that, in the same way that this seasons debacle shows how wrong things can go when the standards are not at the highest level.
