I think people need to take some things that are said with a huge pinch of salt. The truth is most of us in our day to day communications have to ‘sugar coat’ a lot of what we say especially when talking about other people, also we have to remember that the football club is a business and all the players are assets. So RM has to be seen and heard to be positive about these individuals particularly in the public domain. I get that the majority of the fanbase want rid of Faes, Mavididi etc but calling them out in his media interviews isn’t going to help sell them. Also we all know we need another striker, RM probably more than anyone, but again if we don’t sign anyone he is going to have use the likes of Cullen and BDCR so rightly he is showing outwardly he has confidence in them. Finally whilst we lost to Ipswich, who, whilst we may not like it, are 2 divisions above us, it was a much better performance, we looked good in large parts of the game and the younger players were very good. Had he come out and slated anyone on that performance, he would have got pelters for throwing them under the bus. I didn’t want him when he was linked, and I appreciate many were in a similar position, however I do feel in some cases he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. Yes the results and performances haven’t been great so far, but there have been some big improvements in terms of culture etc. Also it isn’t necessarily his fault that the likes of Souttar, Faes, Okoli, Mavididi, Skipp, Choudhury etc are still here and he has to include them or be seen/heard being positive about them to try and force them out the door. I know people aren’t enamoured by him and are waiting for him to fall flat on his face, but at the moment I think he has still got a fairly tough job on his hands especially given we have some huge gaps in our squad, which are not of his making. Remember he is not in control of when players leave or come in. That is on McCarron, Rudkin and no doubt some sort of rubber stamp from the owner.

That’s good but needs to be more, Souttar and Choudhury need to go as well as a minimum. Otherwise i think we have similar issues to last season.

He was but I think Alves also looked good in his cameo and has done enough in his other starts to retain his starting place.

Another one that needs to be done and dusted today so we can focus on shifting the others out and bringing in the 3/4 player we need. Clock is ticking

Was really hoping we took a chance on this lad, hey ho, will be interesting to see how he does at Peterborough. They usually do really well with bringing strikers in from outside the EFL

I really do feel if the club can back with him 2/3 new CB’s, a central midfielder and striker whilst shifting out the 6/7 players that need moving on, or at least not insisting they are included in the matchday 18 to protect their transfer value or to try and save face, then he will have more than a fighting chance. if not and he is ‘asked’ to make sure those players are involved then he is on a hiding to nothing.

I think it’s way too early to be writing him off, hopefully over the next few weeks he will start to settle and we start to see a better level of performance and effectiveness.

Hopefully we can keep him but unfortunately I think this is out of the manager’s hands and will be decided by the Chief of Football and owner as to whether we cash in. if he does stay I think he will be heavily involved, just can’t see it myself as it would appear we are prepared to literally sell any of our shining lights if a remotely acceptable offer comes in, even if it means keeping more of the deadwood.

I really like Jakub seems to care deeply about the club and has always given 100% but his confidence looks shot and he looks broken, personally i think he needs a move to rekindle his career. i think being in and around the 1st team for the last two toxic seasons has had a real negative impact on his career. New surroundings and a fresh start will do him and his career a world of good.

I thought he was very good again his ability to see and execute a pass in tight spaces is exceptional, thought it made a massive difference him and Page being in the areas where we usually find Skipp, no coincidence that we were able to move the ball quicker and with more purpose from deep and look to take advantage of good movement and potential overloads higher up the pitch. Thought he also got into some really promising areas higher up the pitch as well. Impressed me again.

The big difference last night was having the likes of Aluko, Braybrooke and Page being the likes to get on the ball in deeper positions rather than Skipp, Okoli and Souttar, their ability and vision to move the ball quicker meant we could break lines and create a lot more opportunities. Too often in the first 3 games we couldn’t capitalise on chances to move the ball quickly to create overloads because the likes of Skipp, Okoli and Souttar are unable to see or execute the pass. That is why we so desperately need to move all these players on, because if we don’t we all know that the manager will be required to include them as they will be expensive assets and certain individuals will want to save face. For me I thought McFarlane, Aluko despite a couple of mistakes, JJ, Braybrooke, Chaplin, Page, Howell, Watson and Alves all looked very good. Bristric worked hard and once he gets up to speed will be a good addition. We need rid of the 6/7 deadwood wantaways and if we can sign 2/3 central defenders, a CDM and another striker I think we will be in a good place. Still lots of work to do, as defensively we looked shaky at times but also lots of positives to build on.

Living in Preston, I saw Pearson a fair few times, at PNE he was excellent and if he could replicate that level, would be deemed a very good signng however since he left PNE he has been nowhere near the same player, personally I would prefer to see us bring in a younger more mobile, athletic, combative central midfielder.

Nope honest opinion, it wasn’t perfect by any means but that was easily the best performance of the season and I think the level of criticism is over the top as that was a decent showing.

We have just given a premier league side a decent game with a makeshift back 4 and 2 full backs as CB, plus a load of youngsters and we did well, looked more threatening and worked a lot harder out of possession. If this is Russell’s blueprint then I can get behind this, he needs the deadwood shifting out and 3/4 new signings and I actually think we will do well. Over to Jon and McCarron ………

That is the type of performance I can get behind, enjoyed that, good intensity and we looked positive in and out of possession. Who would have thought most of the wantaways well away from the squad and we look good and high energy we look well coached and well drilled, everyone looks together and a much better team performance. I hope that the certain individuals missing from tonight are moved on ASAP and the group who are committed and want to be here can crack on with getting back to where we belong.

Happy with the midfield and front 3, defence is a concern but understandable given the issues at centre back, would have preferred to see Gray given an opportunity instead of Thomas. Okoli not on the bench wonder if he is closer to the exit door than Souttar.

Really hope we are one of the teams involved in this

There is not one reason why we should keep him, he has been with us since the premier league and has never been a regular starter despite multiple relegations, him and Thomas are synonymous with our decline in performance, culture and standards. Get rid and move on, drain the swamp.

Agree with most of this but can’t see the club binning off new signing McCarthy after just signing him and him making 2 starts. however the rest of the list absolutely 100%
