I saw this fly over the A47 near the Braunstone crossroads just now. Was quite relieved to see it fly back in the opposite direction as it seemed to be in a shallow dive at low level when I first spotted it. The pilot was throwing it about a bit

Thank goodness it was bin day, I put some stuff in mine last night and we had a new entry in the top 5 worst ever smells, and there wasn't even much in there. Walking around the neighbourhood last night confirmed this was mercifully not just my problem. If it rains later as the BBC forecast is now optimistically saying it will, you can thank me as I've emptied out my shed so my lawn is covered in tools, electrical items, cardboard boxes etc, exactly the stuff you wouldn't want to get rained on

Like I said, I've not been following it at all and like most know next to sod all about it. The only thing I thought might make a difference (idle conjecture alert alarm) is the extent of the planning that's already been done. I know someone at the City Council who was party to the planning of big projects and he always painted a picture of the ground expansion and associated works getting so close to happening that at one point he'd assumed it had started. I don't know if that would make such a venture easier and quicker to bring to fruition

I've not been following this AT ALL (I tend to ignore things I don't really understand or have any influence over - why do I even like football?) but my Derby mate says the 'strong rumour' over there is that the Turki guy pulled out of the Rams investment as he wants to buy us, with the possibility of ground expansion and new facilities with a view to putting on 'boxing events' being of particular appeal. (Opens drawer labelled 'baseless conjecture', files accordingly)

This was a partial success, in that I reckon I probably stopped about 100 litres from going down the drain and I'm sure the trees and shrubs appreciated it. My wife did not, as because the end of the outlet was submerged instead of sitting above the drain, the water in the shower and sink would not flow away freely, leading to all sorts of exciting glugging sounds from the bathroom suite and a real threat of the shower overflowing of if you're incapable of showering in less than 10 minutes (everyone in my house except yours truly). Also, whilst it's fine to capture grey water and chuck it on the garden, you've got to use it in real time because there's bacteria and stuff in it that becomes an issue if you store it, so a water butt or anything like that is out of the question

In 1999 when loads of people went to Devon and Cornwall to watch it, where naturally it was overcast during the actual event, some folk still came back claiming it was amazing and refusing to acknowledge they'd gone to a ton of effort to witness NOTHING AT ALL

I saw a meteorite! Just one, but quite a good one

The thing that annoyed me most about it was that on any clear night you'll see a couple of meteorites if you're patient enough to sit there enough for an hour or so. That night there were, if anything, less meteorites than usual

My wife's friend is a bit of an amateur astronomer and claims that this might not be shite, a bold claim. Is this the one that came by a couple of years ago? I was in the middle of nowhere in west Dorset and stayed up as there was zero light pollution and thought I'd be in for a treat. There was also zero meteorites, absolute jokers Everyone's DESPERATE to know when the next one is. On balance I'd say that was just as crap as 1999

Extreme temps make for strange bedfellows. That's serious wedge but I suppose you can easily spend that on a boiler and it looks like the point where having air con is as important as having one of those isn't far off, and probably here already

I'm not sure what the current thinking is but I've read before that one of the risk factors of climate change for NW Europe in particular is the Jetstream shifting permanently, as in general terms it stops us from getting too hot in summer but also too cold in the winter (bearing in mind there are much colder places at the same latitude as us elsewhere). So we could potentially face a scenario where conditions are terrible all year round. Presumably we'll all have a lab grown fungus based diet by then so it'll be fine

My wife is going to thrilled when she gets home to find that I'm catching the waste water from the bathroom in the bottom of the old hamster cage to put on the garden. It's getting a bit desperate out there isn't it? Some of the trees are starting to turn brown
